For most PCs, start at your display’s native resolution with Textures, Post-Processing, Anti-Aliasing and Shadows on High, then cap the game at a steady 60 FPS. If that cap is not sustainable, lower Shadows to Middle before reducing the other settings. On Steam Deck, the practical 60-FPS profile is High everywhere with Middle shadows. On consoles, there are no quality or performance modes to tune: PS5 and Xbox Series X render around 1440p internally, Series S uses 720p, Switch 2 targets 60 FPS with softer filtering, and Switch 1 runs at 30 FPS.
Immediately open System > Options > Gameplay and set Text Speed to Instant, Sprint Type to Invert Sprint and Autosave to On. During combat, use the battle-speed button shown at the lower-left of the screen twice to reach the retail game’s 3x speed.

What are the best PC graphics settings?
The most dependable starting point is native output, High quality on all four quality rows and a 60-FPS limit. Final Fantasy Resonance is an HD-2D game: pixel-art characters sit in three-dimensional miniature-like environments with selective-focus softness. That softness is part of the art direction, so a soft image is not automatically a rendering fault.
Recommended starting values
| Option | Starting value | When to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | Your display’s native 16:9 resolution, when listed | Use a lower resolution only when the system cannot sustain the target frame rate |
| Screen Mode | Fullscreen | Use Borderless Windowed if frequent Alt-Tab switching matters more than exclusive fullscreen behavior |
| Brightness | Adjust for your room; the slider runs 0–10 | Use the Advanced brightness screen for finer adjustment |
| FPS | 60 if sustainable | Use 120 only with headroom and a compatible display; choose 30 when a stable 60 would require an unacceptable image reduction |
| Vsync | Display-dependent | With VRR, G-Sync or FreeSync, compare the result with Vsync Off; on a fixed-refresh display, Vsync can prevent tearing |
| Textures | High | Try Max only when video memory and frame pacing remain comfortable |
| Post-Processing | High | Try Middle if the diorama looks too soft; this is a preference change, not a verified depth-of-field disable |
| Anti-Aliasing | High | Lower only after the frame-rate and shadow adjustments have been considered |
| Shadows | High | First performance lever to try at Middle when 60 FPS is not sustained |
A 60-FPS cap means an ideal 16.67-millisecond frame interval, but a cap alone cannot guarantee even delivery. Turn-based battles make 120 FPS a luxury rather than a requirement; use it when the monitor and GPU have clear headroom, not simply because the option exists.

What settings are actually available on PC?
The Graphics tab is intentionally short. It has no DLSS, FSR, XeSS, field-of-view slider, HDR switch, ray-tracing toggle, motion-blur toggle, depth-of-field toggle or built-in ultrawide mode.
| Menu item | Available choices |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 16:9 resolutions from 1280×720 upward, including 4K |
| Screen Mode | Fullscreen, Windowed, Borderless Windowed |
| Brightness | 0–10 slider plus an Advanced screen |
| FPS | 30, 60, 120, 144 or Unlimited |
| Vsync | On or Off |
| Textures | Low, Middle, High or Max |
| Post-Processing | Low, Middle, High or Max |
| Anti-Aliasing | Low, Middle, High or Max |
| Shadows | Low, Middle, High or Max |
Steam’s specification page describes Low and Highest presets, but the retail Graphics tab exposes the four quality rows independently. There is also no official ultrawide support; 21:9, 24:10, 32:9 and 16:10 require a community modification, so unsupported aspect ratios can break after updates.

Digital Foundry’s William Judd described the image as clean, without the shimmering, temporal-antialiasing artifacts or intrusive noise common in some Unreal Engine projects. The game uses Unreal Engine 5, but that does not mean every modern engine feature is present.
How do I make the picture look sharper?
First confirm that the game is outputting your panel’s native resolution. Then compare Post-Processing High and Middle from the same camera position. Middle can look crisper to some players, but there is no separate DoF control and no evidence that Middle disables depth of field; the selective focus is part of the intended miniature-diorama presentation.
Why “native 4K” advice is uncertain
The Windows configuration file is %LOCALAPPDATA%FFRSSavedConfigWindowsGameUserSettings.ini. Unofficial files circulating since the demo force 3840×2160, change Unreal scalability values, disable motion blur and depth of field, set anisotropic filtering to 16 and even add ray-tracing keys.

Those packs are user modifications, not a documented retail feature. A single SteamAH observation that the game was not internally rendering at true 3840×2160 is not an independent measurement, and PCGamingWiki lists ray tracing as absent. Editing several effects at once can create a configuration that is difficult to diagnose after an update. Use the in-game sliders first, and back up the file before experimenting.
What PC hardware does Final Fantasy Resonance require?
Square Enix and Steam list Windows 11 64-bit, DirectX 12 and 15 GB of storage. Both official targets are 1920×1080; the minimum targets 30 FPS on Low, while the recommended target is 60 FPS on Highest.
| Minimum target | Recommended target | |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 3 2300X or Intel Core i3-8100 | AMD Ryzen 5 2500X or Intel Core i3-8100 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| GPU | Radeon RX 6400, Intel Arc A580 or GeForce GTX 1650 | Radeon RX 5500 XT, Intel Arc A580 or GeForce GTX 1650 |
| API / storage | DirectX 12 / 15 GB | DirectX 12 / 15 GB |
| Official result | 1920×1080, 30 FPS, Low | 1920×1080, 60 FPS, Highest |
The identical Intel CPU, Arc A580 and GTX 1650 entries in both columns are not a mistake in this article; they are the values shown by Steam. Denuvo Anti-tamper is also disclosed on the store page. A chapter-one demo remains available on Steam, and its save data carries into the full game.
Which Steam Deck settings should I use?
Steam Deck is Verified. Valve’s checks cover the default controller layout, readable interface text, correct Deck icons and a default graphics configuration that performs well. The first launch requires an internet connection. If a docked controller is ignored, switch the active controller in the Quick Access Menu.
LCD and OLED profile
- Leave the output at the Deck’s default 1280×720 and begin with High settings.
- Set Shadows to Middle if you want a locked 60 FPS. Keep Textures, Post-Processing and Anti-Aliasing on High.
- On an OLED model, cap the display to 60 Hz; the game cannot hold 90 FPS consistently.
- Use Max only if you accept roughly 40 FPS. High is generally above 60 FPS, with dips into the 50s during heavy spell particles.
RPG Site’s full-game report specifically identifies changing shadows from High to Middle as the practical fix for those dips. That finding concerns the Deck and does not establish a Windows setting-by-setting performance ranking.

Other handheld choices
- ROG Ally: 1080p High, with VRR masking short dips, provides the strongest portable image in the cited comparison.
- Switch 2: targets 60 FPS and has a 1080p interface, but uses softer floor-texture filtering, fewer subtle particles and reduced filtering compared with PS5 and Series X.
- Switch 1: runs at 30 FPS and has the slowest area transitions among the cited portable versions. The Switch 1 release is on a physical cartridge; the Switch 2 release is a Game-Key Card.
- AYN Thor through GameNative: the October 2026 report found instability, long loads and random crashes, so it is not a dependable recommendation yet.
What are the graphics differences on PS5, Xbox and Switch?
Console versions expose Brightness but not the PC quality rows. Game8 records a default brightness value of 5; adjust it to the room rather than expecting a hidden performance mode.
| Platform | Reported image and frame-rate behavior | What you can change |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | About 1440p internal resolution with a crisp 4K interface; targets 60 FPS | Brightness only |
| Xbox Series X | About 1440p internal resolution with a crisp 4K interface; targets 60 FPS | Brightness only |
| Xbox Series S | 720p internal resolution, no 4K interface, 60-FPS target; the low-resolution image can visibly soften pixel art and the interface | Brightness only |
| Switch 2 | 60-FPS target, high-resolution menus, softer filtering and fewer particles than PS5/Series X; minor dips can occur in weather-heavy scenes | Brightness only, plus the console’s Confirm-button swap |
| Switch 1 | 30 FPS; exact internal resolution is not stated in the cited measurements | Brightness only, plus the console’s Confirm-button swap |
Digital Foundry reports that almost every version targets 60 FPS, with Switch 1 as the 30-FPS exception. Series S is the platform to approach cautiously if image clarity matters most. The current console builds do not offer a 30- or 40-FPS quality mode, although a 40- or 30-FPS Switch 2 option would provide sharper filtering if Square Enix added one.
Which control and gameplay settings should I change first?
These options are available across platforms unless marked PC-only. They reduce waiting and make exploration less tiring without changing the game’s difficulty.
- Text Speed: Instant. The default is Normal; Instant removes the type-on delay.
- Sprint Type: Invert Sprint. Rain sprints by default and you hold the control to walk. Hold is the default; Toggle is the third option.
- Autosave: On. Manual Save Points remain available, so autosave is a backup rather than a replacement.
- Command Cursor Position: Remember. The battle cursor returns to the last command instead of resetting.
- Display Encounter Sensor: On. The mini-map pulses green, yellow and red as a random encounter approaches; red means an encounter is imminent.
Open these under System > Options > Gameplay. Other useful choices include Japanese or English voice language, Casual/Normal/Expert difficulty, Normal or Inverted airship camera, an Additional Landing Marker for later chapters, and camera sensitivity from 1–10.

Battle speed is not in the Options menu. Enter an encounter and press the control displayed at the lower-left of the battle screen. Press it twice from normal speed to reach the retail game’s 3x setting; press again to cycle back when a boss requires more reaction time.

A pre-release producer interview used 1.5x and 2x wording, but the live retail guides and on-screen control use the two-press path to 3x. The battle-speed change carries no stated penalty and can be made mid-encounter.

How should I troubleshoot stutter, blur or tearing?
- Blur: verify native output first, then compare Post-Processing High and Middle. Do not assume Middle is an official DoF-off switch.
- Frame dips: cap at 60 and reduce Shadows from High to Middle before cutting textures or anti-aliasing. On Deck, this is the profile used by the cited full-game report.
- Tearing: test Vsync according to your display. VRR users may prefer Off; fixed-refresh displays may need On.
- Unstable INI changes: restore the backed-up GameUserSettings.ini and return to the in-game sliders. Do not add ray-tracing keys as though they were an official feature.
- Ultrawide: the game has no native ultrawide mode. A community mod is an unsupported workaround and can require maintenance after patches.
- FMV artifacts: Digital Foundry reports that some 30-FPS video scenes can show macroblocking in dark areas; changing gameplay quality rows will not turn those movies into higher-frame-rate footage.
How we picked these settings
The recommendations prioritize a stable frame target, native output, the game’s four exposed quality controls and the least disruptive performance cut. Platform advice follows the reported resolution, frame-rate and filtering differences for each version. Control advice focuses on options that remove text delays, reduce sprint fatigue, preserve battle-cursor position and expose encounters before they trigger.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Final Fantasy Resonance support HDR on PC or console?
The reported Graphics menu has no HDR switch, and the console notes expose Brightness only. HDR behavior therefore depends on the platform’s own output handling rather than an in-game toggle.
Can I use an ultrawide monitor without a mod?
No native ultrawide mode is listed. Community modifications cover 16:10, 21:9, 24:10 and 32:9, but they are unsupported and may need updating after a game patch.
Will my demo save transfer to the full game?
The Steam demo listing says chapter-one save data carries into the full release. Keep Steam Cloud enabled or retain the local save folder if you move between Windows installations.
Why does the Switch 2 version look softer than PS5 even at 60 FPS?
The Switch 2 build reduces texture filtering and some particle effects while keeping a similar gameplay pixel count. Frame rate and image filtering are separate qualities, so matching 60 FPS does not make the two renders identical.
