- A Steam Frame headset and a computer on the same network.
- The FramePort desktop build for your computer’s operating system.
- Game files you are legally entitled to use. FramePort does not provide game downloads.
Valve documents Steam Frame support for Android APKs through Lepton, as well as SteamVR, OpenXR, Windows/Linux PC titles and native ARM64 software. That platform support makes Android-based Quest apps relevant, but it does not mean every Quest title will run. FramePort is a separate community project that uploads files, applies game-specific compatibility patches and creates Steam Library shortcuts. It says it is unaffiliated with Valve and Meta. Download and extract the desktop app
Get the archive for your computer from the FramePort releases page, then extract it and start the app. The published guide lists Windows 10/11 x64, macOS Apple Silicon, and Linux x64/ARM64 builds, along with a command-line distribution. Connect the computer and headset
Put the computer and Steam Frame on the same network and leave FramePort open. In FramePort, open the Steam Frame page and choose Show setup command. Keep the displayed command available; you will enter that exact command on the headset.

Run the first-time setup command on Steam Frame
In the headset, open the SteamVR dashboard and select Launch a program → Desktop. Open the desktop app menu, go to System → Konsole, and enter the command shown in FramePort. You can type with the headset’s on-screen keyboard; a USB or Bluetooth keyboard is optional.
The project says setup enables Developer Mode using Valve’s helper, adds FramePort’s SSH key and may prompt you to install Lepton. Accept the Lepton prompt if Steam displays it. Steam restarts once during setup; FramePort says it should connect automatically within about a minute. Review the current setup and undo instructions before proceeding if you want to understand how to disable Developer Mode, remove the key or uninstall FramePort. The setup command is served locally by the app, and the project says the Frame connects to the computer to download the setup script only during this initial step.

Add your game files
In FramePort, add or scan a folder containing your own game backups. The project README states: “FramePort explicitly does NOT download, share, or unlock games.” It expects users to supply legally obtained game executables. Read the FramePort README.

Install and launch a title
Open the game in FramePort and choose Install on Frame. When installation finishes, put on the headset, open Steam Library and launch the game’s shortcut.

Check whether a Quest game works
Compatibility is title-specific. FramePort’s catalog groups tested titles as working, working with known issues, or not running. In the catalog retrieved on October 4, 2026, Asgard’s Wrath 2 and Batman: Arkham Shadow were marked working; Arcsmith and Assassin’s Creed Nexus were marked working with issues; Espire 1: VR Operative (Quest Edition) and Journey of the Gods were marked not running. These are FramePort project-maintained results, not Valve certifications or independent test results. The live catalog can change, so check the current entry for your exact title: FramePort compatibility catalog.
FramePort describes Quest APKs as translated through OVRPort and patched for Steam Frame’s Lepton runtime. A title’s Android basis alone does not prove compatibility: a game may need a specific patch, fail to start, or have visual or input problems. The project notes that automated launch checks can confirm a game starts, while visual quality must be checked in the headset. Unlisted titles may work, but their compatibility is not established by the catalog.

If setup or a game does not work
- FramePort does not connect: confirm the computer and headset are on the same network, FramePort is still open, and you entered the command it currently displays. The project says automatic connection can take about a minute.
- A game will not launch: check the current catalog for its status and any title-specific notes. A game marked not running is not fixed by reinstalling it through the same workflow.
- The game launches but looks or behaves incorrectly: verify the headset experience directly. A successful launch check does not establish that visuals, controls or the full game work correctly.
- You want to undo setup: follow the project’s current instructions for disabling Developer Mode, removing FramePort’s SSH key and uninstalling the app. FramePort setup and undo documentation.
