To set up the Logitech G920 on Xbox, connect the pedals to the wheel base, plug in the original AC adapter, connect the wheel directly to the console by USB, and wait for its automatic calibration. Then confirm that the Xbox recognizes the wheel and configure its controls inside a supported racing game.

The G920 works with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, but it does not work automatically with every racing game. The game must support Logitech force-feedback racing wheels. See Logitech’s G920 specifications and Xbox’s compatible accessories listings for the platform distinction.

What you need

  • Logitech G920 wheel base
  • G920 pedal unit
  • The original power adapter
  • An Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S console
  • A racing game that supports the G920
  • One free USB port on the console

The G920 is the Xbox/PC model. Do not confuse it with the Logitech G29, which is the PlayStation/PC model. The pedals connect to the wheel base through the DB-9 pedal connection. The wheel also requires a separate AC power connection because USB alone cannot power its force feedback.

Connect the G920 to Xbox

  1. Mount the wheel. Secure the wheel to a desk, table, or racing stand with its integrated clamps. If the table is unusually thick, remove the clamp extenders as described in the G920 user guide.
  2. Connect the pedals. Plug the pedal cable into the wheel base’s Pedal unit connection.
  3. Connect power. Plug the AC adapter into the wheel base’s Power connection, then connect the adapter directly to a wall outlet. Logitech specifies a 24 V, 1.75 A autoswitching adapter for the G920.
  4. Connect USB. Plug the wheel’s USB cable directly into the Xbox. Do not route it through a USB hub or similar intermediary. If the console does not detect the wheel, try another USB port.
  5. Wait for calibration. When the wheel powers on, it rotates fully in both directions and then returns to center. Do not hold or obstruct it during this process. The wheel is ready when calibration finishes.

The optional Logitech Driving Force Shifter is not required for the wheel or pedals to operate. It connects to the wheel base through the separate shifter port.

  • Premium Control: The Driving Force feedback racing wheel provides a detailed simulation of driving a real car, with helical gearing delivering smooth, quiet steering and a hand-stitched leather cover
  • Customizable Pedals: These pressure-sensitive nonlinear brake pedals provide a responsive, accurate braking feel on a sturdy base - with adjustable pedal faces for finer control

  • Up Your Game: Take your racing simulation to the next level with Driving Force accessories like the Driving Force Shifter or desk and rig mounts

Check whether Xbox recognizes the wheel

After calibration, press the G920’s D-pad on the Xbox home screen. D-pad navigation is Logitech’s recommended basic test when a G920 is not responding. If the D-pad moves through the Xbox interface, the console is receiving input from the wheel.

There is no Logitech-documented Xbox-wide calibration process that you need to run manually for normal setup. The wheel calibrates automatically when connected. Steering range, pedal dead zones, button assignments, and force-feedback behavior are normally configured in the individual game.

Configure the wheel in a racing game

Open the game’s Settings, Options, or Controls menu. Look for a Wheel, Steering Wheel, or controller-input section, then select the G920 if the game provides a device list.

Check or assign each input:

  • Steering
  • Throttle
  • Brake
  • Clutch
  • Paddle shifters
  • Face buttons, menu buttons, and other controls

Save the wheel profile or custom control preset before leaving the menu. If the game continues to use a standard controller profile, switch it to the wheel profile or create a custom mapping.

Forza Horizon 5 setup

Forza Horizon 5 lists the Logitech G920 (PC and Xbox) as a supported wheel. To create or edit its bindings, open Settings, choose Controller Settings, and use the Custom Controller Profile tab. The exact menu can change with game updates, but the wheel mappings are managed from the controller settings area.

Forza recommends starting with the default wheel settings and changing one setting at a time. Available wheel options include steering dead zones, steering linearity, vibration, force-feedback scale, center spring, wheel damper, and steering sensitivity. For the G920, Forza says reducing Wheel Damper and Center Spring may make tire feedback more noticeable. These are in-game tuning choices, not requirements for connecting the wheel to Xbox.

Update firmware using a Windows PC

You cannot run Logitech G HUB on Xbox. Logitech states that G HUB is not supported on Xbox, and firmware work that requires G HUB must be performed on a PC. This is optional for basic connection, but updating the wheel before troubleshooting compatibility can be useful.

  1. Connect the G920 to a Windows PC.
  2. Install and open Logitech G HUB.
  3. Select the wheel from the device list.
  4. Open its device settings with the gear icon.
  5. Install any firmware update G HUB reports.
  6. Disconnect the wheel from the PC and reconnect it directly to Xbox.

Forza also recommends updating wheel drivers and firmware on a PC or laptop, even when the wheel will ultimately be used with Xbox. The older standalone Logitech Firmware Update Tool is no longer supported or maintained, so G HUB is the current recommended method where applicable.

Troubleshooting

The wheel has no lights and does not calibrate

  1. Connect the power adapter directly to a wall outlet.
  2. Try another power source.
  3. Check that the power plug is fully seated in the wheel base.
  4. Check the USB connection at both ends.
  5. Try another Xbox USB port.
  6. Remove any USB hub or intermediary device.

The USB connection carries data, but the wheel’s force-feedback system needs its separate AC adapter. Use the correct adapter rather than relying on USB power. Logitech’s Xbox power troubleshooting guidance covers these checks.

The wheel calibrates, but Xbox does not respond

For an initial Xbox One connection problem, Logitech documents this recovery sequence:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Disconnect the G920 USB cable from the Xbox One.
  2. Press and hold the LSB, View, and Xbox buttons together.
  3. While holding all three buttons, reconnect the USB cable to the Xbox One.
  4. Release the buttons when the wheel begins calibrating.
  5. Test the D-pad on the Xbox One home screen.

Logitech labels this procedure specifically for Xbox One. It should not be treated as a separately documented Xbox Series X|S procedure. If the issue continues, fully restart the console, reconnect the wheel directly, and test another USB port.

logitech G920 Dual-motor Feedback Driving Force USB Racing Wheel with Responsive Pedals for Xbox One (Renewed)
  • Perfect Driving Experience: The Logitech G920 Racing Wheel for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC is engineered for the perfect driving experience with dual-motor force feedback, stainless steel paddle shifters, and a hand-stitched leather wheel
  • Dual-Motor Force Feedback: Feel your tires on every turn and type of terrain. Sense under and oversteer drifting with precision. Feel every weight shift and tire slip, and the road conditions that caused them
  • Motor Sport Construction: Driving Force handles the stress of racing action and is built for long-lasting reliability. Solid steel ball bearings are used in the wheel shaft. Stainless steel paddle shifters and pedals feel great under pressure
  • 900-Degree Rotation: The 900-degree lock-to-lock rotation of the Driving Force means you can turn the wheel two and a half times. It’s the same degree of motion as a steering wheel inside a car
  • Wheel Mounted Controls: All your controls are where you can reach them. The D-Pad, buttons, and paddle shifters are incorporated into the racing wheel. LED indicator lights positioned just above the center of the wheel tell you exactly when to up or down-shift so you maintain maximum acceleration without taking your eyes off the track

The wheel works in the Xbox menu but not in a game

This usually indicates a game-support or configuration issue rather than a basic console connection problem. Check that:

  • The game supports the Logitech G920 and force-feedback wheels.
  • The game is updated.
  • The wheel is selected in the game’s control settings.
  • The game is using a wheel profile rather than a controller profile.
  • Steering and pedal inputs are manually assigned if the game did not detect them automatically.

Test another supported racing game if possible. Xbox compatibility does not guarantee support in every title.

The pedals do not work

  1. Confirm that the wheel base has power and completed calibration.
  2. Confirm that the pedal cable is firmly connected to the wheel base.
  3. Confirm that the wheel’s USB cable is connected directly to Xbox.
  4. Check that throttle, brake, and clutch are mapped to the correct functions in the game.
  5. Check whether the game reverses or inverts the pedal axes.

The pedal set includes throttle, brake, and clutch. Clutch behavior is game-dependent, and the game must support and map it. Logitech identifies the Driving Force Shifter as required for proper use of the G920 clutch pedal in supported games; therefore, a clutch pedal that works electrically may still not function as expected without the shifter or suitable game support. See Logitech’s clutch guidance and pedal troubleshooting steps.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Force feedback stops, but the controls still work

The G920 has thermal protection. If the wheel becomes too hot, force feedback can temporarily shut off while other controls continue operating. Disconnect the wheel, let it cool, and reconnect it. If the behavior happens repeatedly, contact Logitech support rather than continuing to operate it under the same conditions.

Assetto Corsa Competizione does not recognize the wheel

Logitech documented a game-specific Xbox One workaround for Assetto Corsa Competizione:

  1. Start a practice session with the normal controller.
  2. Enter the driving session.
  3. Turn off or disconnect the controller.
  4. Connect the G920 and allow it to calibrate.
  5. Press A on the wheel to dismiss the controller-disconnected message.
  6. Select the player profile.
  7. Open the game’s controller menu and select the racing wheel.
  8. Set the steering ratio to 900 if necessary.
  9. Map the inputs manually and save the custom preset.

This is an ACC-specific workaround, not a required step for ordinary G920 installation. See Logitech’s published ACC troubleshooting procedure.

Common setup mistakes

  • Using a G29 guide: the G29 is the PlayStation/PC version; use Xbox-specific G920 instructions.
  • Skipping the power adapter: USB alone does not supply force-feedback power.
  • Using a USB hub: Logitech recommends a direct console connection.
  • Installing G HUB on Xbox: Xbox does not support the software; use a Windows PC for firmware work.
  • Assuming every racing game supports the wheel: support is determined by the individual game.
  • Expecting automatic clutch operation: clutch support, mapping, and shifter requirements vary by game.
