If you bought the hockey-puck accessory for Pokémon Sleep, the product is Pokémon GO Plus + (also written Pokémon GO Plus+), not the older Poké Ball Plus. Before your first night, fully charge it, check that the top LED is not blinking red, pair it with Pokémon Sleep, set the alarm and bedtime options, and leave silent mode off if you want Pikachu to wake you. Then disconnect the accessory, place it flat near your pillow, and hold the main button until it glows blue. The device has no battery-saver mode, its battery is not user-replaceable, and Nintendo says never to sleep-track while the charging cable is connected.

What product are you actually setting up?
The current sleep-capable accessory is Pokémon GO Plus +. It pairs with Pokémon GO and Pokémon Sleep and contains a Nightcap Pikachu that sings lullabies, acts as an alarm, gathers Berries for Snorlax, and unlocks additional cries as its friendship increases. Nintendo launched it in the United States on 14 July 2023 and in Europe on 21 July 2023. The device is approximately 64.5 mm in diameter, 18.3 mm thick, and 50 g.
It is not the Poké Ball Plus, the Joy-Con-style ball made for Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, and Pokémon Sword and Shield. The original Pokémon GO Plus bracelet is also different. Among these three accessories, only GO Plus + connects to Pokémon Sleep and provides the Nightcap Pikachu features.

Nintendo listed a regular price of $59.99 on its Nintendo.com product listing checked in October 2026, but that store showed the item sold out or no longer available. The box includes the GO Plus +, a strap with clip, a USB charging cable and an operations manual. A USB AC adapter is not included.
What should I do before the first night?
Use this order. It prevents the most common failures: starting with a low battery, muting the alarm accidentally, or trying to begin tracking while the app is still connected.
- Charge the device completely, then unplug it. Use the included HAC-010 USB cable with a USB power source rated 5 V 500 mA, or Nintendo USB AC Adapter CLV-003. Nintendo specifies approximately 3 hours 30 minutes for a full charge. A blinking red charge LED means the battery is empty, steady orange means charging, and steady green means full. Remove the cable before putting the accessory on the bed.
- Check the battery before bedtime. Press the top button once. A blinking red light means low battery. Two yellow blinks mean greatly reduced charge; one yellow blink means slightly reduced charge; steady green means mostly charged. If the LED is blinking red, charge before starting a session.
- Pair Pokémon Sleep. In the app, open Main Menu → Settings and More → Pair a Device → Pair Device, then follow the prompts. When pairing succeeds, the GO Plus + icon appears in the lower-right corner of the Pokémon Sleep home screen.
- Open the GO Plus + controls and set the night options. Tap the lower-right GO Plus + icon, choose Connect, and configure Alarm, Bedtime Notifications, Relaxing Sounds, Bedtime, vibration and Auto-Sync before night one.
- Choose silent mode only after deciding whether you need the alarm. Silent mode mutes Pikachu and suspends alarms and notifications. If Pikachu is your wake-up alarm, keep silent mode off and reduce individual sounds in Pokémon Sleep instead.
- Disconnect and start tracking on the device. Sleep tracking cannot start while GO Plus + is connected to the app. Lay it flat on the mattress near the pillow, attach the strap and clip if desired, and hold the main button until it glows blue and vibrates lightly.
How long does Pokémon GO Plus + battery last?
Pokémon Support’s Technical FAQ, updated 30 January 2026, says: “If you connect Pokémon GO Plus + to Pokémon GO for two to three hours a day, we estimate that the battery will last about a week.” That is a daytime Pokémon GO estimate, not a guaranteed figure for all-night sleep tracking or for a mix of walking, catching and overnight tracking. No published official overnight or mixed-use battery-life figure is available.
The accessory uses an internal lithium-ion battery and a USB-C port. Pokémon Support says there is no battery-saver mode, and the battery cannot be removed. Nintendo’s health-and-safety guidance says not to replace the battery and to charge the device at least once every six months, even if it has been stored.
What does a blinking red light mean?
Press the top button while the device is idle. Blinking red means low battery and is a cue to charge before tracking. During a sleep session, a red glow means the accessory is not lying flat; place it level on the mattress and restart tracking.
Which charger and cable should I use?
Use the supplied HAC-010 cable and a USB-compatible source rated 5 V 500 mA, or Nintendo’s CLV-003 USB AC adapter, which is sold separately. Nintendo specifically advises using the included cable when recharging. Do not use the device while it is charging, including for sleep tracking, and always remove the cable before sleep to avoid heat buildup and cable-related hazards.

Which Pokémon Sleep settings matter first?
After you tap the GO Plus + icon and select Connect, these controls determine what Pikachu does at bedtime and in the morning.
Alarm
The Alarm setting sends a wake-up time to GO Plus +. Pikachu plays the alarm on the device. This is separate from bedtime reminders and relaxing sounds, so verify the alarm time directly rather than assuming a bedtime notification will wake you.
Sleep → Bedtime Notifications
Bedtime Notifications are reminders that it is time to go to bed. They do not start tracking automatically; you still begin a session with the main button after disconnecting the accessory.
Sleep → Relaxing Sounds
Relaxing Sounds controls Pikachu’s lullabies when tracking starts. If you want a quiet bedroom but still need the morning alarm, leave hardware silent mode off and adjust this individual sound in Pokémon Sleep.

The bedtime shown in Pokémon Sleep is copied to GO Plus +. Starting a session at that bedtime uses a different Pikachu cry, so set the time in the app before placing the device on the mattress.
Vibration
Pokémon Sleep can disable many device vibrations through its device settings, but Pokémon Support says, “You can’t disable the vibrations that occur at the start and end of sleep tracking.” Those start and end signals remain even when other vibration options are turned off.

Auto-Sync with Pokémon GO Plus +
Keep Auto-Sync or Auto-Connect enabled if you want Pokémon Sleep to detect the accessory when you open the app in the morning. If it is disabled, you must connect manually from the GO Plus + controls.
How do I turn off Pikachu sounds at night?
Use the hardware’s silent mode only when you also accept that the alarm and notifications will stop. Hold the top button, then press and hold the main button for at least one second. Two brief vibrations indicate silent mode on; one vibration indicates silent mode off.

Nintendo also says alarms, sound, vibration and light from alarms are suspended. The device’s ordinary button lights and some tracking indicators are not globally disabled by silent mode, and Pokémon Support says the button lights cannot be turned off. For a shared bedroom, the safer compromise is usually silent mode off with Relaxing Sounds, bedtime notifications or other individual sounds reduced in Pokémon Sleep, preserving the wake-up alarm.
How do I start sleep tracking with GO Plus +?
Prepare the device first: it must be charged, paired with Pokémon Sleep for setup, then disconnected from the app before tracking begins. The official Sleep site says, “You cannot begin sleep tracking when your Pokémon GO Plus + is connected to the app.”
- Place GO Plus + flat on the mattress near your pillow. The included clip is magnetic and removable; remove the clip when you need to attach the strap in another way.
- Press and hold the main button. A blue glow and light vibration confirm that tracking has started. If the device glows red, it is not level; put it flat on the mattress and try again.
- Leave it in place while you sleep. Wireless communication turns off automatically during tracking. A short press during a session should produce a blue light, soft vibration and Pikachu’s voice unless silent mode is active.
- In the morning, press and hold the main button again to end the session. Pikachu sings and the button cycles through colors as the session closes.
A recording of 90 minutes or less is invalid for sleep tracking and the main button glows red. GO Plus + does not record sound, so it cannot capture snoring, conversations or other audio.
How should I sync sleep data, and what can make it disappear?
Open Pokémon Sleep soon after waking and let Auto-Sync connect, or use the manual Connect control. Pokémon Support says you can report up to eight sessions at once, but data that is 14 days old or older cannot be reported. Do not unpair the accessory while unsynced sessions remain: unpairing deletes unsynced sleep data stored on the device.

Phone-only Pokémon Sleep tracking remains available, but it does not increase Nightcap Pikachu’s friendship. Pokémon Support states that the special Pikachu becomes friendlier only when sleep is tracked with GO Plus +.
Why is Nightcap Pikachu not getting friendlier?
Friendship is tied to sleep tracked with GO Plus +, not to ordinary phone-on-mattress tracking. Continue recording valid sessions with the accessory and sync them to Pokémon Sleep. New cries unlock automatically as friendship grows; cries unlocked on a previous phone carry over.
The Nightcap Pikachu can gather more Berries and unlock additional alarm songs as friendship rises. Pokémon Sleep also provides a special Nightcap Pikachu profile icon and, after Pokémon Sleep Version 1.10.0, up to 500 diamonds based on total sleep tracked with GO Plus +. Pairing GO Plus + with Pokémon GO can additionally unlock Special Research for a Nightcap Snorlax encounter.

GO Plus + is optional for Pokémon Sleep but can be configured in Pokémon GO under Settings → Connected Devices and Services → Accessory Devices. Available options include auto-spinning PokéStops, automatic throwing of regular Poké Balls, and button-throwing with Great Balls or Ultra Balls. Enable Share Sleep Data with Pokémon GO if you want sleep-related rewards such as buddy hearts, Stardust, stickers and the Catching Some Z’s research. These Pokémon GO features do not replace the Pokémon Sleep pairing or the physical start-and-stop procedure.

Pokémon Support’s Technical FAQs, updated 30 January 2026, list Apple iOS 13 or later and Android 8.0 or later, while the older product page still prints Android 7 and up, iOS 14 and up, and iPhone 7 or newer. Support can change in future updates, so check the exact phone and app versions before purchase. The current Support FAQ is the better guide when the two statements differ.
- One GO Plus + can be connected to one smart device at a time.
- The accessory connects to Pokémon GO and Pokémon Sleep, not third-party sleep apps.
- It is not compatible with Nintendo Switch family systems and cannot operate by itself without a compatible phone for pairing and data transfer.
- Sleep data uploaded to Pokémon Sleep includes bedtime, wake-up time and time in each sleep stage.
What safety limits should I know?
The device, strap and clip contain a magnet and wireless transmitter. Nintendo and Pokémon Support warn that they may interfere with pacemakers and defibrillators; do not use the accessory if you have such an implanted device. Do not operate it while driving, do not disassemble it, and do not let it dangle from the strap while traveling.
