txAdmin is already bundled with FXServer, so you do not install it as a separate resource. Download a current recommended FXServer artifact, launch it without +exec server.cfg, open the printed txAdmin address (normally http://localhost:40120), complete the owner setup, and deploy either a new recipe-based server or an existing data folder. The web panel and the game server use different ports: txAdmin normally listens on TCP 40120, while FiveM commonly uses port 30120 for player connections.
What txAdmin does and what you need first
txAdmin is the web control panel included with FXServer. It provides server deployment, configuration editing and validation, live console access, logs, resource controls, performance visibility, player moderation, allowlisting, and an in-game admin menu. The first account linked during setup becomes the txAdmin master account.

Before starting, decide whether you are building a new server or importing an existing one. You also need an account on the Cfx.re service for server registration and a server registration key generated in the Cfx.re Portal. A framework-based recipe may additionally require a database server, credentials, and a minimum FXServer version.
- A Windows or Linux machine on which the FXServer process can write to its installation and data directories.
- A current recommended FXServer artifact for your operating system.
- A dedicated, writable folder for the extracted server files and a separate server-data location.
- Firewall and provider access to the game port (normally 30120) and to the txAdmin panel port (normally 40120).
- Backups of any existing server-data folder and the
txDatadirectory before importing or changing a production server.
Managed hosts may supply the FXServer artifact, port bindings, storage and panel URL through their own control panel. In that case, follow the host’s startup controls, but still apply the account, recipe, backup and network checks below.

Choose the right setup route

Do not mix the routes casually. A recipe is intended to create or transform a particular layout; pointing it at unrelated production files can overwrite configuration or resources.
Download and launch FXServer
1. Download and extract the artifact
Use a current recommended FXServer artifact from the official Cfx.re server-download channel. Extract it into a dedicated folder where the account running the process has write permission. Keep the extracted runtime separate from your server-data folder so updates and backups are easier to manage.
2. Start on Windows
- Open the extracted FXServer directory.
- Run
FXServer.exe. - Do not append
+exec server.cfgon this first launch. Starting without that argument lets FXServer start txAdmin in monitor mode and present the setup flow. - Read the console output and copy the URL it prints. If the browser does not open automatically and you are on the same machine, browse to
http://localhost:40120.
3. Start on Linux
- Change to the extracted FXServer directory.
- Ensure the launcher is executable, then run
./run.sh. - As on Windows, omit
+exec server.cfgfor the initial txAdmin setup. - Open the URL printed in the terminal. From the host itself, the normal local address is
http://localhost:40120.
The panel port is a web-management port, not the port players use to join. A successful browser connection only proves that the txAdmin listener is reachable from that browser; it does not prove that the FiveM endpoint is reachable from the internet.
Complete the first-run txAdmin wizard
Enter the setup PIN
FXServer prints a one-time setup PIN in its console. Enter that PIN in the txAdmin page shown by the launcher. Treat it as a secret: anyone who obtains it during the initial setup can attempt to claim the panel.
Link the owner account
Follow the sign-in flow to link the server owner’s Cfx.re account. This linked account becomes the txAdmin master account and should be reserved for the operator who owns the server. Do not distribute the master login to moderators or developers.
Create the backup password
Set the requested backup password and store it in a password manager. Keep both the setup credentials and the password private. After the owner account is established, create separate staff accounts in Admin Manager and grant each role only the permissions it needs.

Confirm the panel address and storage
txAdmin stores its operational data under txData. Include that directory in your backup plan. If you move the installation, make sure the process user can read and write both the runtime and data paths.
Deploy a new FiveM server with a recipe
1. Select a compatible recipe
In the deployment wizard, choose a FiveM-compatible recommended recipe that matches the framework you intend to run. Check its required FXServer version, database engine and credentials before proceeding. A recipe that targets a different framework or minimum version can fail even when txAdmin itself is working.
2. Use an empty deployment directory
For a new server, select an empty folder. Do not point a fresh recipe at a directory containing another server’s resources, configuration or cache. Keeping the deployment clean makes it possible to identify which files the recipe created.
3. Review the recipe source and tasks
A recipe is a YAML document containing metadata, variables and sequential tasks. Read the source before clicking deploy. Tasks may:
- Download files or archives from remote repositories.
- Write or replace configuration values.
- Unzip archives and create directories.
- Connect to a database and execute SQL queries.
- Replace strings across generated files.
Pay particular attention to options that remove or reset existing database data. For a custom recipe, use a clean test folder and a disposable test database first. The recipe-deployer documentation describes creating a server “in under 60 seconds”; that is a product claim from Cfx.re, not an independently measured guarantee, and network speed, database setup and task count can make deployment take longer.
4. Enter variables and credentials
Supply the server name and the Cfx.re server registration key. Generate the key in the Cfx.re Portal and paste it exactly as issued. If the recipe uses a framework database, enter the database host, name, user and password it requests. Avoid putting production credentials into an untested recipe.

5. Run and monitor deployment
Start the deployment and wait for each task to complete. Tasks run in order and stop at the first failure. If a task fails, record its exact error and correct that cause; repeatedly redeploying without changing the failed input can compound partial files or database changes.
Import an existing server safely
Back up before opening the wizard
Make a restorable copy of the entire existing server-data directory and the txAdmin txData directory. Include your current server.cfg, resource folders and any database export required by the framework. Verify that the backup can be read before you alter the live copy.

In the wizard, select the option for an existing server. Point it at the correct server-data folder and explicitly select its server.cfg. Do not select the FXServer runtime directory by mistake; the runtime contains the executable and supporting files, while server-data contains resources and configuration.
Do not overlay a recipe on production
Importing an existing server is different from deploying a recipe. Do not run a new recipe over a working production resource set unless you have tested the exact transformation on a copy and understand every file and SQL operation it performs.
Check configuration, then start the server
Read the generated or imported server.cfg
After deployment or import, open the server.cfg editor and validator in txAdmin. Check the server name, registration key setting, endpoints, resource start lines, database connection values and any allowlist or permission settings. Remove duplicate or obsolete entries rather than layering new values on top of them.
Verify endpoints and resource order
Confirm that the game endpoint is bound to the intended interface and port. The commonly used FiveM game port is 30120; the actual value in your configuration and provider panel is authoritative. Check that every resource named in the configuration exists in the selected server-data folder and that dependencies start before the resources that require them.

Use Save and Run Server
When validation passes, use txAdmin’s Save and Run Server action. Watch Live Console through the complete startup rather than assuming that a panel status change means the server is ready. Look for resource errors, database connection failures, missing files and endpoint-binding messages.
Make the server reachable from outside the host
Understand the two ports

These are typical defaults, not a promise that every host uses them. Read the endpoints shown in your server.cfg and the port mapping supplied by your provider.
Check the host firewall
Allow inbound traffic to the game endpoint on the protocol and port your configuration uses. If you need remote administration, allow txAdmin’s TCP port only from trusted networks where possible; exposing the panel broadly increases the attack surface. On a home connection, also check router port forwarding and whether the internet service uses carrier-grade NAT.

Check provider networking
A cloud or managed host can impose an external port, private address, security group or proxy mapping that differs from the local port. Confirm that the assigned public port forwards to the FXServer process and that UDP is included when required. A panel that opens in your browser does not validate any of these game-network settings.
Test from a different network
Join using a client outside the server’s local network, such as a separate internet connection. Testing only with localhost or the host’s LAN address can hide a blocked public route. If the external test fails, compare the public address and mapped port with the endpoint in server.cfg, then inspect firewall and provider logs.

The browser cannot open txAdmin
- Confirm FXServer is still running and that the console printed a URL.
- On the host, try
http://localhost:40120; a remote browser must use the host’s reachable address and an allowed TCP path. - Check whether another process already occupies the panel port.
- Verify that the process account can write to the installation and txData directories.
- On managed hosting, use the panel URL and port mapping supplied by the provider rather than assuming localhost.
The setup PIN or owner linking fails
Restarting the process can produce a new setup state only when the initial setup was not completed; do not share the PIN. Ensure the browser reaches the same FXServer instance that printed it, and complete the Cfx.re account linking flow before attempting to create staff accounts.

A recipe stops partway through
Read the first failed task and its error. Common causes include an unavailable repository, an invalid branch or file reference, a network interruption, GitHub rate limits, incorrect database credentials, insufficient filesystem permissions or invalid SQL. Correct the underlying input, restore from backup if the task changed data, and rerun only after confirming what the earlier tasks already created.

The server starts but players cannot join
- Confirm the game endpoint in server.cfg and the public/provider mapping use the same port.
- Allow the endpoint through the host firewall and provider security rules for both required protocols.
- Check that the server has registered with the Cfx.re service and that the registration key is valid.
- Read Live Console for resource crashes, database errors or a failed endpoint bind.
- Repeat the test from outside the host’s local network.
A resource is missing or fails at startup
Check the resource folder name, its start line and dependency order. A recipe may have downloaded an archive into an extra nested directory, or an import may point server.cfg at a path that no longer exists. Correct the path, save the configuration, and restart while watching Live Console.
Manage staff and daily operations
Use Admin Manager to create individual staff accounts instead of sharing the master account. Assign only the permissions required for each role, such as moderation, resource control or configuration editing. This preserves an attributable audit trail and limits damage if one account is compromised.
txAdmin’s operational tools include start, stop and restart controls for the server and resources, a server.cfg editor and validator, Live Console, logs, performance visibility, player moderation, allowlisting and an in-game admin menu. Establish a routine for reviewing logs, taking backups before resource or database changes, and testing restores on a non-production copy.
Version-sensitive launch configuration
txAdmin v8.0.0 introduced TXHOST_* environment variables for advanced and provider deployments. The older txAdminPort, txAdminInterface and txDataPath ConVars are marked deprecated. When both styles are present, the newer environment settings take priority. Do not copy an old launch example blindly: check the reference for the txAdmin version bundled with your FXServer artifact and remove conflicting legacy values.

Security and maintenance checklist
- Keep the setup PIN, owner credentials and backup password private.
- Create named staff accounts with least-privilege permissions.
- Restrict remote access to the txAdmin TCP port whenever practical.
- Back up server-data, txData and the framework database before recipes, resource updates or configuration migrations.
- Test custom recipes in a clean folder and disposable database.
- Record the FXServer artifact and txAdmin version used for each deployment.
- Review recipe tasks for downloads, archive extraction, string replacement and SQL that can alter existing data.
- After every change, validate server.cfg and observe a full startup in Live Console.
- Test player access from an external network after firewall or provider changes.
Quick setup sequence
- Download and extract a current recommended FXServer artifact to a writable dedicated folder.
- Launch
FXServer.exeon Windows or./run.shon Linux without+exec server.cfg. - Open the printed txAdmin URL, normally
http://localhost:40120on the host. - Enter the setup PIN, link the owner’s Cfx.re account and create the backup password.
- Select a new-server recipe with an empty folder, or select existing-server import with the correct server-data folder and server.cfg.
- Back up existing data and txData before any import or transformation.
- Inspect recipe tasks, enter the server name, registration key and any database values, then deploy.
- Investigate the specific failed task if deployment stops; do not blindly redeploy.
- Validate server.cfg, endpoints and resources, then choose Save and Run Server.
- Check firewall and provider mappings for txAdmin and the game endpoint, and test a join from outside the host.
