A method for gathering up to six Alpha Pokémon at once in Wild Zone 20 was reported in November 2025, and it is the setup most often described as a six-Alpha shiny hunt in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The reported routine lures Alphas into a group, then resets the area so new Alphas spawn and can be checked each cycle. It is not new, and no source reviewed for this article confirms that it works on the current version of the game as of October 2026. The most recent report covers version 1.0.2 only, so treat the method as historical reporting until you verify it yourself.
Why Alpha Pokémon make this method possible
The Pokémon Company’s official Pokémon Legends: Z-A description (dated July 22, 2025) says Alpha Pokémon are larger than their regular counterparts, have glowing red eyes, and are especially powerful and difficult to catch. The same page warns: “These alpha Pokémon will chase and attack you once they notice you, so do your best to avoid getting hit while battling.” That aggression is the mechanic the reported method relies on. Alphas that notice you move toward you, so they can be drawn across a zone, and the setup depends on that behavior.

Where the reported method takes place
The method is reported for Wild Zone 20. According to Nintendo Wire’s guide of November 7, 2025, the zone has two randomly spawning Alpha spots near its center. The guide credits the method to a video by Austin John Plays. Nintendo Wire’s description is the most detailed account of the steps, and the other sources reviewed for this article do not reproduce them.
The reported setup, step by step
The steps below follow the November 2025 guide. They describe that guide’s reported method and have not been independently tested for this article. Note that the guide was written for the version current in November 2025.

- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.

- Start at the Centrico Pokémon Center and travel to Wild Zone 20.
- Clear nearby wild Pokémon so they do not interfere with the Alphas.
- Rest to establish a day or night period in the game.
- Attract the two central Alphas and lead them toward the zone entrance.
- Exit the zone, save, then reload. Repeat the lure so the Alphas stay displaced from the center.
- Walk roughly 60 meters away from the entrance, save, and reload. Repeat the lure with newly spawned Alphas until up to six have been gathered.
- For the final phase, let the Alphas attack until you black out. After you return, the guide says the group will be under the tower, where it can be checked through repeated resets.
Resetting the area and protecting the group
The guide describes two ways to reset the area between checks, and they are not equal in risk:
- Fainting (recommended in the guide): blacking out returns you to the tower and does not trigger an autosave, which the guide calls safer.
- Fast travel: the guide says this can also reset the area, but it does trigger an autosave, so a mistake can be saved into your game.
- Disruption rule: catching or defeating an Alpha breaks up the accumulated group. A replacement is not spawned until the active total drops back to two, so the setup has to be rebuilt from the start.
- New spawns per reset: the guide says each reset produces new Alpha spawns, which increases the number checked in each cycle.

How to check whether it still works on your version
Because the reported result is tied to the version it was tested on, verify it before relying on it:
- Confirm which version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A your copy runs, and whether you are on a Switch or Switch 2 edition.
- Run the setup once in a save you can afford to lose. Keep a backup of the save file before you start if your platform allows it.
- After the first reset, count the Alphas that appear under the tower. If the count does not match the reported pattern of new spawns each cycle, the method may not work on your version.
- If the group disappears before the reset, check whether you defeated or caught an Alpha. That is the reported cause of disruption.
- If the method fails, do not assume the exploit is broken for everyone. Record your version and the step where it stopped, then compare it with the November 2025 reports.
Optional: automating repetitive inputs
A November 2, 2025 Reddit post describes using a macro-capable controller to repeat inputs for the hunt, with timings aimed at Switch 2. The post names example controllers. It is anecdotal community advice, not a required or verified part of the method, and the timings may need adjusting on Switch 1. Treat any accessory as a convenience, not a prerequisite, and check that your controller’s macro function is allowed on your platform before using it.

Reported method compared with ordinary Alpha hunting
The comparison below uses only the axes the sources address. No success rate or shiny odds is stated anywhere, so none is given here.
| Factor | Reported six-Alpha method | Ordinary Alpha hunting |
|---|---|---|
| Alphas checked per reset | Up to six gathered, with new spawns each reset (Nintendo Wire, November 7, 2025) | Not stated in the sources reviewed |
| Setup effort | Multi-stage lure, save, and reload routine across Wild Zone 20 | Not stated in the sources reviewed |
| Version certainty | Reported to survive version 1.0.2 (GamesRadar+, November 6, 2025); not confirmed on the current version | Not applicable |
| Disruption risk | Catching or defeating one Alpha breaks the group; rebuilding is required | Not stated in the sources reviewed |
In practice, the reported method’s main trade-off is effort against verification. It promises more Alphas per cycle, but it requires a lengthy setup and a version you can confirm.
