To use a different Fortnite account on PS5, change the Epic Games account linked to your PlayStation account. Do this in a web browser through Epic’s Linked accounts settings, and finish linking the intended account before launching Fortnite. Your Fortnite progress and purchases remain with the Epic Games account that holds them; unlinking does not transfer them.
Before you change the linked account
Fortnite on PS5 uses the Epic Games account linked to the PlayStation account. First identify which Epic account contains the progress and purchases you want to use. Do not choose based only on email address: the email on your PlayStation account can differ from the email on your Epic account. Epic explains that progress is tied to the Epic account, not moved between accounts by unlinking or relinking. - If you are unsure which account has your Fortnite progress, sign in to each possible Epic account and check before unlinking.
- Unlinking removes that PlayStation account’s access to the Epic account’s data; it does not move skins, purchases, or progress to another Epic account.
- If you launch Fortnite while the PlayStation account is unlinked, Epic says the console may create a new, empty Epic account with no progression.
- If the PlayStation account you plan to remove has an active Fortnite Crew subscription, Epic advises cancelling it first. After unlinking, new Crew rewards will no longer be received through that linked platform account.
Switch the Epic account linked to your PS5
- On a phone or computer, open Epic Games in a browser. If the site is already signed in, sign out so you can verify the account before making changes.
- Sign in to the Epic Games account currently linked to your PlayStation account. You can use Epic credentials or the PlayStation sign-in option. Epic Games Support: changing a linked console account.
- Open your account settings and select Linked accounts. Find the PlayStation account and choose Unlink. Review Epic’s warning and continue only if you have confirmed this is the account you intend to remove.
- If Epic requires you to remove a platform-linking restriction, follow its on-screen instructions. This restriction-removal action is available only once every 365 days. Epic Games Support: linking a different platform account.
- Link the PlayStation account to the Epic Games account that holds the Fortnite progress you want. Complete the linking process before starting Fortnite on your PS5.
- Launch Fortnite and confirm that the expected progress appears.
If the wrong Fortnite account appears
Check which Epic account is linked to your PlayStation account, then compare it with the account that holds your main Fortnite progress. If they are different, Epic’s troubleshooting guidance is to link the PlayStation account to the Epic account with the desired progress. Do not launch the game while the console account is unlinked, since that can result in a new empty Epic account being created. Epic Games Support: PlayStation progress sync.
