The Chapter 3 cable-and-battery puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow has one fixed solution. Activate the modules in this order: GEN → Ψ01 → Ψ04 → Ψ02 → Ψ03 → Ψ06 → Σ04 → Σ03 → Σ01 → Σ02 → Ψ08 → Θ03 → Δ02 → Δ03 → λ02 → λ03 → λ01 → Ψ07. You must move power to a module connected to the one activated immediately before it, and no module may be used twice. End at Ψ07, the terminal wired to the batteries.
The puzzle takes place in the R&D Headquarters machine hall. The two players occupy different floors, so one player normally reads the network while the other reaches the required console. Use the walkie-talkie to coordinate every press.

What is the correct GEN-to-Ψ07 order?
Follow the 18-node sequence exactly. The route is fixed rather than randomized, so a failed attempt is usually caused by a skipped node, a wrong door assumption, or a repeated module.

Do not press ahead because a module appears nearby. Cable adjacency is mandatory: the next console must be directly connected to the one that just lit. Once a module has been activated, treat it as spent for the rest of the run.

How should the two players coordinate each activation?
Call out one identifier at a time. The player who can physically reach that module presses it, reports that its light came on, and only then receives the next identifier. This confirmation rhythm prevents both players from acting on an outdated branch.
- Start at
GENand confirm that it is lit. - Call
Ψ01; wait for confirmation. - Continue through each identifier in the published order, checking the light after every press.
- When the final player activates
Ψ07, verify that the battery circuit completes rather than immediately moving to another console.
The players do not need to activate every visible generator or console. Only the listed route is required for the standard solution.

Which modules open the RED, GRE, and BLU doors?
The colored consoles are door controls, not extra modules in the sequence. Pressing the correct control exposes a new group, but the newly exposed module still has to be cable-connected to the previous activation.

In the route, Σ03 opens RED before the run proceeds to Σ01; Σ02 opens GRE before Θ03; and Δ03 opens BLU before the Lambda modules. Opening a door does not allow an arbitrary choice inside it.

Where are the battery checkpoints?
The battery indicators require specific checkpoints, not a separate battery-switch sequence. The route reaches all of them in order.

If a battery appears to stop charging, check that Ψ02, Θ03, and λ03 have all lit during the same run. Reaching Ψ07 is still necessary because it is the final battery terminal.

What should I do if the chain breaks?
Diagnose the failure from the last confirmed light rather than guessing at the next console.
- Required door is closed: confirm that
Σ03,Σ02, orΔ03was activated at the correct point. - Next module is not connected: the sequence has diverged; do not press an unconnected console.
- A needed module was already used: a duplicate activation is invalid, so restart rather than trying to reuse it.
- No valid continuation remains: both players should pull the reset levers together.
After a reset, return to GEN and replay the complete sequence. Resetting together matters; a one-sided reset can leave the two floors out of sync.

Do I need an alternate route or a randomized solution?
No. The standard Chapter 3 puzzle uses the same fixed route for every playthrough. The challenge is coordinating two locations and respecting adjacency and no-reuse rules, not discovering a procedurally generated path.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can one player solve this puzzle alone?
The machine hall is designed for two players on separate floors, and the module layout requires communication. A solo player would need to control both positions, which the normal co-op setup does not provide.

Visibility only means its door has been opened. The module must also be directly connected to the last lit module; otherwise the console is not a legal next step.
What does a lit module confirm?
It confirms that the previous activation succeeded and establishes the reference point for the next cable connection. Wait for that visual confirmation before calling another ID.
When should we reset instead of backtracking?
Reset as soon as the chain has no connected, unused next module or a required module was spent early. The puzzle does not provide a safe backtrack, so both players should reset together and restart at GEN.
