Lyrical Games describes the feature this way: “The new mode will invite players to play through the game a second time with new challenges and tougher enemies, all while keeping loot and character progression from the first playthrough.” That statement establishes the broad design:
- New Game+ is a second campaign playthrough.
- Enemies will be tougher than in the initial run.
- The mode adds new challenges.
- Loot and character progression are intended to carry over.
It does not establish whether every item carries over, whether currencies or quest rewards are reset, how enemy difficulty scales, or whether the mode changes endings and objectives. Those details require an official feature description or patch notes.
How to start New Game Plus when the update arrives
The following sequence is the safest practical way to look for the mode once the Q4 update is installed. Only the update and menu checks are practical guidance; Lyrical Games has not published these as the official activation steps.

- Keep your existing save. Do not delete a completed or active campaign save to make room for New Game+. No source says that deleting a save is necessary, and doing so could remove your only progress.
- Install the New Game+ update. Wait for the update to appear on the platform where you play. Since no patch number has been announced, use the current official update information for your platform rather than a guide that names an unverified version.
- Launch the updated game and inspect the title screen. Look for a New Game+, New Playthrough, or similarly named option alongside the existing campaign choices. The exact label has not been announced.
- Check the save and load menus. If the title screen has no obvious entry, inspect the campaign or save-selection screens after updating. This is a troubleshooting check, not proof that the final interface will use that location.
- Read the on-screen confirmation before creating a run. Confirm which save or character the game will use and whether it warns about overwriting anything. The announcement promises retained loot and character progression, but it does not specify the save-handling behavior.
- Verify the carry-over after starting. Check your character’s progression and inventory before committing to major choices. The announced design says those categories should come from the first playthrough; the exact list of retained items is still pending official documentation.
If the option is missing after the update, do not assume that replaying the final mission, selecting a particular ending, or starting over will unlock it. None of those requirements has been published.
Do you have to beat the campaign first?

Valor Mortis is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Xbox on PC and Xbox Game Pass. The Q4 announcement does not provide a separate New Game+ rollout date for each platform, so simultaneous availability has not been confirmed.

Once the update is announced, check the patch information for the specific storefront or service you use. A Q4 window by itself does not prove that every platform receives the mode at exactly the same time.

The game has not downloaded an update
Check whether the Q4 release has actually been announced for your platform. The original announcement contains no patch number, so a version number quoted by an unofficial guide is not sufficient evidence. Confirm that the game is fully updated, then restart it and inspect the title screen again.
The game is updated but there is no New Game+ option
Check both the title screen and the save/load menus. If neither contains the mode, read the latest official patch notes or support information. The missing option could reflect a platform rollout difference, a requirement that has not been documented, or an update that has not installed correctly; the available announcement does not distinguish among those possibilities.
A guide tells you to replay the final mission or delete a save
Treat that instruction as unverified unless an official patch note or in-game message confirms it. No published source currently states that replaying the final mission, selecting a particular ending, or deleting an existing save unlocks New Game+.

Compare the result with the official update notes before assuming the feature is broken. - Which character progression systems remain active?
- How are tougher enemies and the new challenges implemented?
- Can an existing save still be loaded normally after creating a New Game+ run?
