How do I start the Mega Dimension DLC?
- Complete the main story. The Mega Dimension story is postgame content; Pokémon says you must finish the main story before you can progress through it. See The Pokémon Company’s DLC announcement.
- Confirm the expansion is available to play. Mega Dimension is paid DLC, sold through the Nintendo eShop, My Nintendo Store, and participating retailers, according to Pokémon’s DLC information.
- Load the save you used for the base game. The DLC continues on the same save data; you do not start a separate file.
- Follow the in-game prompt to Hotel Z’s rooftop. Nintendo says the game prompts you to head there to start a new side mission when the additional story content is playable. See Nintendo Support’s DLC access guidance.
- Begin the mission and continue the investigation. Ansha and Hoopa are part of the story involving spatial distortions and Hyperspace Lumiose, as described by Nintendo and Pokémon.
Where do I go to start Mega Dimension?
Go to the rooftop of Hotel Z after the game makes the DLC story available. The rooftop is the start location for the new side mission; the official instructions do not describe a separate menu option or a manual unlock sequence.
Why isn’t the Mega Dimension mission showing up?
First check the two established requirements: the main story is complete, and Mega Dimension is available to your game. Then load the same save used for Pokémon Legends: Z-A and look for the prompt to head to Hotel Z’s rooftop.
Nintendo’s published guidance identifies the story-completion gate and rooftop prompt, but does not specify a particular update version, account region, or purchase-verification step for cases where the prompt remains absent. If those checks do not resolve it, consult Nintendo Support’s current DLC access page rather than relying on an unverified workaround.

Does Mega Dimension work with Switch and Switch 2?
Pokémon lists compatibility with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and says the DLC can be accessed whether you own the original game or the Switch 2 Edition, provided the game and DLC are available to play on your system. The additional story content released on December 10, 2025, according to Pokémon’s launch announcement.
Pokémon has also announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension, a physical bundle scheduled for October 29, 2026. The announcement says both game and DLC are included on one game card; existing Switch 2 Edition owners need only buy Mega Dimension separately. The bundle is upcoming, not an option already available as of October 8, 2026. Details are in Pokémon’s bundle announcement.

No such requirement is stated for the DLC story. Pokémon’s note about approximately one hour of play concerns readjusting outfits and accessing Mystery Gift to enter a serial-code bonus; it is not identified as a Mega Dimension unlock condition. See the bonuses information.
