EA’s published description says unmodded Neighborhood Stories does not autonomously marry neighbor Sims. To control built-in neighborhood changes, use Manage Worlds > Manage Households; to stop MCCC-generated marriages, adjust MCCC’s marriage controls for the version you have installed.
Does Neighborhood Stories cause random marriages?
Not according to EA’s feature description: “Neighbor Sims will not autonomously get married for now.” EA does describe a neighbor accepting a marriage proposal if the Sims are already boyfriend and girlfriend, but that is different from two neighbors autonomously deciding to marry. Read EA’s Neighborhood Stories overview.
Neighborhood Stories does let non-active households experience other supported life changes. Its settings can be applied to My Households, Other Households, or individual households, and story types can be switched on or off. Those controls are useful for managing supported neighborhood events, but they are not a fix for autonomous marriages that EA says this feature does not generate. Is MCCC causing the random marriages?
If MC Command Center is installed, its optional MC Pregnancy module is a likely source to investigate. MCCC documentation says the module can let other households have children and get married, with random checks scheduled according to game speed and aging settings. Ask before each MCCC-generated marriage
MCCC 2026.5.0 added a Manual Confirmation option for random marriages at MCCC > MC Pregnancy > Other Marriage… > Manual Confirmation. It is disabled by default. Turning it on prompts you about each MCCC-generated marriage, so you can approve or reject it; it does not turn marriage automation off. See the official MCCC release notes and check the menu in your installed version.
Stop automatic MCCC marriages
If you want no automatic MCCC marriages rather than a prompt, use the marriage-probability control in the installed version and set it to zero for the relevant age groups if that option is available. MCCC menu labels and behavior can change between releases, so consult the documentation and in-game menus for your version rather than relying on instructions for a different release.

MCCC 2026.6.0 also documents a per-Sim MCCC > Sim Flags > MC Population > Flag to Never Move setting. It may bypass Sims for marriage behavior that requires a move-in, but it is a targeted flag with other consequences—not a general switch for disabling all marriages. Check the release notes for details.

- Open the Options menu and choose Manage Worlds.
- Choose Manage Households.
- Select the relevant household or household group, then review its Neighborhood Stories settings.
- Turn off any unwanted story types for that household, or adjust whether stories are enabled for My Households and Other Households.
This controls Neighborhood Stories events supported by the game. It does not disable MCCC or another mod, which has its own settings.

What to check if the marriage still seems unexplained
- Check installed mods. Look for MCCC, especially its MC Pregnancy module, or another mod that adds story progression. EA’s Neighborhood Stories description does not attribute autonomous neighbor marriages to the unmodded feature.
- Identify what actually happened. A proposal, engagement, household move, and completed marriage are different events. Check the Sims’ relationship status and household details before deciding which setting to change.
- Verify the mod version. MCCC is third-party software, and its behavior and compatibility can vary by release. EA says it does not pre-screen, endorse, or support specific mods or custom content. Before installing or updating MCCC, compare the release’s stated game-patch compatibility with your installed game version. EA’s mod policy and the MCCC release notes are the relevant references.
