A Roblox link is probably fake if it takes you outside the official Roblox environment, asks for your password or security code, promises free Robux or rare items, uses a look-alike domain, or pressures you to act immediately. The safest response is to avoid the received link, open the official Roblox website or app yourself, and navigate to the relevant page from there.
The fastest way to check a Roblox link
- Do not click it immediately. Treat unexpected links in chat, direct messages, comments, email, Discord, social media, and Roblox experiences as untrusted.
- Reveal the destination. On a computer, hover over the link without clicking. On a phone, press and hold it to preview the destination if your device provides that option.
- Read the real domain from right to left. The important part is the registrable domain immediately before the final extension, not the presence of the word “Roblox” somewhere in the address.
- Never enter Roblox credentials on an external page. Passwords, browser cookies, 2-Step Verification codes, backup codes, and other sensitive information belong only in the official Roblox website or official app login flow.
- When in doubt, start over independently. Type
roblox.comyourself or open the official Roblox app, then find the experience, message, account setting, or support page from inside that trusted environment.
How to read a Roblox URL correctly
A legitimate Roblox web address should use the roblox.com domain. That does not mean every link containing the word “Roblox” is official.

Look for substituted characters, unusual punctuation, extra words, unfamiliar country-code domains, spaces, and spelling mistakes. Scammers often choose an address that looks convincing when viewed quickly or on a small phone screen.

https:// and the padlock symbol indicate that your connection to a website is encrypted and that the browser has verified a certificate for that site. They do not prove that the site is operated by Roblox or that it is safe.

A scammer can create a convincing phishing page with HTTPS. Always inspect the site name in the address bar. If the domain is misspelled, belongs to another company, or does not match what you expected, close the page even if the browser shows a padlock.
Red flags that a Roblox link is fake
1. It promises free Robux or valuable items
Messages offering free Robux, free Premium, exclusive limited items, secret promo codes, cheats, or an instant account upgrade are common phishing lures. Roblox does not have sanctioned “free Robux” offers that require you to submit your password, complete an external verification, install software, or provide personal information.
Be especially skeptical of a page that says you must “verify” your account by logging in again, completing surveys, installing an extension, or sending a code to receive the reward.

Fake messages may claim that your account will be deleted, suspended, exposed, or locked unless you click immediately. Others pretend to be warnings about a suspicious login or offer a reward that expires within minutes.
Urgency is designed to stop you from checking the destination. Close the message and verify the claim by opening Roblox independently. Do not use a phone number, email address, or button supplied by the suspicious message to “fix” the problem.

3. It asks for credentials outside Roblox
Leave an experience or webpage immediately if it asks for your Roblox password, browser cookie, 2-Step Verification code, backup code, or another login secret. Roblox says that employees will not ask for these credentials, and a Roblox experience should not request them through an in-experience form.
A page that imitates the Roblox login screen is still phishing if it is hosted on the wrong domain. A familiar logo, color scheme, or username does not make the page genuine.
4. It is shortened or unexpectedly redirected
Shortened links hide the final destination. A link from a trusted person can also redirect through several websites before reaching its endpoint. That does not automatically make every short link malicious, but it makes independent verification harder.
If the source is unexpected, do not try to reveal the destination by following redirects. Open Roblox yourself instead. This is safer than trusting a link simply because it came from a friend or appeared in a familiar group.
5. It asks you to download something
Be suspicious of links offering an “executor,” exploit, cheat, verification tool, modified Roblox client, browser extension, or security component. Such downloads can contain malware, spyware, or keyloggers that steal passwords and other information.

6. It involves an unofficial trade or sale
Links for private Robux sales, off-platform item trades, account purchases, or promises to recover an inventory item are risky. Roblox does not support or guarantee unofficial trades and purchases outside its official systems. If the deal goes wrong, you may lose both money and items, and recovery may not be possible.
7. It came from a friend
A friend’s account may have been compromised, or the friend may not realize that the link is malicious. The sender’s identity is not proof that the destination is safe. Verify unusual messages through a separate channel or, better, avoid the link and navigate to Roblox independently.
What a genuinely safer Roblox link looks like
The safest link is often the one you do not use. Open the official Roblox website or app directly and locate the relevant content from there.
A link can be legitimate without being a Roblox URL—for example, an expected link to a community page or a creator’s social profile—but it should be something you were expecting, should lead to a domain you can independently verify, and should never request Roblox credentials. For login, account recovery, payment, and security settings, use Roblox’s official website or official app.

If you already clicked the link
You opened it but entered nothing
- Close the tab or app.
- Do not return to the page or interact with pop-ups.
- Delete the message or report it.
- Check your downloads and browser extensions if the page attempted to download anything.
If you did not enter information, download a file, or install an extension, the immediate risk is lower. Still, do not assume the page was harmless merely because nothing obvious happened.
You downloaded a file or installed an extension
- Disconnect from the internet temporarily if you suspect an active infection.
- Remove the suspicious download and uninstall unfamiliar browser extensions or applications.
- Run a full malware scan with your security software, not just a quick scan.
- Restart the device before changing important passwords if malware or a keylogger may be present.
- Use a different, trusted device to secure your Roblox account if possible.
Windows users who downloaded a file, installed an extension, or suspect a keylogger can also consider a dedicated Windows malware scan, such as Outbyte AVarmor. It is a supplementary security option for checking malware, spyware, keyloggers, suspicious software, and related threats; it does not replace changing your credentials, reporting the scam, or using Roblox’s security controls.
You entered your Roblox password or security code
- Go to Roblox by typing
roblox.comyourself or by opening the official app. - Change your Roblox password immediately.
- Change the password anywhere else you reused it. Password reuse can expose email, gaming, social, and financial accounts.
- Enable 2-Step Verification or a passkey.
- Review active sessions, account email information, security settings, and any unfamiliar changes.
- Contact Roblox Support promptly if you cannot sign in or notice missing Robux, items, or other account changes.
Do not give a suspected helper your new password, cookie, or 2-Step Verification code. Roblox warns that account recovery is not guaranteed. For certain lost inventory or currency situations, its guidance says contacting support within 30 days of the compromise may matter, so do not delay.
You entered payment or personal information
Contact the bank, card issuer, payment service, or other affected organization using an independently verified website or phone number. Do not use contact details supplied by the suspicious page. Consider asking the provider whether the payment can be stopped, the card should be replaced, or additional monitoring is appropriate.

Report the specific content through Roblox’s Report Abuse tools. Depending on where you encountered it, report the particular message, chat, experience, item, or user and explain what the link asked you to do. A bare profile report may not show moderators the relevant content.
For phishing outside Roblox, you can also report the incident to the appropriate national reporting service. In the United States, the FTC accepts phishing reports; suspicious emails can be forwarded to the Anti-Phishing Working Group, and suspicious text messages can be forwarded to 7726 (SPAM). Preserve the message or screenshots if they help identify the account and link, but do not click the link again while collecting evidence.

Make your Roblox account harder to steal
- Use a unique, strong Roblox password.
- Keep a verified email address and recovery method on the account.
- Enable Roblox 2-Step Verification and store backup codes securely.
- Use a passkey where supported.
- Consider Roblox-supported phishing-resistant authentication, such as a FIDO2 security key. Roblox documentation names YubiKey 5 and Google Titan Security Key as examples, but compatibility depends on the device, browser, and account setup.
- Never share browser cookies, passwords, backup codes, or 2-Step Verification codes.
- Keep your operating system, browser, Roblox app, and security software updated.
A passkey or hardware security key can make fraudulent login pages much less useful because the authentication is tied to the legitimate site or device. It does not identify every fake link, prevent malware, or protect an account if you voluntarily disclose information or install a malicious program.
For accounts that need phishing-resistant protection beyond Roblox, a reputable password manager or passkey provider may also be worth considering—but Roblox’s own passkeys, 2-Step Verification, recovery options, and supported security keys should be configured first.
A simple decision rule
Stop if the link is unexpected, the domain is not clearly official, the offer is unusually generous, the message is urgent, or the page asks for a secret. You do not need to prove that a suspicious link is malicious before ignoring it. Open Roblox independently, verify the claim from inside the official environment, and report the original content.
