Finji has announced Xbox Series and Microsoft Store PC editions for January 20, 2027, but the announcement does not promise cross-save, Xbox Play Anywhere, cross-buy, or any other save-roaming feature. Until Finji or the live Microsoft/Xbox product listing explicitly confirms one of those systems, assume an Xbox save will not automatically appear in a Windows installation.
The Steam edition is a separate case: its store listing includes Steam Cloud, which can synchronize saves between computers running the Steam version. Steam Cloud is not evidence that an Xbox console can read those files, nor that a Microsoft Store PC build will use them.

What you can and cannot do right now
For the versions documented so far, the practical answer is to keep each platform’s save in its own ecosystem. An Xbox Series X|S save should be treated as an Xbox save, while a Steam save should be treated as a Steam save. No published procedure describes moving an Xbox save to Windows or moving a PC save back to Xbox for Usual June.

The safe position before launch is “unconfirmed,” not “yes” and not “impossible.” Do not delete an existing save, reset your console, or buy transfer hardware on the assumption that the feature exists.

Why the Windows version is not automatically one version
“PC” describes hardware, not a single storefront or save system. Usual June is expected to have a Steam edition and a Microsoft Store edition, and those editions may use different entitlements, installation services, account links, and save locations. Two installations can run on the same Windows computer without being able to read each other’s saves.
The Xbox console build is another platform target. An Xbox save can be synchronized through Microsoft’s console services when a game supports the relevant integration, but the existence of Xbox cloud storage alone does not prove that a particular game exposes the save to a Windows build. The game’s developer or a live product listing must identify the supported relationship.
Steam versus Microsoft Store
Steam Cloud belongs to the Steam edition. It normally synchronizes the files that the Steam build marks for cloud storage among compatible Steam installations using the same account. That statement does not establish any of the following:

- That an Xbox console can upload a save into Steam Cloud.
- That the Microsoft Store PC build can import a Steam Cloud file.
- That buying the game on one storefront grants the other storefront’s entitlement.
- That the two PC editions use identical save formats or directories.
Until an official listing says otherwise, keep Steam and Microsoft Store saves separate. Installing both editions and looking for a common folder is not a supported transfer method and can create confusion about which executable is writing the latest progress.
What “cross-save,” “cross-buy,” and “Play Anywhere” would mean
These labels answer different questions. A listing can provide one without providing the others, so read the wording rather than inferring a complete package from a platform logo.

An Xbox announcement that merely names Xbox Series and Microsoft Store PC versions confirms platform availability, not interoperability. Likewise, a Steam Cloud badge confirms a Steam feature, not Xbox compatibility.
How to verify support when the Xbox and PC editions launch
Because the announced launch is in the future, the live store pages and Finji’s support information are the decisive sources. Use the following checks instead of relying on retailer descriptions, forum guesses, or an assumption based on another game.
1. Read the live Xbox product page
- Open the official Xbox or Microsoft Store listing for Usual June after the Xbox edition is available.
- Look for an explicit Xbox Play Anywhere badge or wording that names both Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
- Search the features, description, and “Capabilities” area for “cross-save,” “cross-progression,” “cloud saves,” or “Play Anywhere.”
- Check whether the wording says which account must be used and whether the feature applies to the Microsoft Store PC version only.
- Save a screenshot or note the exact wording and date. Store metadata can be revised, and a generic “cloud enabled” label is not the same as cross-platform save support.
2. Check the Microsoft Store PC listing separately
- Confirm that the listing is the Windows PC edition published for the Microsoft Store, not a link to the Steam release.
- Read the purchase and entitlement text. A shared license should be stated rather than inferred from the fact that both versions are sold by Microsoft.
- Check the capabilities or platform section for Play Anywhere and cross-save language.
- After installing, sign in with the same Microsoft account used on the Xbox console if the listing requires account-based synchronization.
- Start with a small, disposable test: create a new game or reach a clearly identifiable checkpoint, exit normally, and see whether the other platform offers that save. Do not overwrite your established progress while testing.
If the listing does not name save roaming, treat the feature as unconfirmed even if both versions appear under one account. A shared account is a prerequisite for some services, not proof that the game implements shared saves.
3. Confirm the Steam scope
- Open the Steam library page for the edition you own and verify that Steam Cloud is listed among its features.
- Enable Steam Cloud in the Steam settings if it is disabled, then allow the game to finish syncing before closing Steam.
- On a second computer, sign in to the same Steam account, install the same Steam edition, and wait for the cloud status to complete before launching.
- If the game presents a cloud-conflict dialog, compare the timestamps and choose the copy that contains the progress you intend to keep. Do not select a newer timestamp solely because it is newer; a recently created empty save can be the wrong copy.
These steps test Steam-to-Steam synchronization only. They do not test Xbox-to-Steam or Xbox-to-Microsoft Store transfer.
4. Check Finji’s support information
Finji is the developer and publisher identified for the game. Look for a support article, launch FAQ, or update that explicitly lists supported save paths. The useful wording will identify the platforms, the required account, and whether progression is automatic or requires an in-game sign-in. A statement about “cloud saves” without platform names is insufficient to establish Xbox/PC roaming.

What to do with an existing Xbox save
Until an official method is documented, protect the save you already have rather than attempting an extraction. Keep the console connected to the internet, use the same Xbox profile that created the progress, and allow the game to close normally so the console can complete its ordinary synchronization. These actions preserve the Xbox copy; they do not create a PC-readable export.

- Do not uninstall the game as a troubleshooting step unless you understand how the console handles its local and synchronized data.
- Do not choose an option that deletes local or cloud data merely to force a resync.
- Do not sign into a different profile and expect that profile to inherit the original save.
- Record the game version and the date of your last successful session if you later contact Finji support.
If cross-save is announced later, follow the published account-linking procedure from a clean starting point. Do not combine an old local file with a newly created cloud profile unless the instructions specifically tell you how conflict resolution works.
What to do with a Steam save
Steam Cloud is useful when both computers are running the Steam edition. Before changing machines, launch the game, exit through its normal menu, and wait for Steam to report that synchronization has completed. On the destination computer, install the same edition and allow the first cloud download to finish before opening the game.
If a save appears missing, first verify that you are using the same Steam account and the same game edition. A Microsoft Store installation and a Steam installation can have separate entitlements even when both are on Windows. Avoid copying files between their folders: the available data contains no supported procedure for doing so, and a manually copied file could be incompatible or overwrite the only working save.
Handling a Steam Cloud conflict
- Stop and read both timestamps and device names in the conflict dialog.
- Choose the copy that contains the intended progress, not automatically the newest timestamp.
- After the choice, launch the game once, verify the expected save in-game, and exit normally so the selected copy becomes the synchronized version.
- If neither copy is correct, do not keep switching choices repeatedly. Preserve the conflict state and contact Steam support or the game publisher with the timestamps and account information.
Common assumptions that do not establish a transfer
“Both versions run on Windows, so they share saves”
Operating-system compatibility does not make storefront builds interchangeable. The Steam and Microsoft Store editions may use different services and file handling. Only an explicit statement from Finji or the live listing can establish compatibility.

“The Xbox version is listed, so it must be Play Anywhere”
The Gematsu announcement reports Xbox Series and Microsoft Store PC versions launching January 20, 2027, but does not state Xbox Play Anywhere or cross-buy. Platform availability and Play Anywhere are separate claims.
“Steam Cloud is a universal backup”
Steam Cloud synchronizes the files assigned to the Steam edition. It is not a general-purpose bridge to Xbox storage or to every Windows storefront.
“A USB drive or cable can move the save”
No supported Xbox-to-PC file-copy workflow has been documented for this game. Console saves are managed by the platform, and a cable, external drive, or generic transfer utility cannot be treated as a solution without official instructions. Avoid guides that ask you to modify protected console data or promise a guaranteed import.
“A retailer page confirms cross-save”
Retailer copy can lag behind a publisher’s final feature list. For this title, verify the live Microsoft/Xbox listing and Finji’s own support information, and look for the exact platforms covered.

If your progress does not appear after an official feature is announced
Once a confirmed cross-save system exists, troubleshoot in a controlled order. First, verify that both devices use the account named by the feature documentation. Next, confirm that the Xbox and Microsoft Store PC editions are fully updated and that the game was closed normally on the source device. Then launch the destination edition while connected to the internet and wait for any account or cloud synchronization prompt.

- Check the product edition and platform. A Steam installation is not the same test as a Microsoft Store installation.
- Check the account. Use the exact Xbox/Microsoft identity specified by the game’s instructions; do not substitute a second profile.
- Check synchronization status. Wait for the source device to finish uploading before opening the destination.
- Check timestamps. A destination device may show an older save if it was opened offline.
- Stop before deleting anything. If the destination offers to replace a cloud save with a local one, cancel until you know which copy is authoritative.
- Capture the error message, platform, edition, game version, account type, and last known save time before contacting Finji support.
These checks apply only after an official feature and procedure are published. They should not be read as evidence that the feature currently exists.
Release timing and why the answer may change
Finji’s official game page identifies Windows and Mac as platforms, while the later announcement reported by Gematsu adds Xbox Series and Microsoft Store PC editions for January 20, 2027 alongside the previously announced Steam version. That sequence means the Xbox/Microsoft Store metadata is not yet a settled reference point for save behavior.
At launch, the most important details will be the final capabilities shown on the Microsoft/Xbox listing and any support article from Finji. Check those sources again after release rather than relying on a pre-launch store description, an old screenshot, or a forum post copied from another platform.
