Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo stop unapproved game-currency and other digital purchases, use the platform’s built-in account controls: PlayStation requires a password at checkout for adult accounts and uses a zero monthly spending limit for child accounts; Xbox requires a passkey before a purchase; and Nintendo uses Family Group Spending Restrictions for supervised accounts, including an option to disable automatic renewal.
These controls are free and are managed in account or family settings. The important differences are whether a setting blocks spending or only asks for credentials, whether it applies to a child account, and whether it covers wallet funding, automatic renewal, or purchases made in a phone or tablet app.

What each platform control does
“Turn off in-game purchases” can mean two different things. A credential gate leaves purchasing available but requires the account password or passkey at the moment of purchase. A spending restriction prevents a supervised account from making the purchase within the covered store. Selecting the wrong type of control can leave a gap—for example, a PlayStation adult checkout password does not govern wallet funding, while Nintendo’s console and website restriction does not automatically govern purchases inside a smart-device app.
| Platform | Main control | Child or supervised account | Wallet, renewal, or app coverage | Scope described by the platform |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation | Require Password at Checkout | Family Management monthly spending limit; the default is 0 | The adult checkout password does not apply when funding the wallet | Applies to all devices used to access PlayStation Store; the setting does not apply to child accounts |
| Xbox | Passkey required before a purchase | A separate child spending limit is not stated in the documented purchase path | Wallet-funding and automatic-renewal coverage are not stated in the documented setting | The documented control is an Xbox console sign-in, security, and passkey setting |
| Nintendo | Family Group Spending Restrictions | Parent or guardian controls a supervised account | Can disable Nintendo eShop purchases and automatic renewal; smart-device app purchases use the device’s own controls | Restrictions cover Nintendo eShop and off-device purchases on the official Nintendo website for the supervised account |
PlayStation: require a password or set a child’s limit to zero
Adult account: turn on Require Password at Checkout
For an adult PlayStation account, the relevant control is Require Password at Checkout. When it is enabled, PlayStation displays a password screen whenever a purchase is made and asks for the password used to sign in. This is a credential check, not a complete spending block: someone who knows the sign-in password can still authorize the transaction.

- Turn on Require Password at Checkout.
PlayStation states that this setting applies to all devices used to access PlayStation Store. You do not need to repeat the setting separately on every console or app that uses the same account.

Child account: use Family Management instead
The adult checkout setting does not apply to child accounts. For a child account, the family manager controls spending through Monthly Spending Limit. PlayStation says this limit is set to 0 by default, which prevents the child account from having an allowed monthly spend until the family manager changes it.
- Sign in to PlayStation Account Management.
- Open Family Management.
- Select the child account.
- Edit Monthly Spending Limit.
- Leave the amount at 0 when the goal is to allow no spending, then save the change.
On PS5, the equivalent console path is Settings > Family and Parental Controls > Family Management > child > Parental Controls > Monthly Spending Limit. The family manager, rather than the child account, controls this amount.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsImportant PlayStation limitation: wallet funding
Require Password at Checkout does not apply when funding the PlayStation wallet. If wallet funding is the concern, treat the checkout-password setting as only one layer of protection: it protects purchases presented at checkout, while the wallet-funding action is explicitly outside its coverage. The child-account spending-limit control is the appropriate family-management setting for a child account.

How to verify PlayStation
- On an adult account, confirm that Require Password at Checkout is visibly enabled in the account or console purchase settings.
- On a child account, open the child’s Family Management profile and confirm that Monthly Spending Limit is 0 if no spending is intended.
- Check the account type before troubleshooting: a password setting that appears correct for an adult account will not change a child account’s behavior.
Xbox: require the account passkey before purchases
Set the purchase requirement on the console
Xbox’s documented purchase control makes the console ask for the account passkey before a purchase. Follow this exact sequence:
- Press the Xbox button on the controller.
- Choose System.
- Open Settings.
- Select Account.
- Choose Sign-in, security & passkey.
- Select Change my sign-in & security preferences.
- Choose Customize.
- Select Ask for my passkey to make purchases.
- Set it to Passkey required.
After this change, the console requests the account passkey before completing a purchase. The setting therefore functions as an approval checkpoint: it stops someone who cannot provide the passkey, but it does not remove the store’s purchase capability for the account holder.
What the Xbox guidance does and does not establish
The documented path is a console setting under sign-in, security, and passkey. It does not describe a zero-spending child limit, wallet-funding rule, or automatic-renewal switch. If your goal is specifically to prevent a supervised child account from spending rather than to require an adult credential, verify which family-account controls are available in your Xbox account separately; the passkey procedure itself is the purchase-credential control.

Nintendo: restrict purchases through Family Group
Set a supervised-account spending restriction
On Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, purchase restrictions are administered from the parent or guardian’s Nintendo Account. The account must be the organizer or parent/guardian managing the family group.

- Sign in to the parent or guardian Nintendo Account.
- Select Family Group.
- Choose the supervised account.
- Open Spending Restrictions.
- Tick the option to disable purchases and automatic-renewal options on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and the official Nintendo website.
- Save the change.
This is a spending restriction for the supervised account, rather than a request for the child to enter an adult credential at every checkout. It also includes automatic renewal in the restriction, which matters for subscriptions or other recurring eShop charges covered by that setting.
Age-based restrictions
Nintendo also provides age-based purchase restrictions. Use those when the family rule depends on the supervised account’s age rather than a simple all-purchases-off decision. The parent or guardian still manages the restriction from the Nintendo Account’s Family Group area.
Which Nintendo purchases are covered
Nintendo states that eShop and off-device purchases for child and supervised accounts can be restricted through the parent or guardian Nintendo Account. The documented restriction therefore reaches beyond the console itself to purchases made through the official Nintendo website for that supervised account.

Purchases made inside smart-device apps are separate from Nintendo Account eShop restrictions. A Nintendo Family Group restriction alone is not the complete control for those app transactions.

How to verify Nintendo
- Sign in as the parent or guardian, not the supervised account.
- Open Family Group, select the correct supervised account, and check Spending Restrictions.
- Confirm that the purchase and automatic-renewal restriction is selected and saved.
- If the purchase occurs in a smart-device app, inspect the phone or tablet’s purchase controls in addition to Nintendo’s family setting.
Choose the setting that matches your goal
You want an adult to approve every PlayStation purchase
Use PlayStation’s Require Password at Checkout on the adult account. It is account-wide across devices used to access PlayStation Store, but remember that wallet funding is outside this setting.
You want a PlayStation child account to spend nothing
Use Family Management and keep Monthly Spending Limit at 0. Do not rely on the adult checkout-password option, because PlayStation excludes child accounts from that setting.
You want the Xbox console to stop unattended purchases
Set Ask for my passkey to make purchases to Passkey required. This creates a credential checkpoint before the transaction is completed.
You want to block a supervised Nintendo account and stop renewals
From the parent or guardian Nintendo Account, open the supervised account’s Spending Restrictions, disable purchases and automatic renewal, and save. This covers Nintendo eShop and the official Nintendo website for that supervised account.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
You want to stop purchases inside a phone or tablet game
Use the phone or tablet’s own purchase controls. Nintendo identifies smart-device app purchases as separate from Nintendo Account restrictions, so changing the console or website setting alone does not address that transaction path.
Troubleshooting common failures
The PlayStation password prompt never appears
First check whether the account is a child account. The adult Require Password at Checkout setting does not apply there; use Family Management and set the child’s Monthly Spending Limit to 0. If it is an adult account, confirm the setting under the correct PlayStation Account Management, PS5, PS4, or PlayStation App path.
A PlayStation wallet can still be funded
This is expected when only the adult checkout-password setting is enabled. PlayStation explicitly excludes wallet funding from that setting. Use the child-account spending limit where applicable, and treat wallet funding as a separate transaction that requires its own account-management decision.
An Xbox purchase still asks for no credential
Recheck every level of the Xbox path: System > Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & passkey > Change my sign-in & security preferences > Customize > Ask for my passkey to make purchases > Passkey required. A different sign-in preference does not substitute for the purchase-specific passkey choice.
Nintendo eShop purchases are restricted but a phone app purchase succeeds
Nintendo treats smart-device app purchases separately. Keep the Family Group restriction for eShop and website purchases, then configure purchase controls on the phone or tablet where the app transaction takes place.
Automatic charges continue on Nintendo
Open the supervised account’s Spending Restrictions and confirm that the option disabling purchases and automatic renewal is selected and saved. Nintendo includes automatic renewal in that restriction, so an unsaved or incomplete change can leave the renewal option enabled.
Practical household checklist
- Identify the account type: adult, child, or supervised.
- Identify where the purchase happens: console store, official website, wallet-funding screen, or smart-device app.
- Choose a blocking control when available: PlayStation’s child spending limit or Nintendo’s supervised-account spending restriction.
- Choose a credential gate when the platform’s documented control is a password or passkey requirement: PlayStation adult checkout or Xbox purchases.
- Save the setting from the parent, family-manager, or account-holder profile that controls it.
- Reopen the same menu and verify the saved state before handing the device back to the child.
- Keep the password or passkey private; a credential gate cannot prevent a purchase if the required credential is shared.
- For Nintendo smart-device apps, repeat the review in the device’s own purchase settings.
Key takeaways
PlayStation has two distinct solutions: adult accounts use Require Password at Checkout, while child accounts use Family Management’s Monthly Spending Limit, which is 0 by default. Xbox uses Passkey required under the console’s sign-in, security, and passkey settings. Nintendo’s parent or guardian account controls a supervised account through Spending Restrictions, including an option to disable automatic renewal; purchases inside smart-device apps remain under the device’s controls.
