Unlock Dragon’s Breath in Kaifeng
The request is in Kaifeng, the region reached after Qinghe’s main story, rather than in the starting region. Follow these steps in order:
- Reach Kaifeng. Progress through the main story until Kaifeng is available.
- Start the request. Go to the Fairgrounds’ Beast Reverie area and speak with Kongkong and Luo Jiu. Continue their conversation until Luo Jiu asks for Travelogue: Toehari.
- Find the document. Travel to the Main South Gate Boundary Stone and look west for Liang Yuan. Use Celestial Seize on the requested Travelogue. If Liang Yuan is not there, check again during daytime.
- Return to Luo Jiu. Speak with him and complete the hand-in dialogue. If the hand-in option does not appear, check your bag to confirm you took Travelogue: Toehari, not another item.
- Claim the reward. Open Journal → Wandering Tales and claim the completed entry. Finishing the conversation does not by itself complete the unlock.
- Equip the skill. Open Develop → Mystic Skills and assign Dragon’s Breath to a usable slot.

How Dragon’s Breath works
Dragon’s Breath is a forward-facing fire attack that applies Ignition. Face the target and use the skill when the attack can connect. Current damage figures are not established by the available skill walkthrough, so check the description and results in your own game version rather than relying on older numerical guides.

Dragon’s Breath and Drunken Poet combos
Dragon’s Breath and Drunken Poet are separate skills. Drunken Poet is not required to unlock Dragon’s Breath; its interaction with Dragon’s Breath is an optional combat sequence.
Base Combustion interaction
For the base interaction, Drunken Poet must reach its Drunken Haze breakthrough. Apply that effect to a target, then hit the same target with Dragon’s Breath to ignite it. Equipping both skills alone does not trigger the sequence.

Optional Dark Scorch branch
The Dark Scorch branch replaces Combustion. For its follow-up, apply your own Dark Scorch to the target before using Tier 3 Drunken Poet. The required effect and order differ from the base interaction; the available guide does not establish one branch as stronger.
If the unlock or combo does not work
- Liang Yuan is missing: Check the street west of the Main South Gate Boundary Stone, and try again during daytime.
- Luo Jiu will not accept the item: Verify that your bag contains Travelogue: Toehari.
- The tale seems complete, but the skill is locked: Claim the completed Wandering Tales entry in the Journal, then look under Develop → Mystic Skills.
- The attack hits, but the combo does not trigger: Confirm Drunken Poet has the required tier and branch, and that the same target has the effect required for that sequence.
What to know about current skill details
The quest steps and skill interaction above are documented by an independent handbook that was updated September 28, 2026; it states that its balance version is unverified. Dexerto’s older guide can help cross-check the quest route, but its damage and cooldown figures are version-sensitive. For that reason, this guide does not present those numbers as current. The game’s publisher describes Mystic Arts broadly as tools for combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving in its August 20, 2025 announcement.
