Cosmic Exploration areas and their associated quests can only be accessed from your Home World. The restriction is stated in the official Patch 7.21 Notes. If you are visiting another World, return to your Home World before trying to enter an exploration area or continue its quests.
What you do after unlocking
Cosmic Exploration is a cooperative development feature for crafting and gathering classes. Use the exotablet to take stellar missions, make or gather the requested materials, and contribute to a development gauge. Mission completion advances progress and can unlock more advanced mission types; large-scale projects may occur at milestones. Stellar missions are quest synced, so their difficulty and rewards adjust to your current level, according to the official Cosmic Exploration guide.

How to unlock later destinations
Sinus Ardorum is the first destination. Later stars require further quest progress, and Oizys also requires a certain amount of project progress; the official destination guide does not specify that threshold.
| Destination | Requirement | Quest giver or location |
|---|---|---|
| Phaenna | Complete Passion, Thy Name Is Ardorum, then accept Go Forth, Brave Explorers. | Searchingway on Sinus Ardorum, X:20.4, Y:20.0. |
| Oizys | Complete The Brightest Star, then take Mission of Gravity on Phaenna. Access to Oizys also requires that quest and a certain amount of project progress. | Mission of Gravity becomes available on Phaenna. |
| Auxesia | Complete Memory’s Orbit, then take The Forests of Paradise. | The Forests of Paradise becomes available on Oizys. |
These destination quests extend the feature; they are not prerequisites for starting A Cosmic Homecoming. The official Cosmic Exploration guide lists the destination quest progression.
