This guide covers Super Mario Odyssey, the likely game intended by the otherwise-unspecified title. To get outfits, visit Crazy Cap shops and buy available items with gold coins or kingdom-specific Regional Coins. You can also use certain amiibo for optional outfit unlocks and bonuses, but Nintendo confirms that every outfit can be unlocked in-game without amiibo.
Where to get outfits in Super Mario Odyssey
Visit a Crazy Cap shop in a kingdom to see its available outfits and souvenirs. Shop inventory and prices vary by item: some purchases use regular gold coins, while others require Regional Coins found in particular kingdoms. Collect both kinds as you explore, then check the shop for items you want.

Outfits are not all purely cosmetic. Nintendo notes that some have no special powers, while certain outfits may help Mario enter special places. If an area appears to require a particular look, check the outfit options available in Crazy Cap rather than assuming every costume is only for appearance.

No. Nintendo’s official Super Mario Odyssey amiibo page states: “Note: All outfits can be unlocked in-game without amiibo.” Amiibo are an optional route, not a requirement for outfit completion.

How to use amiibo for outfit unlocks
- Beat the kingdom you are in.
- Speak to Uncle amiibo.
- When prompted, scan an amiibo figure or card.
This is the flow described by Nintendo Support’s Super Mario Odyssey amiibo instructions. Nintendo specifically identifies the Mario, Peach, and Bowser wedding amiibo as outfit unlock options, each with a corresponding gameplay bonus.

Nintendo confirms the Mario wedding amiibo’s Tuxedo and temporary invincibility on its Mario Wedding Outfit amiibo page. The wedding figures are optional: use Crazy Cap and in-game progress if you do not have them.

Choosing a route
- Use Crazy Cap for in-game collection: earn or collect the relevant coins while exploring, then buy shop items available in each kingdom.
- Use amiibo for an extra option: scan a supported figure or card through Uncle amiibo after beating a kingdom. Wedding amiibo can unlock matching outfits and provide their listed bonuses.
- Combine both: amiibo use does not replace the in-game route; Nintendo says all outfits remain obtainable without amiibo.
What to expect from this guide
Super Mario Odyssey is a Nintendo Switch game released on October 27, 2017. Its Power Moons power the Odyssey airship and help Mario reach new destinations, making kingdom exploration central to progression. The official pages establish the shop and amiibo routes, but do not provide a complete outfit-by-outfit checklist of unlock thresholds; check the shops as you progress rather than relying on an unverified total or a universal price.
