Inside the memory, gather light orbs to open the palace route and defeat the Clover Dancers to earn the Conjoined Heart.
1. Free the Green Prince in Sinner’s Road
Find the Green Prince imprisoned in Sinner’s Road and use a Simple Key to open his cell. The key is an in-game item.

After freeing him, keep exploring and speaking with him as his quest advances. Nintendo Life and GameSpot describe further meetings in the Citadel: one in the Choral Chambers near the Citadel Spa, and another near the Cogwork Dancers arena.
2. Advance his Citadel appearances
The Green Prince’s later appearance is tied to progression, so reaching Act 3 does not necessarily make him appear immediately. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s Green Prince entry says you must have seen him in the earlier room and either visited Songclave or started Act 3; the Cogwork Dancers must also be defeated.

If he is not at the arena-side location, continue the relevant progression and revisit. Speak with him whenever you find him to move the quest forward.
3. Find Verdania in Act 3
Once Act 3 is active and the quest has advanced, head to eastern Greymoor near Craw Lake. Look for the newly open passage on the eastern side leading into the ruins. The Green Prince waits there beside the remains of a Cogwork Dancer, mourning his partner. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s Verdania entry also identifies the area as an Act 3 location.

4. Enter Lost Verdania
Speak with the Green Prince in the ruins, then use the Needolin to play Elegy of the Deep beside him. This takes Hornet into Lost Verdania, a memory of the kingdom in its prime. The song is the trigger; simply reaching the ruins does not enter the memory.

5. Collect light orbs to open the palace
Explore the memory and activate its light-orb sequences. Orbs can be found through breakable objects, flowers, shrines, altars, and a miniboss encounter. Gathering them opens the route to the palace.

The Hollow Knight Wiki reports that at least 12 memory orbs activate the palace entrance. Nintendo Life and GameSpot describe the orb-gathering objective but do not specify that threshold, so treat 12 as a wiki-reported requirement rather than a count confirmed across all three guides.

The palace fight is against the Clover Dancers, an altered version of the Cogwork Dancers encounter. Nintendo Life describes a two-phase fight in which the Green Prince is the target; during the embrace attack, cyclones rotate around the room. After the fight, Hornet returns to the ruins and receives the Conjoined Heart.

You can use the Conjoined Heart toward Old Hearts or keep it as a memento. That choice comes after completing the memory encounter.
