Let the Store finish installing Minecraft’s update, then launch Minecraft for Windows.
Update Minecraft for Windows through Microsoft Store

Open Start, search for Microsoft Store, and open the app. Microsoft recommends using Start search if Store is not pinned. Microsoft’s Store update instructions explain how to find and check for app updates.

Select Library, then choose Get updates or Get Updated. Minecraft’s Windows instructions use the latter label; the wording can vary with the Store interface. Find Minecraft in the update list and let the Store download and install it. Minecraft’s update guide describes this route for Minecraft for Windows.

When the Store is finished, launch Minecraft for Windows. Microsoft Store may also install app updates automatically; the Library check lets you look for them manually. Microsoft’s guidance covers automatic and manual Store updates.

Confirm you have the Bedrock edition and the right account
Minecraft for Windows is the Windows PC version of Bedrock Edition. The product page describes the Java & Bedrock bundle for Windows PC. Minecraft’s PC product page identifies the available PC editions.
If Store does not list Minecraft or shows that you need to buy it, check that you are signed in with the Microsoft account used to purchase the game. Minecraft Help says the Launcher’s Play or Install button indicates an owned version, while Buy Now means the signed-in account does not own it. The Microsoft Store product page can also show which editions that account owns. Minecraft’s account and Launcher guidance explains these ownership checks.

Do not confuse a Launcher update with a game update
The Minecraft Launcher and Minecraft for Windows are separate update targets. Minecraft says the Launcher should update when started; if it does not, update the Launcher through the Windows Store Library. That instruction concerns the Launcher and does not confirm that the Bedrock game itself has updated. To update the game, use the Store Library steps above. Minecraft’s download and Launcher page provides Launcher guidance, while Minecraft’s game update guide gives the Windows game route.
Do not use the Java Edition Launcher’s Latest Release selector as the Bedrock update method: Minecraft’s Windows-specific instructions direct Bedrock players to Microsoft Store.

If Minecraft’s update does not appear or install
Microsoft’s troubleshooting advice is general guidance for Store apps, not a guaranteed fix for a specific Minecraft error. Try it in this order:

Confirm you are signed in to Microsoft Store with the Microsoft account that owns the game.

Close Microsoft Store and reopen it, then check Library > Get updates again.

Check for Windows updates, and install any available updates.

Update Microsoft Store itself from Library > Get updates.

If the problem continues, use Windows’ repair or reset options for the app, or reinstall it as a later troubleshooting step. Microsoft’s app troubleshooting page describes these options; they are not Minecraft-specific diagnoses. Microsoft Store app troubleshooting.
