In EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team, upgrade eligible Player Items through Evolutions: choose an available Evolution, check its requirements and cost, assign a qualifying item, activate the Evolution, complete its challenges, and claim the rewards. EA says earned FC 24 Evolution upgrades are permanent. The steps below cover Ultimate Team; they do not describe player development in Career Mode.
How to upgrade a player in FC 24 Ultimate Team
- Open the Evolutions area. Go to Ultimate Team > Club > Evolutions, then look under Available Evolutions. EA’s current general guide describes this navigation, but it is not FC 24-specific; check the labels shown in your FC 24 game. EA’s Evolution guide.
- Choose an Evolution and read its requirements. Check every eligibility condition, the rewards, any gameplay objectives, availability window, and whether it costs anything before selecting a Player Item. - Assign an eligible Player Item. Confirm that the item meets all of the selected Evolution’s criteria, which may include rating, player category, position, or skill moves. Do not assume a card qualifies just because it appears to fit the general idea of the Evolution.
- Make the Evolution active. In My Evolutions, set the Evolution you intend to progress to Active. EA’s current guide describes this activation step; follow the labels and prompts in your FC 24 interface.
- Complete the displayed challenges and claim each reward. The FC 24 system uses objectives to unlock upgrade levels. Finish the challenges listed for a level, then claim its reward; where further levels are available, continue with their challenges.
Check what an Evolution changes before committing
An Evolution’s reward is specific to that Evolution. It may change overall rating or particular attributes, and FC 24 Evolutions could also affect skill moves, work rates, PlayStyles, alternative positions, weak foot, or the item’s visual design. Read the in-game reward preview rather than treating any example upgrade amount as a standard promise.

Challenges can call for match participation, scoring, or wins in particular Ultimate Team modes, including Ultimate Team Champions in EA’s FC 24 examples. Use the challenge text as the authority: objectives are not interchangeable across Evolutions.
Eligibility, cost, and timing vary by Evolution
- Eligibility: Each Evolution has its own requirements. EA’s FC 24 examples include restrictions involving rating, player category, position, and skill moves.
- Cost: EA said some FC 24 Evolutions were free, while others required Coins or Coins and Points. Check the selected Evolution’s displayed cost before enrolling.
- Availability: Some Evolutions could be time-limited or require enrollment within a particular period. If one is available only for a window, verify both the enrollment deadline and any challenge deadline in-game.
- Card commitment: EA’s current general guide warns that assigning an item to a standard Evolution slot makes it untradeable. That is not established here as an FC 24-specific rule, so check the confirmation screen in your FC 24 game before proceeding.
How FC 24 Evolution upgrades differ from FC 25
Do not apply FC 25 Evolution advice to FC 24 without checking which game it describes. EA later explained that FC 24 applied Evolution attribute boosts equally across eligible players, up to a maximum of 99; EA said this contributed to strict entry requirements.
