In MLB The Show 25, watch the Home Run Rob Meter and, according to player reports, press your fielder’s jump button when its arrow reaches the green area. That is community guidance, not an officially documented button sequence or guarantee of a catch: San Diego Studio’s manual lists fielding controls but does not explain the meter’s exact timing window or success formula.
What changed in MLB The Show 25?
The Home Run Rob Meter is one of the named gameplay updates on PlayStation’s official MLB The Show 25 page. PlayStation groups it with features including ambush hitting, infielder reaction times, G.O.A.T. difficulty, the Throw Accuracy Meter, and new player animations powered by ShowTech™.

The official listing establishes that the meter is a feature in MLB The Show 25; it does not give a detailed comparison with earlier games or establish that this mechanic is wholly new to the franchise.
How players report using the meter
- When a ball is hit toward the outfield wall and a home-run robbery opportunity appears, watch the meter’s arrow.
- A player post dated May 24, 2025 advises pressing the gamepad’s jump button when the arrow enters the green area. Treat that as a reported timing tip, not a verified instruction from the developer. The post is on The Show community forum.
- Use the platform’s documented fielding controls to identify the jump input for your console. The official manual provides separate controls-help sections for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S in its table of contents.
The manual’s Throwing and Fielding controls page lists jump and dive actions. It does not, in the material available there, give a platform-specific Home Run Rob Meter button sequence or timing window. Check the applicable console instructions rather than assuming the input is identical across platforms.

Why a robbery attempt can fail
Entering the green area and pressing jump is a timing cue described by a community player, not a published guarantee that the fielder will catch the ball. The official sources reviewed do not disclose the meter’s success formula, a success rate, or an attribute threshold. The forum post says the game evaluates defensive attributes, but that is the poster’s interpretation, not a confirmed developer explanation.
