To use your Xbox Fortnite progress on PS5, link the PlayStation Network account on your PS5 to the same Epic Games account that holds your Xbox progress. This links console access to one Epic account; it does not merge separate Fortnite profiles.
Before you change any account links
First identify which Epic Games account has the Fortnite progress you want. Some players have an Epic account created automatically when they first launched Fortnite on a console, so it may not use the email address they normally associate with Epic. Sign in to Epic using the Xbox sign-in option if needed, then check the account and its linked accounts. Epic explains how console progress can be associated with an account in its PlayStation progress sync guidance.

If your PSN account is already linked to a different Epic account, decide which account’s progress you want to keep using. Compare the accounts’ skins, level and progress, make sure you can sign in and access the relevant email, and check whether Fortnite Crew is active on the platform account you may remove. Epic does not offer a way to merge Fortnite progress from two Epic accounts.
Link your PS5 account to the Epic account with your Xbox progress
- Sign in to the correct Epic account in a browser. Use the Xbox sign-in option or the Epic email and password for the account holding the desired progress. If there is any chance the browser is signed into the wrong Epic account, sign out and use a private or incognito window.
- Open Linked accounts in Epic account settings. Review the connected console accounts before changing anything.
- Remove the wrong PlayStation link only if necessary. Confirm that it is the PSN account you intend to unlink. Epic warns that unlinking a console removes that console’s access to the Epic account’s progress and purchases.
- Clear a linking restriction if Epic requires it. If you previously linked a different account of the same platform type, Epic may require you to remove a restriction before linking another one. Epic’s current guidance allows restriction removal once every 365 days.
- Link the PSN account used on your PS5. Choose the PlayStation option under Linked accounts and follow Epic’s on-screen steps. Use the PSN account you actually use on the console.
- Launch Fortnite on PS5 and check the account. Confirm that the expected progress and content appear. If you also want to play on Xbox, keep the Xbox account linked to this same Epic account.
Epic’s instructions for changing a linked console account are in its console-account linking guide. Follow the prompts there if the available options differ from the steps above.

What transfers—and what does not
Fortnite progress belongs to the Epic Games account. Linking the PSN account to the Epic account already used on Xbox lets both linked consoles access that account’s progress and eligible content. Epic’s cross-platform guidance says purchases and progress are accessible across linked platforms, but specifically excludes V-Bucks from that general statement. Do not assume a V-Bucks balance will appear on PS5; see Epic’s platform purchase and progress guidance.
Linking is not a transfer or merge. If your Xbox and PSN accounts have been using different Epic accounts, choosing one account for both consoles does not combine their skins, progress or purchases. Epic says Fortnite progress from separate accounts cannot be merged. Its sync troubleshooting guidance explains what to check when the wrong account’s progress appears.

If PS5 starts Fortnite at level 1
A fresh-looking profile usually means the PSN account is accessing a different Epic account from the one holding your Xbox progress. Check Linked accounts while signed into Epic and confirm that the PSN account is connected to the intended Epic account. If it is not, use the account-linking steps above rather than continuing to play on an unintended account.

Epic says an unlinked console cannot access the progress and purchases on the Epic account it was removed from; launching Fortnite while the console is unlinked may create a new, empty account for it. Before unlinking an account
- Confirm the Epic account and console identity. Check which Epic account is active and which Xbox or PSN account is connected. A console linked to the wrong Epic account will show that account’s progress.
- Understand the access change. Progress and purchases remain on the Epic account, but the console you unlink will lose access to them until it is linked appropriately.
- Check Fortnite Crew. If the platform account being removed has an active Crew subscription and you want its future rewards, cancel the subscription on that platform first. Epic says those rewards stop once the platform account is unlinked.
- Check for a platform-link restriction. If Epic blocks the new PSN link because another PlayStation account was linked before, review its guidance for linking a different platform account. Restriction removal is limited to once every 365 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I merge my Xbox and PlayStation Fortnite accounts?
No. Epic says Fortnite progress from separate Epic Games accounts cannot be merged. Link both console accounts to the Epic account whose progress you want to use.
Will my V-Bucks transfer to PS5?
Epic’s general statement about purchases and progress across linked platforms excludes V-Bucks, so it does not establish that every V-Bucks balance will be available on PS5.
