The most reliable way to view a friend’s Steam wishlist is to open their Steam Community profile, choose Games, and then select Wishlist. On a phone, use Steam in a mobile browser if the app does not show those options.
View a friend’s wishlist on the Steam website
- Sign in to Steam.
- Open your friend’s full Steam Community profile.
- Select Games.
- Select Wishlist from the games navigation.
The wishlist is usually not a separate link on the profile homepage. If you opened the profile from chat, choose View Profile rather than relying on the smaller mini-profile preview.

Open a wishlist directly with SteamID64
If you know your friend’s 17-digit SteamID64, open this address in a browser:

https://store.steampowered.com/wishlist/profiles/76561198012345678/Replace the example number with your friend’s actual SteamID64. Steam describes the 17-digit number in a profile URL as the account’s 64-bit Steam ID in its official support documentation.

A custom profile name is not the same thing as a SteamID64. If you need the numeric ID, open the profile’s Edit Profile page. Steam’s support instructions explain how the account’s 64-bit ID can be revealed through the profile URL when a custom URL is removed.
View the wishlist in the Steam desktop client
- Open Steam.
- Select Friends & Chat in the lower-right corner.
- Find your friend and open their profile.
- Choose View Profile if Steam first opens a preview.
- Select Games, then Wishlist.
Steam confirms that Friends & Chat is the desktop client’s friends interface. The profile route to Games → Wishlist is also available through the Steam Community website.
View a friend’s wishlist on a phone or tablet
Use a mobile browser
Open your friend’s Steam profile in Safari, Chrome, or another mobile browser, then follow:
Friend’s profile → Games → Wishlist
If the mobile layout hides the profile navigation, use the browser’s View Desktop Website option. You can also open the direct wishlist URL with the friend’s SteamID64.
Using the Steam Mobile app
The Steam Mobile app provides access to friends and the Steam Community, but Valve’s current app documentation does not guarantee a dedicated route for opening another user’s wishlist. Depending on the platform and app version, you may see a path similar to:

Menu → You & Friends → Friends → friend’s profile → Games → Wishlist
If Games or Wishlist is missing, do not assume the wishlist is unavailable. Open Steam in a mobile browser instead. Valve’s current Steam Mobile listing documents friends, Steam Community access, store browsing, and wishlist-related notifications, but not a guaranteed friend-wishlist control.

The friend’s Game Details are private
Wishlist visibility generally follows the friend’s Game Details privacy setting. The relevant path is:
Profile → Edit Profile → Privacy Settings → Game Details
The available choices include Public, Friends Only, and Private. To let you view the wishlist through the normal profile route, your friend must allow you to see their game details—usually by choosing Friends Only or Public.
Inventory privacy is not the setting you need
Older instructions sometimes say that a friend must make their Inventory visible. That is not the relevant control for wishlist visibility. Inventory privacy covers tradable items and inventory contents; wishlist access is associated with Game Details. Steam explains the distinction in its privacy documentation.

A wishlist URL can load without showing games if the account has no wishlist items. A blank result therefore does not always mean that the profile is private.
You opened a mini-profile
The compact profile preview opened from chat may not contain the complete navigation. Open View Profile, then select Games and Wishlist from the full Steam Community profile.
Some games are delisted or unavailable
A wishlist may include games that are no longer available for purchase. Delisted or otherwise unavailable entries may display differently from ordinary store listings, so a partial-looking list does not necessarily indicate a loading problem.
Use a shared wishlist link
As of July 22, 2026, Steam supports share links for an entire wishlist, a custom category, or a filtered wishlist view. The owner creates the link with the Share button at the top of the wishlist.

A shared link can be viewed even if the owner’s normal wishlist is private. It exposes only the games included in the selected view, and the owner can revoke the link. This is the best option when your friend does not want to make their complete wishlist visible through their profile.
Steam’s July 22, 2026 wishlist and gifting update also introduced custom wishlist categories, improved search with autocomplete, demo highlighting and notifications, microtrailers on wishlist images, and more persistent navigation across the browser, mobile experience, Steam client, and SteamOS.

Yes. Steam’s July 22, 2026 gifting update allows a buyer to gift a game directly from someone’s shared wishlist. The recipient can be pre-populated in the cart, and the buyer does not necessarily need to be Steam friends with the recipient. Guest checkout and gifts sent to an email address are also supported in the updated flow.
- An email gift must be accepted within 30 days, or Steam automatically refunds it.
- Email gifts require the recipient to live in the same country as the purchaser.
- Some cross-region gifts still require the recipient to be on the purchaser’s Steam friends list, particularly where Steam adjusts the price for a higher-priced region.
These rules apply to gifts made through the supported shared-wishlist flow and do not make every Steam gifting situation friendship-free.
