Watch Demon Slayer in this order: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc (episodes 1–26), one version of Mugen Train, Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, Hashira Training Arc, then Infinity Castle Part 1. The anime’s release order and story chronology are effectively identical, so this sequence avoids flashbacks, duplicated recaps and misplaced previews.
The only decision is after season one: watch either the Mugen Train feature film or the seven-episode television arc. The television version retells the same canon journey with additional material, while the film is the more compact route. The two world-tour compilation films can be skipped when you watch the complete television arcs.

The complete Demon Slayer watch order
Use arc names rather than a platform’s season numbers. Services can divide the same material differently, but the franchise’s official chronology places the arcs in the sequence below.
| Order | Arc or film | Original release | Episodes or format | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc | 2019 | 26 TV episodes | Watch all episodes first. |
| 2A | Mugen Train feature film | 2020 | One film | Choose this or the TV arc, not both on a first viewing. |
| 2B | Mugen Train Arc television version | 2021 | 7 TV episodes | Alternative to the film; it includes extra material. |
| 3 | Entertainment District Arc | 2021–2022 | 11 TV episodes | Watch after either Mugen Train version. |
| 4 | Swordsmith Village Arc | 2023 | 11 TV episodes | Continue directly from Entertainment District. |
| 5 | Hashira Training Arc | 2024 | 8 TV episodes | Watch all eight before Infinity Castle. |
| 6 | Infinity Castle Part 1 | Opened in Japan on July 18, 2025 | Feature film; first part of a planned trilogy | Watch after Hashira Training. |
This chronology follows the official Japanese portal’s listing of the anime and the official U.S. portal’s arc navigation. The release years and episode counts are also reported by GamesRadar+ in 2026. The completed television material contains 63 episodes when the seven-episode Mugen Train Arc is counted: 26 + 7 + 11 + 11 + 8.
#1 Best Overall
- Tanjiro Kamado, joined with Inosuke Hashibira, a boy raised by boars who wears a boar's head, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, a scared boy who reveals his true power when he sleeps, board the Infinity Train on a new mission with the Fire Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku, to defeat a demon who has been tormenting the people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it!
Why release order and chronological order match
Demon Slayer’s television arcs and connecting film were released in the same order as the events they continue. Season one establishes the starting point; Mugen Train follows it; Entertainment District follows Mugen Train; Swordsmith Village follows Entertainment District; Hashira Training follows Swordsmith Village; and Infinity Castle begins after Hashira Training.
That means you do not need a separate chronological cut. A list that places the Mugen Train material before season one, or moves a later arc ahead of Entertainment District, is not a better timeline. It is simply out of sequence. Release order is the safest order for a first watch because it also preserves the intended introductions, recaps and escalating reveals.
Step-by-step first-watch route
- Start with Unwavering Resolve. Watch episodes 1 through 26 in order. Do not substitute a compilation screening for the complete season if you want the full television presentation.
- Choose one Mugen Train version. Select the feature film for a shorter viewing session, or select the seven-episode television arc for its additional opening material and episode structure.
- Watch Entertainment District. Begin its 11 episodes immediately after your chosen Mugen Train version.
- Watch Swordsmith Village. Continue with all 11 episodes. The compilation screening titled To the Swordsmith Village is not required when this arc is available in full.
- Watch Hashira Training. Complete all eight episodes. The compilation screening titled To the Hashira Training is optional if you already have the complete arc.
- Watch Infinity Castle Part 1. It is the canon continuation after Hashira Training and the opening film in the concluding trilogy.
Choosing between the Mugen Train film and TV arc
Both versions cover the same central canon installment. Your choice changes presentation and length, not the position of the story in the timeline.
| Option | Best for | What it provides | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feature film | Viewers who want the most compact route | A single cinema-style presentation of Mugen Train | It does not use the television arc’s additional episode material. |
| Seven-episode TV arc | Viewers who want more connective material | The same central story in seven episodes, including a new opening episode and other added material | It takes longer and repeats the core events if you have already watched the film. |
If this is your first viewing
Pick the TV arc if you prefer the fullest version and do not mind an episodic format. Pick the film if you want to move through the story in one sitting or are watching with people who prefer a movie. Neither choice breaks continuity.
If you have already watched one version
You can go directly to Entertainment District. Watching the other Mugen Train version is optional: it mainly revisits material you already know, with the television edition supplying extra scenes and a new opening episode. A second viewing can be worthwhile for completionists, but it is not a prerequisite for the next arc.
What not to do
Do not watch the film and then treat the seven-episode arc as a new sequel. The television arc is an alternate presentation of the same installment, not the next story chapter. If you watch both, place them consecutively between season one and Entertainment District and expect substantial overlap.
Can you skip the two world-tour compilation films?
Yes. To the Swordsmith Village and To the Hashira Training are optional theatrical compilations. They summarize earlier material and preview the next arc. When the complete Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training television arcs are available, adding the screenings creates overlap rather than filling a continuity gap.

- You want a cinema presentation before starting a new arc.
- You are introducing someone to the series and prefer a recap-plus-preview format.
- You want to revisit the previous arc without replaying every episode.
For a clean first watch, go from Entertainment District to the full Swordsmith Village Arc, then to the full Hashira Training Arc. Do not insert either compilation film between those television seasons.
What comes after Hashira Training?
Infinity Castle Part 1 comes next. It is not a recap or optional side story; it is the canon continuation after the eight-episode Hashira Training Arc. The film opened in Japan on July 18, 2025, and starts a planned concluding trilogy.
Because Infinity Castle is divided into films, it does not have a television episode count to add to the 63 completed TV episodes. Treat Part 1 as the next required installment and follow official release information for later parts rather than placing an un released film or an unofficially numbered season into your watch list.
Why Netflix may show five seasons
Netflix and other services do not always use the franchise’s arc names or the same season boundaries. GamesRadar+ reports that completed episodes are available on Crunchyroll and Netflix depending on region, and that Netflix may label the material as five seasons. Those numbers can look inconsistent because one platform may group an arc as a season while another presents it as a special, a film or a separate season.

Use the title of the arc and its episode count to identify the correct material:
- Unwavering Resolve: 26 episodes.
- Mugen Train: either one film or seven TV episodes.
- Entertainment District: 11 episodes.
- Swordsmith Village: 11 episodes.
- Hashira Training: 8 episodes.
If a service’s season number conflicts with this list, open the episode or film description and match the arc name. That approach is more reliable than assuming Season 2 or Season 3 means the same thing in every country.
Streaming, regional catalogs and physical copies
Availability changes by country and over time. The completed episodes are reported as available on Crunchyroll and Netflix in some regions, but neither service has an identical catalog everywhere. A title can be present in one country, absent in another, or listed under a different season structure. Check the local listing immediately before watching.
The official U.S. portal provides navigation for Unwavering Resolve, Mugen Train in both film and television forms, Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, Hashira Training and Infinity Castle. It also exposes a Blu-ray section. Use those official pages to confirm announcements and release information, while your local retailer or library determines whether a disc edition is actually accessible in your region.

- You need immediate access and do not want to store discs.
- Your local service carries every arc you intend to watch.
- You are comfortable with catalogs and season labels changing.
Blu-ray or another physical edition is best when
- You want ownership rather than continuing catalog access.
- You need dependable offline playback.
- You want to preserve a particular film or season edition for rewatching.
Buying a disc does not change the order. If you own both Mugen Train formats, choose one for the first run and reserve the other for a later comparison.

The complete television run contains 63 episodes, including the seven-episode Mugen Train Arc. If you choose the Mugen Train film instead, the other television arcs still total 56 episodes: 26 in Unwavering Resolve, 11 in Entertainment District, 11 in Swordsmith Village and 8 in Hashira Training. The film replaces, rather than supplements, those seven television episodes for a normal first watch.
| Route | TV episodes watched | Mugen Train format | Overlap avoided |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full TV route | 63 | 7 episodes | None, if you skip the feature film |
| Film route | 56 | 1 feature film | None, if you skip the TV arc |
| Completionist route | 63 | Film plus 7 episodes | No; the central Mugen Train events are repeated |
These totals count only the released television arcs named above. They do not count the optional world-tour compilations or Infinity Castle Part 1, which is a film.
Rank #4
- The disk has English audio and subtitles.
A spoiler-safe way to organize a group watch
- Agree on whether the group wants the Mugen Train film or TV arc before starting episode 27 or searching for the next title.
- Record the arc name, not just the platform season number, in your shared checklist.
- Finish the selected Mugen Train version before opening Entertainment District.
- Do not add a compilation film simply because it appears between two seasons in a service interface; verify whether it is a recap of an arc you are already watching.
- Stop after Hashira Training if Infinity Castle Part 1 is not available in your country, rather than substituting an unofficial upload or an incorrectly labeled special.
This method prevents the most common group-watch mistakes: starting the same Mugen Train story twice, confusing a recap screening with a new arc and assuming a regional season number is universal.

Common watch-order mistakes and fixes
Starting with a compilation movie
A compilation may summarize earlier episodes, but it is not the fullest introduction to the series. Begin with all 26 Unwavering Resolve episodes unless you deliberately want a recap format.
Watching both Mugen Train versions by accident
Check the listing before pressing play. A seven-episode title that says Mugen Train Arc is the television retelling; a single feature-length title is the film. If you have already watched one, skip the other and continue to Entertainment District.
Putting Swordsmith Village before Entertainment District
Keep the three middle arcs in this order: Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, Hashira Training. Their release chronology and story chronology align, so there is no reason to rearrange them.
Assuming five platform seasons means five story arcs
Open the episode list and identify the arc title. Platform packaging is regional and can change; the arc names and episode counts are the stable guide.
Treating Infinity Castle as optional
Infinity Castle Part 1 is the continuation after Hashira Training and the first film in the concluding trilogy. It is a required next story installment, unlike the two recap-oriented world-tour screenings.
Quick checklist
- ☐ Unwavering Resolve episodes 1–26 completed.
- ☐ One Mugen Train version selected.
- ☐ Entertainment District episodes 1–11 completed.
- ☐ Swordsmith Village episodes 1–11 completed.
- ☐ Hashira Training episodes 1–8 completed.
- ☐ Infinity Castle Part 1 queued as the next film.
- ☐ Optional world-tour compilations skipped or deliberately chosen as recaps.
- ☐ Local streaming or disc availability checked for your country.
Bottom line for first-time viewers
Start with the 26-episode Unwavering Resolve Arc, choose either Mugen Train the film or its seven-episode TV arc, then watch Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training in that order. Skip the two compilation screenings when the full TV arcs are available. After Hashira Training, continue with Infinity Castle Part 1, which begins the final film trilogy.
