Watch the Grand Theft Auto trailer catalogue in the release sequence of the mainline games: start with Rockstar Games’ official archive entries for Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V, then watch the documented Grand Theft Auto VI videos in this order: Trailer 1 (December 5, 2023), Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025), An Extended Look (August 27, 2026) and Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026).
This is publication order, not the fictional chronology of Liberty City, Vice City, San Andreas or Leonida. Rockstar’s first-party pages are the best place to watch the original uploads and to distinguish numbered trailers from extended looks and television commercials.

The complete release-order route
- Grand Theft Auto III era: open Rockstar’s official archive entries for Grand Theft Auto III.
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City era: continue with the official Vice City trailer entries.
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas era: follow with the official San Andreas entries.
- Grand Theft Auto IV era: use Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV-filtered archive, including its multiple trailer entries and the official television commercial if you want the broader promotional record.
- Grand Theft Auto V era: watch Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto V trailer entry.
- Grand Theft Auto VI: watch Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look and the Launch Trailer in that dated order.
Rockstar’s older archive pages expose titles and videos but do not present a complete, consistently dated list for every pre-GTA VI trailer. For those games, keep the archive’s displayed ordering and do not assign dates that Rockstar does not show.

What “release order” means here
A release-order marathon follows when Rockstar published each promotional video, arranged around the release sequence of the mainline games. It does not follow the years in which the stories take place. For example, a trailer for a game set in an earlier fictional period still belongs in the position determined by when that game’s campaign was promoted and released.

- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
The word “trailer” also covers several formats in Rockstar’s archive. A numbered trailer, an extended look and a launch trailer are separate videos, while a television commercial is a shorter advertising format. Decide whether you want only conventional game trailers or the widest first-party video record before you begin.
Where to find the official videos
Use Rockstar Games’ own video archive and game-specific media pages rather than a fan playlist. First-party pages preserve the publisher’s titles and labels, which matters when a game has several cuts or when a video is called an extended look rather than a numbered trailer.
- Open Rockstar’s official video archive.
- Choose the relevant game or franchise filter for the era you are watching.
- Open each result in the order displayed by Rockstar. For older games, the archive is the authority for which videos are grouped together; its searched pages do not provide a uniform date for every entry.
- When you reach Grand Theft Auto IV, inspect the filtered results rather than stopping after the first video. Rockstar’s filtered page exposes multiple trailer entries and an official TV commercial.
- After Grand Theft Auto V, move to Rockstar’s dedicated Grand Theft Auto VI media page, which lists four dated videos.
- Check the title on each page before playing. This prevents an “Extended Look” or commercial from being mistaken for a numbered trailer.
Master watch order
| Position | Game or era | What to watch | Date information | Format and hosting |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Grand Theft Auto III | Official archive trailer entry or entries | Not stated consistently on the older Rockstar archive pages | Rockstar first-party archive video |
| 2 | Grand Theft Auto: Vice City | Official archive trailer entry or entries | Not stated consistently on the older Rockstar archive pages | Rockstar first-party archive video |
| 3 | Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas | Official archive trailer entry or entries | Not stated consistently on the older Rockstar archive pages | Rockstar first-party archive video |
| 4 | Grand Theft Auto IV | All relevant trailer entries in the GTA IV filter; optionally include the official TV commercial | Not stated consistently on the older Rockstar archive pages | Multiple Rockstar archive videos, including a commercial |
| 5 | Grand Theft Auto V | Rockstar’s official GTA V trailer entry | Not stated in the consistently dated form used for GTA VI | Rockstar first-party archive video |
| 6 | Grand Theft Auto VI | Trailer 1; Trailer 2; An Extended Look; Launch Trailer | December 5, 2023; May 6, 2025; August 27, 2026; October 15, 2026 | Four videos on Rockstar’s dedicated GTA VI media page |
The first five rows are an era-based route through Rockstar’s archive, not a claim that each game has only one trailer. The GTA VI row is different: Rockstar explicitly identifies and dates all four videos.

| Order | Rockstar title | Publication date | What the label tells you |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Trailer 1 | December 5, 2023 | The first official reveal video for GTA VI |
| 2 | Trailer 2 | May 6, 2025 | The second numbered trailer |
| 3 | An Extended Look | August 27, 2026 | A longer-form presentation, separately listed from the numbered trailers |
| 4 | Launch Trailer | October 15, 2026 | The launch-period trailer, listed by Rockstar as the newest video |
Rockstar’s Trailer 1 page describes the setting this way: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.” The quotation identifies the setting and Rockstar’s positioning of the game; it does not change the order in which the videos should be watched.

How to make the archive marathon genuinely complete
Use the game sequence before the video sequence
Begin with the archive’s Grand Theft Auto III filter, then move through Vice City, San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V. This keeps the historical progression understandable even where Rockstar does not show a consistent date beside every old upload.
Include every result within a game filter
Do not assume that the first result is the entire record. The Grand Theft Auto IV filter demonstrates why: it contains multiple trailer entries and a TV commercial. If your definition of “every official trailer” includes commercials, play that commercial after the conventional GTA IV trailer entries. If you want only trailers, stop after the entries labelled as trailers and record the commercial as optional bonus material.
Keep Rockstar’s labels intact
For GTA VI, preserve the exact distinctions between “Trailer 1,” “Trailer 2,” “An Extended Look” and “Launch Trailer.” Calling all four simply “trailers” loses useful information, while treating the extended look as a third numbered trailer creates an inaccurate timeline.

Do not backfill missing historical dates
Some older Rockstar pages show a title and playable video without a consistently presented publication date. In a personal watch list, you can note the game era and the archive page instead of guessing a day or year. A precise date is useful only when Rockstar supplies it.

Should commercials and other promotional videos count?
There is no single universal definition of “every GTA trailer.” Rockstar’s archive contains more than one promotional format, so choose one of these scopes:
- Trailer-only marathon: watch entries explicitly presented as trailers, including the four separately named GTA VI videos.
- First-party video marathon: watch every relevant result in each game filter, including television commercials. This is the broadest interpretation supported by the archive structure.
- Mainline reveal marathon: limit the route to the mainline games listed above and exclude separate expansion or online-focused videos unless Rockstar places them within the game filter you are using.
The safest approach is to state your scope in the playlist title. “GTA mainline trailers” signals a trailer-only list, while “Rockstar GTA promotional videos” tells viewers that commercials and other formats may be included.
Using the Definitive Edition collection as a companion
Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition collection brings together Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas with updated visuals and controls. It is not a replacement for the original trailer archive: the collection is a game package, while the archive supplies the first-party promotional videos. It can, however, provide a convenient way to revisit the three games after watching their early trailers.
What changes for Grand Theft Auto VI
The GTA VI video sequence is the only part of this guide with a fully dated, explicitly named four-video run in the supplied Rockstar pages. As of October 20, 2026, all four listed dates have passed, so the Launch Trailer belongs at the end of a current release-order watch-through.
Rank #4
If you plan to continue from trailers into the game itself, Rockstar’s store lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with a November 19, 2026 release date. The physical edition shown there is a $79.99 code-in-box product: the box contains a download code and no disc. That store information describes the edition, not an additional trailer or a change to the video order.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Watching by fictional chronology: the settings’ in-universe years are not the publication order.
- Starting with a fan compilation: compilations can omit commercials, alter titles or use re-uploads; Rockstar’s archive is the canonical reference for the official versions.
- Assuming one video per game: the GTA IV filter alone shows why that shortcut fails.
- Calling the extended look “Trailer 3”: Rockstar lists it as “An Extended Look,” a separate format.
- Inventing dates for classic trailers: where an older archive page does not present a consistent date, identify the game and archive entry without adding an unsupported date.
- Mixing releases with merchandise: Rockstar’s store also carries GTA-themed apparel and collectibles, but those products are unrelated to the trailer timeline.
A practical viewing plan
One sitting
Open the five historical game filters in order, watch every trailer result you want to include, then switch to the GTA VI media page for its four dated videos. Keep a text note of each title as you go, especially within the GTA IV filter.
Two sessions
- Session one: watch the Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V archive material.
- Session two: watch GTA VI Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look and Launch Trailer in their dated order.
This split preserves the historical progression while giving the modern four-video sequence its own clearly labelled finale.

For a reliable official timeline, move through Rockstar’s archive from Grand Theft Auto III to Vice City, San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V, then finish with GTA VI Trailer 1 (December 5, 2023), Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025), An Extended Look (August 27, 2026) and Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026). Treat commercials as an optional wider scope, and never supply historical dates that Rockstar’s archive does not establish.
