What packs and the Transfer Market actually do
Ultimate Team has two different ways to obtain items. A pack is a randomized draw from the current Ultimate Team content pool. The Transfer Market is a player-to-player marketplace for items that EA has marked tradeable. Packs can contain Player Items (footballers) and Club Items such as kits, vanity items, managers and consumables. The market does not turn every pack reward into something sellable: only tradeable items can be listed or exchanged for Coins.
That distinction changes the sensible choice. A pack offers a chance at several possible categories and ratings, but not a direct route to one named footballer. Buying a tradeable item on the market targets that item directly, subject to its availability and current price. Neither method has a permanently fixed value: pack content and probabilities are updated, while market prices respond to supply, demand and an item’s in-game performance.

How Ultimate Team pack odds work
Where to see the current percentages
For packs offered for FC Points, open the Ultimate Team Store and choose Show Pack Probabilities. The panel is the authoritative listing for that pack at that moment. It reports the minimum probability of receiving one or more items in a named item category and rating range. The display also includes a timestamp showing when those values were accurate.
Read the panel before every purchase. A pack can be part of a live promotion, and EA reruns its probability calculations when content changes. An article, video or screenshot made earlier can therefore describe a different set of odds from the one currently shown in your game.
A category chance is not a chance of one player
The percentage beside a category applies to obtaining at least one item that meets that category’s definition. It does not identify the footballer you will receive. EA selects a particular item from a much larger eligible pool, so the probability of one named player is significantly lower than the category percentage and is often below 1% as a general description.

Those numbers are deliberately illustrative and may not match the final FC 27 product. They demonstrate the format, not current store odds. Do not treat the table as a prediction for a pack you can buy today.
Categories can overlap
Displayed categories are not mutually exclusive outcomes. One item can satisfy more than one category—for instance, a player rated 84 or higher also satisfies a lower rating band. Consequently, adding the percentages on screen does not produce the probability of a single, non-overlapping set of outcomes. The figures answer separate questions about whether the pack contains one or more items meeting each definition.

Every opening is independent
EA states that probabilities apply on a pack-by-pack basis and are not cumulative. Opening ten packs does not make the eleventh pack more likely to contain a desired rating or player. A run of poor results does not create a compensating “due” reward, and opening packs in a particular sequence cannot improve the displayed odds.
EA calculates the percentages by simulating many openings for each pack type and rerunning those calculations after content updates. That process explains why the live panel and its timestamp matter, but it does not make an individual outcome predictable.
How to decide whether to open a pack
- Open the pack’s probability panel. In Ultimate Team Store, select Show Pack Probabilities and note the item types and rating bands actually listed.
- Check the currency and the contents. Confirm whether the offer costs FC Points, Coins or another entry resource, and read any guaranteed minimum contents. A guaranteed rating band is not a guarantee of a particular player or of a tradeable item.
- Ask whether randomness fits your goal. If you need one specific footballer for a squad, a tradeable market listing is the direct route when that item is available. A pack makes sense only if you value the range of possible outcomes and accept that the desired item may not appear.
- Record the timestamp and offer details. Live promotions can change the pool and percentages. Use the in-game values for the decision rather than an old guide.
- Set a firm spending limit. The independent-opening rule means additional packs do not repair an earlier result. Stop when the purchase no longer represents value to you, rather than chasing a particular outcome.
Pack costs, contents and individual player probabilities are live values. EA does not publish one permanent odds table that applies to every FC 27 offer, so those figures must be read in the current store.

How the FC Transfer Market works
Tradeable items, listings and Coins
The Transfer Market allows tradeable Ultimate Team items to be exchanged with other players for Coins. When you list an item, EA supplies a minimum and maximum listing price. You choose a price within that range; another player can then buy it under the market’s normal listing rules. You can also quick-sell a tradeable item for Coins instead of waiting for a buyer.
The price you see is not a guaranteed or permanent valuation. Average Coin prices move with supply and demand and can also react to an item’s in-game performance. A popular item may become more expensive when many squads need it, while a large supply from packs can push prices down. Compare several current listings and check whether the item is actually selling before treating a displayed price as realistic.
Untradeable rewards cannot be listed, transferred or converted into a market sale. They remain usable for your club or for game systems that accept them, but they do not provide a route to Coins through the Transfer Market.

The table compares the mechanics, not which route is cheaper. Exact pack costs, market prices, taxes or fees and stock levels are live values rather than stable figures.
How to earn Coins without risking your account
Legitimate routes
EA identifies playing matches and selling tradeable items at a fair market price as legitimate ways to earn Coins. You may also quick-sell tradeable items. These activities keep the Coins inside the game economy and follow the intended use of the market.

- List tradeable items at a reasonable price within the item’s permitted range.
- Quick-sell tradeable items when an immediate, known return is preferable to waiting for a buyer.
Actions EA prohibits
Do not buy Coins from a third party, move Coins between accounts, or use the market to distribute Coins through deliberately improper listings. EA treats those activities as violations of its FC rules. Penalties can include restricted or revoked market access, including access in the Companion App, as well as other account action.
A promise from a seller, Discord group or website that Coins are “safe” does not change the rule. Never give another service your EA login details to arrange a transfer, and do not use bots or artificial transactions to move value between accounts. The safe principle is simple: earn Coins through play and ordinary, fair market sales.

Some new accounts go through EA’s Graduated Access process before every market function is enabled. The process is intended to establish normal play activity before full trading access. EA’s current instructions are summarized at Unlock the Transfer Market in EA SPORTS FC.
- Play and complete the required objectives. The objectives shown to your account are the authority for what remains to be done; requirements can vary by account status.
- Finish the objectives and wait for the access review. Completing them does not necessarily unlock every function immediately.
- Use the interim access correctly. EA says listing may be available during the post-objective waiting period, while searching, bidding and Buy Now can remain unavailable.
- Allow the stated platform wait. EA’s current support instructions say full access should arrive within 48 hours after objective completion on PC or within 24 hours on other platforms.
Those time frames are EA’s current guidance, not a guarantee that every account will unlock on exactly the same schedule. Platform, region, account history and current access status can affect availability. If the stated period passes, check the account’s objective status and EA Help rather than repeatedly attempting prohibited workarounds.

Coins are the in-game currency used in the Ultimate Team economy and earned through gameplay or fair sales. FC Points are paid currency. EA says FC Points can be used in the Ultimate Team Store for packs and other store items, to enter Ultimate Team Drafts and for the Premium Pass.

Purchase FC Points only through the Ultimate Team Store, your console’s store or a trusted retailer, as described in EA’s Coins and FC Points safety guidance. FC Points do not become market Coins, and buying FC Points does not guarantee a particular player. The store shows the current price, contents and probability panel for each offer.
Keep the two currencies separate when planning a squad. FC Points pay for specified store or mode purchases; Coins pay for eligible market items. A website offering to convert one into the other or to sell discounted Coins is outside EA’s permitted system.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Reading a category percentage as a player percentage: A Gold 84+ category chance covers every eligible player in that band, not the one footballer you want.
- Adding overlapping categories: A single item can qualify for several displayed bands, so their percentages cannot simply be added together.
- Believing packs become luckier: Openings are independent and non-cumulative; a losing streak does not alter the next result.
- Assuming every reward is sellable: Check the item status. Only tradeable items can be listed or quick-sold for Coins.
- Treating a market average as a fixed price: Prices change with supply, demand and performance. Check live listings before buying or selling.
- Using extreme listings to move Coins: Market-based Coin distribution can trigger restrictions or bans. Keep sales fair and ordinary.
- Expecting instant access after objectives: Graduated Access can include a waiting period, with different current guidance for PC and other platforms.
- Trusting old screenshots: Probability values are recalculated after content updates. Use the store’s current panel and timestamp.
A practical workflow for building your squad
If you need a specific player
Check the Transfer Market first. Search for the exact item, compare active listings and confirm that your Coin balance covers a price within the permitted range. If no suitable listing exists, waiting for supply or choosing a different player is more predictable than opening packs solely to chase that name.
If you want a broad set of rewards
Review the pack’s live categories, rating bands, guaranteed minimum contents and currency cost. Decide in advance what result would make the purchase worthwhile. Remember that the percentage applies to one opening and that a particular player can remain far below the displayed category chance.
If you are starting a new account
Complete the Graduated Access objectives through normal play, note which market actions are currently enabled and wait for the applicable platform period. Do not attempt external Coin purchases or account-to-account transfers while access is restricted; those actions can create a separate enforcement problem.
The practical takeaway
Packs are probability-based bundles whose live percentages describe broad categories, not named-player guarantees. The Transfer Market is the targeted route for available tradeable items, with prices constrained by EA’s listing limits but moved by supply and demand. Earn Coins through matches and fair sales, keep FC Points for their stated store and mode uses, and rely on the in-game probability panel plus current EA Help pages for changing details.
