Xbox Free Play Days is a rotating, time-limited way to play selected games during a published event window. The rules vary by game: a title may require an eligible Game Pass membership, be open to all Xbox members, or be offered as a timed trial. Check each game’s listing and the event dates before downloading.
What Free Play Days includes
Free Play Days is a changing selection, not a permanent catalog. Xbox announces the participating games and the dates each event runs. A listing may offer access for the event window or specify a shorter trial, so the event name alone does not tell you how long you can play.
For example, Xbox’s September 24, 2026 announcement listed The Escapists 2 and Young Suns for Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members, while PGA TOUR 2K25 and The Division 2 were available to all Xbox members during that event. A September 10 announcement described a two-hour trial of Dustborn and access to Madden NFL 27 for all Xbox members. These were event-specific offers, not standing eligibility rules. See the [September 24 event announcement] and [September 10 event announcement].
How to find and install a Free Play Days game
- Check the current event and the individual game listing. Confirm the event dates, eligibility, access type and supported platform for the title you want.
- On Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, open the Store. Go to the Subscriptions tab and scroll to the Free Play Days collection.
- Choose the game and install it. You can also open the selected game’s detail page on Xbox.com and install through Microsoft Store while signed in.
Xbox’s September 24, 2026 instructions direct console players to the Store’s Subscriptions tab and Free Play Days collection. The [announcement] also links to game detail pages.

How to check whether you qualify
Read the eligibility note attached to each game. Some offers name eligible Game Pass tiers; others say they are available to all Xbox members. A timed trial will state its limit. Do not assume that every game requires Game Pass—or that every offer is open to everyone. Past events illustrate these differences, but their terms do not determine a later event’s lineup. Xbox’s [July 16, 2026 announcement] is another example of title-specific event details.
What happens when the event ends?
Access under the event ends according to the offer’s terms. Xbox says players can purchase a featured game at a limited-time discount and continue playing while keeping Gamerscore and achievements earned during the event. The discount and availability can vary by game and region, so check the game’s store listing for its purchase price and terms. Do not assume a particular discount or that every title will have the same post-event option.
