That means “new” and “affordable” cannot yet be confirmed; what can be confirmed is a 17.3-inch QHD configuration with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
What HP lists for the OMEN 17-db1097nr
HP’s US store identifies the laptop by its full model number, OMEN Gaming Laptop 17-db1097nr. Its listed configuration is:
- Display: 17.3 inches, QHD resolution
- Processor: AMD Ryzen AI 7; the store material available here does not identify the exact sub-model
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU
- Memory: 32 GB RAM
- Storage: 1 TB SSD
These details come from HP’s US store listing. The retrieved listing does not establish the panel’s refresh rate or brightness, so those details should not be inferred from the resolution or another OMEN configuration.
Is the OMEN 17 new, and is it affordable?
The available HP store material does not state when the 17-db1097nr launched, its starting price, or its current sale price. Without a dated price and a defined comparison—such as similarly equipped laptops sold in the same market—“affordable” is a marketing characterization, not a substantiated price verdict. HP’s store page uses promotional language about competing without “highest level prices,” but that wording is not a price or comparison.

The confirmed listing is US-facing. It should not be treated as proof of availability or pricing in other countries.
Don’t confuse this listing with older or related OMEN 17 models
OMEN 17 is a product family, not a single fixed configuration. HP’s 2024 AMD OMEN 17 page describes Ryzen 8040 Series processors and graphics up to RTX 4070 Laptop GPU; that is historical generation context, not the specification or launch announcement for the 17-db1097nr. HP’s 2024 OMEN 17 page and the newer store listing should be read as separate references.

HP Support’s 17-db1000 series page lists a Ryzen AI 5 340 option, with up to 4.8 GHz max boost, six cores, 12 threads and an NPU rated at 50 TOPS. It also lists an 83 Wh battery option. These are family-level specifications and do not establish that the 17-db1097nr has that processor or battery. HP Support: OMEN 17-db1000 series
Likewise, HP Support’s 17-db0000 series page lists an RTX 4070 Laptop GPU option and a processor configuration restriction. That does not override the RTX 5070 shown for the distinct 17-db1097nr store configuration. HP Support: OMEN 17-db0000 series

What the listing does—and does not—tell gamers
The combination of a QHD screen and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU identifies the graphics and display class HP is listing, but it does not by itself establish frame rates, settings, thermals, battery life, or how the laptop performs in particular games. No independent benchmark results or complete display specifications are established in the cited material. The Ryzen AI branding also does not establish the exact processor model or an NPU specification for this SKU.
For a purchase decision, verify that a retailer’s listing matches 17-db1097nr and the advertised 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD and RTX 5070 configuration. A family name alone is not enough to confirm that you are comparing the same laptop.
