On January 5, 2026, HP introduced the HyperX OMEN MAX 16, HyperX OMEN 16, and HyperX OMEN 15, while placing OMEN and HyperX under a unified HyperX gaming brand. The Victus 15 reference belongs to HP’s CES 2025 coverage.
The headline model is the OMEN MAX 16, which HP says can reach 300W of total platform power and use up to an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. The OMEN 15 offers a smaller premium option with up to an RTX 5070, while detailed 2026 specifications for the OMEN 16 depend on the regional SKU.

HP’s CES 2026 lineup: what was actually announced?
HP’s official CES 2026 materials list three gaming laptops:
- HyperX OMEN MAX 16
- HyperX OMEN 16
- HyperX OMEN 15
They do not identify a new Victus 15 as part of the CES 2026 laptop announcement. HP’s refreshed Victus 15 appeared in the company’s CES 2025 gaming coverage, where HP gave it an expected January 2025 availability date and a $1,199.99 starting price. That launch price should not be treated as a current price.

The correction matters because OMEN 15 and Victus 15 are separate product lines. OMEN is HP’s premium gaming family; Victus is positioned as the more affordable alternative.
Why the laptops are called “HyperX OMEN”
HP said it is bringing OMEN and HyperX together under the HyperX master gaming brand. In practical terms:
- HyperX is the overarching gaming brand.
- OMEN remains the name of HP’s gaming-laptop and gaming-PC family.
- Victus remains the lower-cost gaming line.
This is a branding transition, not evidence that OMEN has disappeared. Older products may be labeled HP OMEN, while 2026 announcements use the HyperX OMEN name.
HyperX OMEN MAX 16: the flagship
The OMEN MAX 16 is designed around a much higher power ceiling than a conventional gaming laptop. HP says it supports up to 300W of total platform power, a claimed 50W, or 20%, increase over the previous generation.
That figure refers to total platform power—not a 300W GPU TGP. Actual graphics power, performance, noise, and temperatures depend on the specific configuration and operating conditions.
Maximum announced hardware
- Next-generation Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors
- Next-generation AMD Ryzen AI processors
- Up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU
- Up to 64GB of DDR5-6400 memory
- Up to a 2TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD
“Up to” is important. An OMEN MAX 16 with an RTX 5090, maximum memory, fastest storage, and top display is a ceiling for the family, not a specification shared by every retail model.
Display and gaming features
HP has referenced more than one display configuration in its announcement materials. Options include a 21:9 WQHD V-Stripe QD-OLED panel with up to a 360Hz refresh rate and a claimed 0.03ms response time. HP’s later showcase listing also identifies an option reaching 2.5K resolution and 240Hz.

- Fully internal cooling
- HyperX ProLuma color features
- 100W USB-C power delivery
- A built-in KVM switch
- A customizable 3D-printable headphone hook
- A high-polling-rate keyboard, including a HyperAction 1000Hz option in HP’s showcase listing
HP presents the internal cooling system as a way to support the higher power envelope. It does not establish that the laptop will be quiet, cool under sustained load, immune to throttling, or better than every competing gaming laptop. Those questions require independent testing.
What is known about the HyperX OMEN 16?
HP’s official CES 2026 product listings confirm the HyperX OMEN 16 as part of the new family, positioned below the OMEN MAX 16. HP also describes the broader 2026 range as receiving faster hardware and features such as self-cleaning fans, a high-polling-rate keyboard, and OMEN AI.
However, the CES announcement materials provide substantially less configuration detail for the OMEN 16 than for the MAX 16 and OMEN 15. Processor, GPU, display, power limits, battery, dimensions, weight, ports, and pricing should be checked against the exact regional product page or datasheet.
Do not use the specifications from HP’s OMEN 16 16-am0000 support page as a description of the CES 2026 model. That page identifies a series released in January 2025.

HyperX OMEN 15: smaller, still premium
HP’s CES 2026 showcase lists the OMEN 15 with these maximum specifications:
| Component | Maximum listed specification |
|---|---|
| Processor | Intel Core Ultra 9 386H |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU |
| Memory | 32GB DDR5-5600 |
| Storage | 1TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD |
| Display | 3K OLED at 120Hz |
| Response time | 0.2ms claim |
| Keyboard | HyperAction keyboard with up to 8000Hz polling |
These are selectable or maximum specifications, not a guarantee that every OMEN 15 sold will include them. The exact panel, memory, storage, GPU power limit, ports, and price depend on the retail SKU and region.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What does OMEN AI do?
HP describes OMEN AI as a one-click performance-optimization feature. Its CES 2026 showcase claims up to a 42% FPS increase in examples such as Fortnite.
That is an HP claim, not a universal performance result. Any improvement depends on the game, laptop configuration, drivers, graphics settings, and the changes made by the software. OMEN AI should not be treated as equivalent to installing a faster CPU or GPU. Supported games, controls, and optimization behavior should be confirmed in the current OMEN Gaming Hub software.
Availability and pricing
HP initially said the OMEN MAX 16 was expected to reach HP.com in spring 2026, with pricing to be announced closer to availability. That was an estimate rather than a single worldwide launch date.
As of the August 2026 research snapshot, HP’s U.S. store and support pages list OMEN MAX configurations, but availability and specifications vary by country and SKU. Check the OMEN MAX product page and HP’s gaming-laptop store for the current configuration.
When comparing prices, separate the launch MSRP, current list price, promotional price, processor, GPU, memory, storage, display, warranty, and return terms. A product-family name alone is not enough for a fair comparison.

Choose the OMEN MAX 16 if:
- You want the highest available GPU and power ceiling in this family.
- You value premium OLED, KVM, USB-C power delivery, and enthusiast input hardware.
- You accept greater weight, possible fan noise, higher surface temperatures, and reliance on mains power.
Choose the OMEN 16 if:
- You want a conventional 16-inch gaming laptop.
- You prefer a balance between performance, price, and portability.
- You do not need the MAX model’s highest power envelope.
Exact OMEN 16 recommendations should wait for the configuration and pricing available in your market.

Choose the OMEN 15 if:
- You prefer a smaller chassis.
- An RTX 5070-class GPU is sufficient.
- You want an OLED display and very high keyboard polling rate without stepping up to the MAX 16.
Consider Victus instead if:
- Price is the overriding consideration.
- You can accept fewer premium chassis, display, keyboard, or cooling features.
- You do not need the OMEN MAX’s highest power limits.
What remains unknown
CES announcements do not establish real-world gaming FPS, sustained performance, fan noise, surface temperatures, battery life, display accuracy, long-term reliability, or value against competing laptops. They also do not guarantee that every market will receive the same processor, GPU, display, memory, storage, ports, or warranty.
Buyers should compare exact configurations against alternatives such as Lenovo Legion Pro, ASUS ROG, Acer Predator Helios, and Dell Alienware only after checking GPU power limits, display specifications, weight, battery capacity, warranty, and street price.
The bottom line
The important CES 2026 story is HP’s HyperX-and-OMEN brand unification and the arrival of the HyperX OMEN MAX 16, OMEN 16, and OMEN 15. The Victus 15 was not identified as a new CES 2026 laptop; it was part of HP’s CES 2025 coverage. The OMEN MAX 16 is the performance flagship, the OMEN 15 is the smaller RTX 5070-class option, and the OMEN 16 needs SKU-level verification before its value can be judged fairly.
