First, identify what is failing
Before downloading anything, check these details:
- Which program shows the message: If it appears while printing, adding an HP printer, starting Windows, or starting the Print Spooler, treat it as a printer-driver problem rather than a general application error.
- When it began: Note whether you recently removed a printer, reinstalled it, upgraded Windows, cleaned the Driver Store, or saw an antivirus quarantine alert.
- Your Windows installation: Open Settings → System → About and check whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
- The printer model: Look for the model name on the printer or in Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.

hpc6300t.dll is an HP print-processor component, not a normal Windows runtime. It is loaded by the Windows Print Spooler as part of an HP printer driver, so the safest repair is to restore the complete HP package and its printer queue.
What is hpc6300t.dll?
Public file records identify hpc6300t.dll as HP Print Processor, associated with HP UI and Hewlett-Packard. It is connected with the legacy HP driver package identified by prnhp004.inf, including the HP Photosmart C6300 family. That family includes models such as the Photosmart C6340, C6350, C6375, C6380, and C6383.

A print processor is a user-mode DLL used by Windows printing. Microsoft explains that it converts spooled print data before the data is passed to a print monitor. This is why the error can appear when a print job starts, the spooler loads a driver, or Windows tries to create a printer queue.

Typical reported messages include:
- “The program can’t start because hpc6300t.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “There was a problem starting hpc6300t.dll.”
- “Error loading hpc6300t.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because hpc6300t.dll was not found.”
- “hpc6300t.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
“Specified module could not be found” does not always mean the DLL itself has disappeared. The file may be present while a dependency, INF registration, or printer-driver package is damaged.
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the HP printer
This is the most likely solution. Reinstalling the entire driver package repairs missing files, package registration, and the queue together.
Remove the printer queue
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Choose the affected HP printer.
- Select Remove and confirm.
- Restart Windows.
If the printer is not listed, continue with the driver cleanup below. A removed printer can still leave its driver package registered.

- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter

- In Print Server Properties, open the Drivers tab.
- Select the obsolete HP driver.
- Choose Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package if Windows offers that choice.
- Confirm and restart the computer.
Do not remove a package if another working HP printer depends on it. If Windows says the driver is in use, restart the Print Spooler first:
net stop spooler
net start spooler
Run those commands in Command Prompt as administrator. Then try the driver removal again.
Install the correct package
Use HP’s official support page for the exact Photosmart C6300 model, select your Windows version, and install the offered package. If HP provides an in-OS or supported Windows driver instead of the older full package, use that option.

During setup:
- Disconnect the printer’s USB cable if the installer requests it.
- Run the official installer.
- Connect the printer only when prompted.
- Choose the correct model from the list.
- Complete setup.
- Return to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Open the printer and choose Print a test page.
Success means the queue is recreated, the test page prints, and the hpc6300t.dll message no longer appears when the spooler or printer software starts.
If the error returns immediately
The wrong package may still be selected. Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers, right-click the printer, select Printer properties, and open the Advanced tab. On older HP drivers, the Print Processor button can show the selected processor. If the HP processor is missing or the property page fails, remove the queue and driver package again before reinstalling.
Fix 2: Check the printer architecture and package
A driver must match the Windows installation and printer model. Do not replace a missing file with a DLL copied from another computer.
Check Windows architecture:
- Open Settings → System → About.
- Find System type.
- Note whether the system is 64-bit or 32-bit.
- Return to the HP support page and select the matching Windows option.
A 32-bit file cannot simply be substituted for a 64-bit driver component. Also, the System32 directory name can be misleading: on 64-bit Windows it normally contains 64-bit components, while many 32-bit components use SysWOW64. The directory name alone does not prove the file’s architecture.
Windows stores driver files in the protected Driver Store, often beneath a path containing DriverStoreFileRepository. Do not manually edit or delete files there. Microsoft requires driver packages to be staged through the Driver Store, and files referenced by the INF are installed as part of that package.

Fix 3: Restart and rebuild the Print Spooler
A stale spooler job can keep loading a broken HP processor.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
services.msc. - Press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
- If restart fails, choose Stop, wait briefly, then choose Start.
You can also use an elevated Command Prompt:
net stop spooler
net start spooler
Afterward, remove any failed print jobs from the queue and print a test page. If the spooler stops again as soon as the HP queue is used, the queue or its driver package remains damaged. Repeat the removal and reinstall steps rather than copying a DLL.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components
Windows corruption can interfere with driver installation and spooler services, although DISM and SFC generally do not replace third-party HP files.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Install pending Windows updates.
- Restart the computer.
- Open Command Prompt by searching for it, right-clicking Command Prompt, and selecting Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and reinstall the HP printer package.
DISM repairs the Windows component store. SFC checks protected Windows system files. Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC.
If repeatedly hunting through Windows components and rerunning SFC or DISM is slowing you down, Outbyte PC Repair can show what its scan identifies; repairs are performed by the full version, and it is optional. Reinstalling the HP printer package remains the definitive fix for this third-party print processor.
If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, restart and run the commands again. If the same corruption remains, use Windows recovery or System Restore rather than placing an unverified DLL into a system folder.
Fix 5: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software may have removed the file after detecting a damaged or altered driver package.

- Look for an event involving
hpc6300t.dllor the HP printer driver. - Do not restore it automatically.
- Check whether its original location was inside the expected HP driver package or Driver Store.
- Check the file’s Digital Signatures tab if the file is still available.
- Run a full security scan.
Restore a quarantined file only when its location, signature, and package context match the HP installation. The safer approach is usually to remove the HP package and reinstall it from the official HP support page. A DLL appearing in an unrelated application folder, lacking a valid signature, or returning after removal deserves further malware investigation.
Fix 6: Update or reinstall related drivers
If the HP installer fails, update Windows first, restart, and temporarily remove duplicate or obsolete HP queues. Device Manager can help identify related printer entries:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers and Print queues.
- Right-click only the confirmed obsolete HP device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the printer from HP or add it through Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device.
Do not uninstall unrelated devices merely because they appear under printers.
Manually comparing versions across several printer packages is tedious, especially after a Windows migration. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver issues and identify available driver installs; its repair or installation feature requires the full version and is optional. For this file, always keep the exact HP model and Windows compatibility in control.
Newer Windows releases increasingly prefer Microsoft’s IPP inbox printer driver, while legacy third-party printer drivers are being phased out. If Windows offers a supported built-in driver for the C6300 series, it may be more reliable than forcing an old package that depends on hpc6300t.dll.
Do not copy the DLL or use regsvr32
Avoid downloading hpc6300t.dll from random DLL websites. An isolated file can contain malware, have the wrong version or architecture, lack the correct signature, or fail because the printer’s INF registration and dependencies are still broken.
Copying it into System32, SysWOW64, or a printer folder is not a proper repair. Microsoft also says Driver Store files should not be modified directly.

regsvr32 hpc6300t.dll is not a general solution. regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide COM registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. Print processors are installed and associated through the printer driver’s INF and package mechanism, not normally by manually registering the DLL.
When to use System Restore
Use System Restore only after removing and reinstalling the printer package, repairing Windows, and checking security software.
It is appropriate when:
- The error began immediately after a driver or Windows change.
- The original restore point predates the failure.
- The printer still fails after a clean package reinstall.
- Other system components also began malfunctioning.
Search for Recovery from the Start menu, open Recovery, select Open System Restore, choose a restore point, and review affected programs before confirming. System Restore is a system-wide rollback, not the normal fix for one printer DLL.
FAQ
Is hpc6300t.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is an HP printer-driver print processor. Windows loads it through the Print Spooler when an HP driver package requires it.
Which printers use hpc6300t.dll?
It is associated with the legacy prnhp004.inf package and the HP Photosmart C6300 family, including models such as C6340, C6350, C6375, C6380, and C6383. Public indexing does not establish an exhaustive model list.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteShould I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Generally no. There is no verified evidence that those application runtimes repair this specific HP print-processor component. Repair the HP printer package first.
Why does the message appear after I removed the printer?
A stale queue, startup utility, or retained HP driver may still reference the old package. Remove the queue and driver through Printer settings and Print Server Properties, then restart the spooler.
What if the DLL exists but Windows still says it is missing?
The message may indicate a missing dependency or broken package registration. Confirm the driver architecture, remove the complete package, restart the spooler, and reinstall the correct HP or supported Windows driver.
What if none of these steps works?
Check the exact printer model, review the Print Spooler event logs, run a full malware scan, and test with Windows’ supported built-in printer driver. If the failure began after a system change, use System Restore or Windows recovery as a last resort.
