The file belongs to an Intel graphics-driver package, not to the Visual C++ runtime, .NET, or the normal DirectX redistributable. Intel technical material lists it with related files including igdumd64.dll, igd10umd32.dll, and igdumdx32.dll.

On a 64-bit Windows installation, the file may appear in locations such as:
C:WindowsSystem32- A Windows Driver Store location
- A driver-managed application or package folder
The exact location depends on Windows and the driver package. Do not treat System32 as an instruction to copy a downloaded file there.
igd10umd64.dll versus igd10umd32.dll
The 64 suffix identifies the 64-bit module. igd10umd32.dll is the 32-bit counterpart used by 32-bit software or a 32-bit driver component.
Windows being 64-bit does not mean you can substitute one file for the other. The correct module is selected by the complete graphics-driver package, the Intel GPU, the operating system, and the application architecture. Do not manually copy either file between folders.
Causes by symptom
| What you see | Most likely explanation | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
| A game says the file is missing at launch | Intel driver is incomplete, damaged, or mismatched | Reinstall the OEM or Intel graphics driver |
| Only one game or application fails | That program’s files or dependencies may be damaged | Verify, repair, or reinstall the application |
igd10umd64.dll appears as the faulting module in a crash |
The driver may have crashed; the file is not necessarily missing | Reinstall or roll back the driver, then test graphics settings |
| The problem began after a driver update | The new driver may be incompatible with the system | Roll back the driver or install the previous OEM package |
| Windows Security shows the file in quarantine | The file was removed or blocked | Check the detection and restore only a verified Intel/OEM file |
| The message says “specified module could not be found” | A dependency may be missing even if the named DLL exists | Repair the driver and inspect the application’s other dependencies |
| The computer has no Intel graphics adapter | The reference may be stale or incorrectly bundled | Remove the old application or driver and investigate the source |
Fix 1: Reinstall the correct Intel graphics driver
This is the safest and most likely solution for a genuine missing or damaged file.
Identify the installed graphics adapter
- Press Windows + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the Intel adapter and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Record the Driver Provider, Driver Date, and Driver Version.
If the laptop or branded desktop has an Intel adapter, check the manufacturer’s support page first. OEM packages can include custom display switching, power management, hotkeys, and other hardware-specific settings. A generic Intel driver may not work correctly on that system.
If no suitable OEM package is available, use Intel Driver & Support Assistant or Intel’s graphics-driver download area. Match the package to the exact GPU and Windows installation.
Recommended Free Tools
Install the driver
- Download the matching driver from the computer manufacturer or Intel.
- Close games and graphics applications.
- Run the installer.
- Choose the normal installation option unless the manufacturer gives different instructions.
- Restart Windows even if the installer does not insist on it.
- Launch the affected program again.
A successful repair usually means the program starts without the missing-file message, Device Manager shows the Intel adapter without a warning icon, and the driver tab displays the newly installed package.
Manually hunting through driver versions can be difficult when several Intel packages appear compatible. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what needs attention; its full repair and driver-install functions require the full version, and it is not required when you can install the correct OEM package yourself.
Roll back a recent driver
If the error began immediately after a graphics-driver update:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the Intel graphics adapter.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Roll Back Driver if the button is available.
- Choose a reason and confirm.
- Restart Windows.
If Roll Back Driver is unavailable, install the previous driver supplied by the computer manufacturer. Do not use a historical version simply because its filename or version number appears in a search result.
Fix 2: Repair or verify the affected game or application
If only one program crashes and other games or 3D applications work, the application installation may be the real problem.
Use the launcher’s repair feature
Open the launcher that installed the program and look for an option named Verify integrity, Verify files, Repair, or Scan and repair. The wording varies between launchers.
Allow the check to complete, then restart the launcher and test the program. This can restore an application file or dependency that was deleted without changing the graphics driver.
If the program still fails:
- Uninstall it from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall it from its original trusted source.
- Test it before adding mods, overlays, or third-party graphics injectors.
If the error belongs only to one application, reinstalling that application remains the definitive fix for its own damaged files. A driver reinstall cannot repair an application file that happens to mention igd10umd64.dll.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix 3: Install pending Windows updates
Windows Update can deliver a graphics driver, although the OEM package remains preferable when the computer manufacturer provides a customized release.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates, including optional driver updates when they clearly apply to the Intel adapter.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected program.
If Windows Update installs a generic driver and the problem starts afterward, use the OEM package or roll back through Device Manager.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when several Windows components are failing, system files are corrupted, or the problem followed an interrupted update. They may not restore a missing third-party Intel driver package, so do not treat them as a substitute for the driver reinstall.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the program again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and retest. If it reports that it could not repair everything, run the commands again after Windows Update, then return to the OEM graphics-driver installation.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing whether the driver package is actually present can waste time. Outbyte PC Repair can scan and identify broader Windows problems; its repair functions are handled by the full version, and it is optional rather than a requirement for restoring an Intel driver.
Do not expect Windows Features to install this file
igd10umd64.dll is not normally restored by turning on a Windows optional feature. Do not enable random items under Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off as a DLL repair method.
Legacy DirectX components can help when a game specifically reports a missing D3DX, XAudio, or XInput file, but they do not supply this Intel graphics-driver module. Visual C++ Redistributables likewise address separate runtime dependencies.

Fix 5: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software may have removed or blocked a driver file.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Open Start.
- Search for Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review detections involving the Intel graphics driver.
- Note the file path and detection name.
Restore the file only when all of the following are true:
- It came from a trusted Intel or OEM driver package.
- Its path is consistent with the installed driver.
- Its digital signature identifies a trusted Intel or OEM publisher.
- The detection is demonstrably a false positive.
Do not disable antivirus protection to force an unknown DLL to run. If the detection is genuine or the file has no trustworthy origin, remove it, scan the computer, and reinstall the driver from the official source.

System Restore can help when a suitable restore point predates the driver or Windows change.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Next > Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore does not normally remove personal documents, but it can change drivers, applications, and system settings installed after the selected restore point.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchDo not register or download this DLL
Do not run:
regsvr32 igd10umd64.dll
regsvr32 is intended for self-registering COM/OLE DLLs and ActiveX controls. A graphics-driver module normally does not provide the required DllRegisterServer entry point, so the command may return an error such as “DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.” Registration does not repair a broken graphics driver.
Avoid random DLL download sites websites and copied files from forums. A replacement may contain malware, belong to a different driver generation, use the wrong architecture, or create conflicts when placed in System32, SysWOW64, or a game folder. Copying a DLL can also leave Windows Driver Store servicing broken.
The safe sources are the computer manufacturer’s support package, Intel’s official driver tools, and Windows Update.
Verify the file when it is present but crashes
A crash report naming igd10umd64.dll does not prove that the DLL is missing. It may indicate an Intel driver defect, unstable hardware, overheating, bad memory, an incompatible game setting, or another component that corrupted the driver’s operation.
Check the file itself:
- Open the path shown in the error or crash report.
- Right-click
igd10umd64.dll. - Select Properties.
- Open Details and review the description and product information.
- Open Digital Signatures.
- Inspect the signer and signature status.
- Use Details to confirm that Windows considers the signature valid.
A file outside normal driver or application locations, lacking a trusted signature, or triggering antivirus detection is suspicious. Scan the system and reinstall the graphics driver rather than keeping that copy.
If the file is correctly signed and the driver is current, try these checks:
- Lower the game’s graphics settings.
- Disable overlays from launchers, recording software, and hardware monitors.
- Verify the game files.
- Check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application for related errors.
- Confirm whether the application is using Intel graphics or a discrete GPU.
- Test another graphics application.
If the computer has no Intel graphics adapter, the reference may come from an old application, a leftover driver, or an improperly bundled file. Remove or reinstall the program that produces the message instead of installing an Intel DLL.
FAQ
Is igd10umd64.dll a Windows file or an Intel file?
It is an Intel graphics-driver component installed through a graphics-driver package. Its presence in a Windows driver location does not mean it is an independent file supplied by Windows itself.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Is it safe?
A correctly installed and digitally signed copy from an Intel or OEM driver package is expected. A random copy from another location should be treated cautiously until its path, signature, and source are verified.
Does the 64 mean I should download the 64-bit file?
No. It identifies the module architecture, but the complete driver must also match the Intel GPU, Windows version, and OEM hardware configuration.
Will Visual C++ or DirectX fix it?
Not directly. Visual C++ and legacy DirectX packages provide different components. They may repair another error from the same application, but they do not replace this Intel driver DLL.
Why does Event Viewer list it if the file is still there?
Event Viewer may identify the module that was executing when the graphics driver crashed. The underlying cause can be a driver bug, application conflict, unstable hardware, or a missing dependency.
What if the message says “specified module could not be found”?
That wording can refer to a dependency required by igd10umd64.dll, not necessarily the named file. Reinstall the complete graphics driver and repair the affected application rather than copying a single DLL.
What if reinstalling the driver does not help?
Roll back to the previous OEM driver, verify or reinstall the affected application, check antivirus history, run DISM and SFC, and test with overlays and advanced graphics settings disabled. Persistent crashes may require hardware diagnostics or support from the computer manufacturer.
