iglhsip32.dll is a 32-bit Intel graphics-driver file, not a normal Windows component. If Windows says it is missing, cannot be loaded, or is not designed to run on Windows, reinstall the correct Intel graphics package for the computer’s GPU, Windows version, and system architecture.
Do not download a loose copy from a DLL website. The file must match the installed graphics hardware and driver stack. A random replacement can have the wrong architecture, belong to another Intel generation, or conceal the actual problem.

What iglhsip32.dll does
Intel graphics-driver packages include iglhsip32.dll for older integrated graphics stacks, including Intel HD Graphics and embedded Atom or Celeron graphics. Intel documentation lists it among display-driver files, while Intel’s symbol directory also distinguishes it from the 64-bit iglhsip64.dll.

It is not supplied by:
- Windows itself
- Visual C++ Redistributable

- A particular game
A game or application may be the first program to display the error because it uses the Intel graphics stack. That does not mean the game owns the DLL or that reinstalling a runtime will normally restore it.

Why it may be in SysWOW64
On 64-bit Windows, 32-bit system components commonly use the C:WindowsSysWOW64 location. The name is confusing: SysWOW64 is primarily the protected location for 32-bit system files on 64-bit Windows.
A 32-bit iglhsip32.dll in that directory can therefore be normal. Do not move it to System32, rename it to iglhsip64.dll, or copy it from another computer. The graphics-driver installer should place the correct file automatically.
Before changing anything
Check whether the computer actually uses Intel graphics.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Note the complete name of the Intel adapter.
- Right-click it, choose Properties, and open the Driver tab.
- Record the Driver Provider, Driver Date, and Driver Version.
Also check the Windows architecture:
- Open Settings.
- Select System, then About.
- Find System type under Device specifications.
A 32-bit application can use a 32-bit graphics component even when Windows itself is 64-bit. The important match is the complete driver package, not just the bitness of the missing file.
Fix 1: Reinstall the correct Intel or computer-maker graphics driver
Time needed: 10–20 minutes, plus a restart
This is the most likely fix for a missing, damaged, or incomplete iglhsip32.dll.
Use the computer manufacturer’s support page first. Laptop and prebuilt desktop makers often customize Intel graphics drivers for their firmware, display, power-management settings, and switchable-graphics configuration. If no suitable OEM package is available, use Intel’s Download Center or Intel Driver & Support Assistant. Intel’s assistant does not support every legacy graphics product, so manual hardware matching may be necessary.
- Write down the Intel adapter name from Device Manager.
- Identify the Windows edition and version in Settings > System > About.
- Download the graphics driver that explicitly supports that adapter and Windows version.
- Prefer a package that matches the system architecture shown under System type.
- Close games and other graphics applications.
- Run the downloaded installer.
- If the installer offers Execute a clean installation, select it.
- Complete the installation and restart Windows.
- Open Device Manager again and confirm that the Intel adapter has no warning icon.
- Start the application that previously reported the error.
Success means the application starts without the iglhsip32.dll message and the Intel adapter appears normally in Device Manager. If the installer refuses to run, reports unsupported hardware, or the error remains, do not force an unrelated package. Return to the OEM driver page and verify the exact GPU and Windows version.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesManually extracting the DLL from a driver archive should be a controlled recovery step only when the archive is the exact signed package for that computer. Installing the complete driver is safer because the DLL may depend on other files installed alongside it.

When hunting through OEM pages and comparing old packages, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver problems and identify outdated drivers; its full version performs the driver installation. It is optional, and for a specific Intel graphics failure the correctly matched OEM package remains the definitive choice.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall the affected application
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If only one older application fails while other graphics programs work, repair that application after restoring the driver.
For a Microsoft Store application:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the application.
- Select the three-dot menu, then Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Test the application.
- If it still fails, select Reset, if available.
For a traditional desktop program:
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select the program’s menu.
- Choose Uninstall, or choose Modify or Repair if the installer provides it.
- Restart Windows if requested.
- Reinstall the program from its developer’s legitimate installer.
- Test it again.
This step is useful when the application has its own damaged files or configuration. It should not replace the Intel graphics-driver installation when multiple programs report graphics-related errors.
If the application has a compatibility setting, right-click its shortcut, choose Properties, open Compatibility, and test an appropriate compatibility mode. Do not copy iglhsip32.dll beside the program unless you are recovering from the exact matching signed driver package and have a specific support reason.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5 minutes
Security software can remove or quarantine a legitimate driver file after a detection or false positive.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent actions involving
iglhsip32.dll, Intel graphics, or the graphics-driver installer. - Expand the entry and review its location and detection details.
Restore the file only when all of these are true:
- It came from the computer maker’s or Intel’s driver package.
- The package was downloaded from a legitimate source.
- The file is in a normal driver location.
- The security product provides no continuing malware warning.
- You have confirmed the package matches the GPU and Windows architecture.
If the file came from an unofficial download or an unfamiliar folder, do not restore it. Remove the questionable file and reinstall the complete graphics driver from a legitimate source. Microsoft’s guidance for Protection history explains how to review and manage these detections.
Fix 4: Roll back a recent graphics-driver change
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If the error began immediately after a driver update, use the previous driver when Windows still has it available.
Recommended Free Tools
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Double-click the Intel graphics device.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Roll Back Driver.
- Choose a reason and confirm.
- Restart Windows.
If Roll Back Driver is unavailable, use System Restore if a restore point predates the failure:
- Open Start and search for Create a restore point.
- Open the result.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point created before the driver change.
- Review the affected programs and complete the restore.
- Restart and test the application.
Rollback is appropriate for a newly introduced incompatibility. It is not a permanent substitute for installing a supported driver, particularly if the existing installation is incomplete.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
These commands repair Windows component-store and system-file corruption. They do not necessarily restore a missing third-party Intel DLL, but they are worthwhile when Windows Update, the driver installer, or other system files are also damaged.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes if User Account Control asks for permission.
- Run this command and wait for it to finish:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows after both commands complete.
- Retry the graphics-driver installation, then test the application.
If DISM reports that it cannot find source files, or SFC says it could not repair everything, restart and run the commands again while connected to the internet. If the commands complete successfully but iglhsip32.dll is still missing, return to the correct Intel or OEM driver package. SFC is not a guarantee that a third-party driver file will be restored.

Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is for DLLs that expose Windows registration routines. iglhsip32.dll is installed as part of a graphics-driver package; it is not normally a self-registering application component.
Running commands such as these is therefore not the normal repair:
regsvr32 iglhsip32.dll
regsvr32 C:WindowsSysWOW64iglhsip32.dll
They may produce a message that the entry point or registration routine is missing. That does not prove the file is defective. Reinstall the driver instead.
Why Visual C++, DirectX, and Windows Features are usually irrelevant
The filename identifies an Intel graphics-driver component, not a Visual C++ runtime or DirectX redistributable. Installing every runtime package can leave the actual driver problem untouched.
Likewise, enabling optional items under Settings > System > Optional features > More Windows features will not normally restore an Intel display-driver DLL. Only investigate a runtime or Windows feature when the complete error message specifically identifies that dependency or the application’s official requirements do so.
What may have caused the error
| Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|
| Incomplete or damaged graphics-driver installation | Install the correct OEM or Intel package, preferably with a clean installation |
| Wrong GPU, Windows version, or architecture | Match the package to the exact adapter and Windows system type |
| Recent driver update | Roll back the Intel driver or use System Restore |
| Antivirus quarantine | Review Protection history and restore only a verified driver file |
| System or component-store corruption | Run DISM, then SFC, and reinstall the graphics driver |
| Unofficial DLL replacement | Remove it and reinstall the complete legitimate package |
| One old application is damaged | Repair or reinstall that application after fixing the driver |
A message such as “The program can’t start because iglhsip32.dll is missing” means Windows could not load the requested component. “The specified module could not be found” can also mean that a dependency required by the DLL is missing. “Not designed to run on Windows” or “contains an error” points more toward a damaged, incompatible, or wrong-architecture binary than a missing Visual C++ package.

To inspect a file that already exists, right-click it, select Properties, and check the Details and Digital Signatures tabs. An unexpected location, missing signature, or file obtained from an unofficial source is a reason to remove it and reinstall the complete matching driver.
FAQ
Is iglhsip32.dll a Windows system DLL?
Generally no. It is associated with Intel graphics-driver packages. Windows may store the installed copy in a protected system directory, but that does not make it a built-in Windows component.
Should I download iglhsip32.dll separately?
No. Use the computer manufacturer’s graphics-driver package first, or the matching Intel package. Loose DLL downloads can be malicious, outdated, the wrong architecture, or unrelated to the installed GPU.
Why does a 32-bit file appear on 64-bit Windows?
A 32-bit application can require a 32-bit graphics component. Windows commonly stores 32-bit system files in C:WindowsSysWOW64 on a 64-bit installation.
Can I replace it with iglhsip64.dll?
No. The two files have different architectures and are not interchangeable. Install the complete driver package that matches the system.
Will reinstalling DirectX or Visual C++ fix it?
Usually not. Those packages do not normally supply this Intel graphics-driver DLL.
Does SFC restore iglhsip32.dll?
Not necessarily. SFC repairs protected Windows system files, while this file belongs to an Intel graphics-driver package. Use SFC and DISM for broader Windows corruption, then reinstall the graphics driver.
What is the safest first step?
Identify the Intel adapter in Device Manager, download the matching OEM driver, perform a clean installation if offered, restart, and test the application again.
