The clearest proposed improvements to WWE 2K25’s MyRISE are more control over a created wrestler’s career, choices with visible consequences, a story that fits the character players create, and less repetitive reward unlocking. These are recurring themes in reviews and individual player and editorial comments—not a measured fan consensus. MyRISE also has defenders: TechRadar praised its storyline, while GameSpot found value in its challenges and unlockables despite criticizing parts of the narrative.
What WWE 2K25’s MyRISE offers
WWE 2K Support describes MyRISE as one multi-gender storyline in which players control a custom Superstar from either the women’s or men’s division. Its premise follows Bayley, Kevin Owens, and other Superstars attempting to infiltrate NXT and take control of WWE. Officially listed features include personality choices that lead to specific storylines, new brawl environments, unlockable arenas and characters, and ally storylines involving Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, Seth Rollins, and others. WWE 2K’s feature description establishes what the mode is designed to include; it does not show how much those choices alter a full playthrough.

Combining the divisions differs from separate campaigns in some earlier games, but the available player comments do not establish that everyone prefers one format. Steam discussion includes both a positive reaction to character leeway and an argument that separate stories could have offered greater depth. Give players more control over a wrestler’s career
The most concrete request is for a career that can take different paths instead of following one narrow authored plot. Operation Sports writer Robert Preston wants the option to move between feuds, switch brands, pursue midcard championships, and wrestle as part of a tag team. That is one writer’s proposal, not proof of a universal demand, but it points to a clear design opportunity: let players choose what kind of WWE career they are building.

That could mean giving players meaningful routes through different divisions, title scenes, and rivalries, rather than limiting career progression to the demands of a single central story. Make choices change more than dialogue
WWE says personality choices lead to specific storylines, but players would benefit from being able to see the consequences in the career itself: which rivalries open up, how alliances shift, what match objectives appear, and whether the wrestler’s alignment changes. A Steam participant asking whether match results and character “style” remain flexible illustrates the kind of agency players want to understand. Another says there is some freedom over a character’s backstory. These comments do not establish the precise branching behavior of the shipped mode; they show why making the effects of a choice legible matters. Keep the story consistent with the created Superstar
A custom wrestler can feel less personal if the story imposes a personality or backstory that clashes with the player’s concept. One Steam commenter describes earlier MyRISE campaigns as too scripted and says the required character style and backstory could feel predetermined. Separately, GameSpot says WWE 2K25’s story shifts between in-character and out-of-character presentation in a way that can make its intended frame difficult to follow.

Reduce repetition when earning unlocks
Replay burden has also surfaced as a criticism. In 2026 reporting about WWE 2K26, MyRISE lead narrative designer Sean Conaway acknowledged seeing fatigue comments from players who felt they had to replay the WWE 2K25 storyline multiple times to get rewards. His comment was about the next game’s approach; it does not establish that every WWE 2K25 player needs a fixed number of runs.

Let a MyRISE career continue after the main story
More choice would matter even more if it lasted beyond the central plot. The proposed freedom to pursue different feuds, titles, and tag-team roles points toward a post-story season or continuing rivalry and title-chase system. Preserve the spectacle while improving the weak points
Reception is mixed, not uniformly negative. GameSpot calls MyRISE narrative-first and finds the story difficult to follow at points, while also recognizing its challenges and unlockables as worthwhile. TechRadar, by contrast, calls it the game’s best storyline. That divide suggests the goal need not be to remove the authored spectacle: it is to make the story easier to follow and give players more room to shape their own wrestler’s journey.
