The initial release was a Non-WHQL package, so it is best viewed as a targeted compatibility update rather than a guaranteed performance upgrade.
What Intel Arc driver 32.0.101.8425 adds
Intel’s release notes list two Game On titles:
- Arknights: Endfield
- Hytale
The “Arknights” reference means Arknights: Endfield, the 3D strategy/RPG spin-off—not the original mobile game Arknights. Intel’s Game On label indicates game-specific driver support or optimization. It does not, by itself, promise a particular frame-rate increase.

The official Intel release notes do not provide FPS comparisons, frame-time measurements, or a quantified performance uplift for either title.
Supported hardware
For the two Game On titles, Intel identifies the following product categories:
#1 Best Overall
- Next-Gen Intel Arc Graphics: Powered by Intel Arc A580 GPU with Intel Xe HPG microarchitecture, featuring 384 XMX engines for enhanced AI acceleration and content creation.
- High-Performance Memory: 8GB GDDR6 on a 256-bit interface running at 16 Gbps, delivering excellent bandwidth for 1440p gaming and creative workloads.
- Factory Overclocked: Engine clock set at 2000 MHz out of the box, providing optimized performance for smooth gameplay and multimedia tasks.
- Advanced Dual-Fan Cooling: Features a dual-fan design with striped axial fans and an ultra-fit heatpipe for efficient thermal management. 0dB Silent Cooling stops fans completely at low temperatures for silent operation.
- Durable Construction: Includes a stylish metal backplate for enhanced PCB rigidity and a premium aesthetic, backed by ASRock's Super Alloy components for long-term reliability.
- Intel Arc B-series discrete GPUs
- Intel Arc A-series discrete GPUs
- Intel Core Ultra processors with built-in Intel Arc graphics
This does not mean every Intel integrated GPU is covered. Laptop and compact-PC owners should confirm the exact processor model, because “Core Ultra” alone does not identify whether a system has the required integrated Arc graphics.
Additional fix: PRAGMATA SKETCHBOOK
Driver 32.0.101.8425 fixes a possible application crash when launching the PRAGMATA SKETCHBOOK demo under DirectX 12. Intel specifically lists Arc B-series graphics and Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors with built-in Arc graphics for this fix.
Neowin also reported a fix for incorrect variable-refresh-rate information in Intel’s Arc Control or settings software. That detail should be treated as secondary reporting rather than a confirmed item in the cited Intel release-note version.

- Professional Intel Arc Pro B70 GPU: Built on the Intel Xe2-HPG architecture, it features 32 Xe cores and 256 XMX engines, designed to accelerate AI, rendering, and complex visualization workloads.
- Massive 32GB GDDR6 VRAM: Equipped with 32GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, running at 19 Gbps, which allows for handling large AI models and complex datasets locally.
- High-Performance Engine Clock: Delivers an engine clock of 2540 MHz, providing the compute power needed for demanding professional applications and AI inference.
Known issues that remain
The update does not eliminate all graphics-driver problems. Intel’s listed Arc B-series issues include:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6: Under DirectX 12, certain water surfaces may show intermittent corruption.
- PugetBench for DaVinci Resolve Studio: The benchmark may crash intermittently. Intel recommends setting the PugetBench timeout slider to 1,500 seconds or higher and waiting for each test to finish.
In other words, Game On support for two games and a specific launch-crash fix do not make this an issue-free or universally necessary driver.
Non-WHQL versus WHQL: why the package name is confusing
The initial Intel release notes identify 32.0.101.8425 as a Non-WHQL driver. That matters for users who prioritize validation and deployment stability.

- Graphic card sag bracket
Intel later published a separate WHQL package listing 32.0.101.8425 alongside 32.0.101.8362. It is not identical in scope to the original Non-WHQL release: the later package also includes launch support for Core Ultra Series 3 systems with integrated Arc B390/B370 graphics and XeSS 3 Multi-Frame Generation.
Therefore, saying simply that “8425 is WHQL” or “8425 is Non-WHQL” can be misleading. The answer depends on which Intel package and release notes are being discussed.
When should Arc owners install it?
Install or test it if:
- You use an Arc A-series or B-series GPU, or qualifying Core Ultra integrated Arc graphics, and plan to play Arknights: Endfield or Hytale.
- You are affected by the documented PRAGMATA SKETCHBOOK DirectX 12 launch crash.
- You are comfortable testing an initially Non-WHQL driver and keeping a rollback option available.
Waiting is reasonable if:
- Your system is stable and you do not need either supported game or the documented crash fix.
- The computer is used for production, professional workloads, or critical benchmarking.
- You are particularly sensitive to regressions involving VRR, frame pacing, video playback, overlays, or multi-monitor setups.
- You use a laptop whose manufacturer provides a customized graphics driver.
For laptops, an OEM driver may be the safer first choice because the vendor can customize display switching, power management, and other parts of the graphics stack. Check the laptop manufacturer’s support page before replacing its driver with Intel’s generic package.

How to update safely
- Download the package from Intel’s official driver source, not an unofficial mirror.
- Confirm that the package matches your Windows edition and exact Intel graphics hardware.
- Record the current driver version and preserve a rollback route, such as a restore point or the previous installer.
- Install the driver and restart Windows.
- Verify the installed version in Device Manager or Intel’s graphics software.
- Test the game or application that motivated the update.
- If stability problems appear, return to the previous stable driver or use the installer’s clean-install option if it is offered.
Because later Intel releases exist—including the subsequent 32.0.101.8509 release documented by Intel—8425 should not be treated as the current driver for August 2026. Users seeking the newest compatibility fixes should check Intel’s current graphics-driver page rather than deliberately choosing this historical package.
Release-date clarification
There is a date discrepancy in the available documentation. Intel’s 32.0.101.8425 PDF is labeled January 20, 2025, while contemporary reports from Neowin and ITHome describe the release as new on January 20, 2026, with coverage published January 21. The package and feature list are clear, but the year should be treated cautiously rather than silently normalized.
Bottom line
Intel Arc driver 32.0.101.8425 is primarily a targeted compatibility release. It adds Game On support for Arknights: Endfield and Hytale, fixes a specific PRAGMATA SKETCHBOOK launch crash, and covers Arc A-series, B-series, and qualifying Core Ultra integrated Arc graphics. Install or test it if you need those changes; otherwise, stable systems can reasonably remain on their existing driver or move directly to a newer Intel release.
