1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIntel’s 32.0.101.8509 WHQL graphics driver, released February 13, 2026, extends XeSS 3 Multi-Frame Generation support beyond the Arc graphics integrated into Core Ultra Series 3 products. Intel lists Arc B-Series and A-Series desktop GPUs, plus integrated Arc graphics in Meteor Lake, Lunar Lake, and Arrow Lake H systems.
This is platform enablement, not a guarantee that every game will offer XeSS 3 MFG. The title must support a compatible XeSS implementation, or qualify for Intel’s driver-level override. The update is worth considering for Arc owners who want to test the feature or need one of its game fixes, but laptop and handheld users should weigh OEM-driver compatibility and the release’s known issues first.

What driver 32.0.101.8509 changes
The headline feature is “XeSS 3: Multi-Frame Generation Extended Platform Support.” Intel previously introduced the feature on newer Core Ultra Series 3 integrated Arc hardware. This release expands the listed platform support to additional Arc generations and integrated-graphics families.
XeSS technologies are separate functions:
- XeSS Super Resolution renders at a lower internal resolution and reconstructs a higher-resolution image.
- XeSS Frame Generation creates additional frames between traditionally rendered frames.
- XeSS 3 Multi-Frame Generation (MFG) can insert multiple generated frames between rendered frames, depending on the game and available mode.
Installing the driver does not automatically add MFG to every XeSS-enabled game. Native game support, the rendering API, anti-cheat configuration, and Intel’s eligibility rules for a driver-level override can all affect availability.

Supported Intel platforms
Intel’s release notes identify these platform groups:
| Platform | Architecture or family | Status in 32.0.101.8509 |
|---|---|---|
| Arc B-Series discrete | Battlemage | Extended XeSS 3 MFG support |
| Arc A-Series discrete | Alchemist | Extended XeSS 3 MFG support |
| Core Ultra Series 2 integrated Arc | Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake H | Extended support |
| Core Ultra integrated Arc | Meteor Lake | Extended support |
| Core Ultra Series 3 integrated Arc | Newer platform with initial support | Already supported; included in the broader platform rollout |
This is Intel’s family-level description, not an exhaustive SKU-by-SKU compatibility table. “Arc” should therefore not be read as a promise that every future, unusual, or OEM-specific configuration behaves identically.
WHQL does not mean universally trouble-free
WHQL certification means the Windows driver passed Microsoft’s Hardware Quality Labs certification process. It is a useful signing and compatibility signal, but it does not guarantee that every game is bug-free, that every laptop configuration has been validated, or that MFG will work in every title.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Intel’s own release notes list unresolved crashes and visual problems. The driver is also a generic Intel package: on laptops and handhelds, it may replace or supersede graphics software customized by the device manufacturer.
How to download and install the driver
- Check the GPU or processor model in Windows Device Manager, Intel Graphics Software, or a system-information utility.
- Download the package from Intel’s official Arc graphics driver page.
- Confirm that the system runs Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11, which are the operating systems listed by Intel.
- Close games and graphics-intensive applications.
- Run
gfx_win_101.8509.exe, follow the installer prompts, and restart Windows when requested. - Confirm the installed version in Intel Graphics Software or Device Manager.
- Test one known game before changing several graphics options at once.
The download page lists a package of approximately 1.3 GB. Intel gives this SHA-256 checksum:

Laptop and handheld warning
Before installing the generic package on a laptop or handheld, check the manufacturer’s support page and record the current driver version. OEM packages can include device-specific power, display, mux, hotkey, and performance tuning. If the Intel package causes a problem, reinstalling the OEM driver may restore those controls.
How to enable XeSS 3 MFG
When the game supports it natively
- Install 32.0.101.8509 or a later compatible driver.
- Open the game’s graphics, upscaling, or display settings.
- Enable XeSS.
- Enable Frame Generation or Multi-Frame Generation if the game exposes that option.
- Compare the result with XeSS Super Resolution alone and with frame generation disabled.
Labels and menu locations vary by game. Do not assume that a game offering XeSS Super Resolution also supports XeSS 3 MFG.
Using Intel Graphics Software
Intel Graphics Software may expose a XeSS 3 or Multi-Frame Generation override under per-game or global graphics settings for eligible hardware and titles. Menu names and feature placement can change, and the override will not necessarily appear for every game.

If the option is missing, possible explanations include an unsupported GPU or driver branch, an ineligible title, an incompatible API, an anti-cheat restriction, or a rendering path that Intel cannot override. Verify the game’s own settings and check whether Intel Graphics Software shows the feature for that specific profile.
What performance should you expect?
Intel’s release notes establish support, not a universal frame-rate increase. MFG raises the number of displayed frames by inserting generated images; it does not proportionally increase the number of fully rendered frames.
That distinction matters:
- Input responsiveness tracks the underlying rendered frame rate more closely than the final displayed-FPS counter.
- A higher displayed FPS can make camera motion look smoother without making controls feel equally responsive.
- Very low base frame rates can produce smooth-looking motion while leaving latency and frame pacing unsatisfactory.
- Fast camera movement, foliage, particles, disocclusion, and HUD elements can reveal ghosting, flicker, incorrect edges, or other interpolation artifacts.
MFG is generally more useful when the game already has a reasonably strong and consistent base frame rate. Treat any multiplier as a setting-dependent result, not a guaranteed property of the driver or GPU.

Use the same scene and compare:
- XeSS disabled;
- XeSS Super Resolution only;
- XeSS with regular frame generation;
- XeSS 3 MFG at each available multiplier.
Record average FPS, 1% lows or frame-time behavior, GPU utilization, and input latency where measurable. Also inspect ghosting, UI distortion, flicker, and image quality. Compare both the rendered and displayed frame rates rather than relying only on the largest counter.
Fixes and known issues
The release notes list fixes for:
- Ghost of Tsushima: terrain color corruption on DX12.
- Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord: launch crashes on DX11.
- Task Manager: inconsistent GPU 3D-utilization reporting on some Arc platforms.
Intel also lists possible crashes or visual issues in John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, Naraka: Bladepoint with ray tracing, The Finals, No Man’s Sky, Star Citizen, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Mafia: The Old Country, and Topaz Video AI.
For Arc B-Series systems, Intel specifically recommends driver 32.0.101.8331 or older for the Toxic Commando crash issue. That makes 32.0.101.8509 a feature update with compatibility trade-offs, not an automatic upgrade for every workload.
Community-reported examples
An Intel Community user reported flickering “X” patterns, ghosting, and motion artifacts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows on an MSI Claw A1M with a Core Ultra 5 135H and driver 32.0.101.8509. This is an individual report, not confirmation of a universal Intel defect; it nevertheless illustrates why MFG should be tested rather than enabled blindly.

Should you install 32.0.101.8509?
Arc A-Series desktop owners
Install if you specifically want to test XeSS 3 MFG, use a title that exposes the feature, or need one of the listed fixes. A-Series support does not make Alchemist performance equivalent to B-Series hardware, and older cards should be judged on native rendering performance, VRAM, power use, and game compatibility as well as MFG.
Arc B-Series desktop owners
The update is most relevant if you want the expanded MFG capability. However, check the known-issue list first—particularly if you play Toxic Commando, where Intel recommends 32.0.101.8331 or older for the listed crash.
Core Ultra laptop owners
Meteor Lake, Lunar Lake, and Arrow Lake H integrated Arc graphics are included in Intel’s expanded platform groups. The feature may be less useful than on a desktop card when thermal and power limits keep the base frame rate low. Check the laptop maker’s driver first and keep the previous package available for rollback.
Handheld owners
Handhelds face the same OEM-validation issue as laptops, plus tight power and thermal budgets. Test at the device’s normal power profile and judge latency and frame pacing, not just the displayed FPS. Stay with the OEM driver if stability and device controls matter more than experimenting with MFG.
Players of games on the known-issue list
Wait or remain on the current known-good driver unless the new feature or a specific fix is more important than the risk of regression. Document the current version before updating so you can roll back quickly.
If the installation or feature fails
- Restart Windows and check the installed version; a stalled-looking installer may have completed.
- Re-run the installer and use a repair or clean-install option if it is offered.
- If Windows immediately replaces the driver during troubleshooting, temporarily disconnecting from Windows Update can help preserve the package being tested.
- Roll back through Device Manager or reinstall the previous Intel or OEM package if a game or device regresses.
- For persistent conflicts, follow Intel’s cleanup guidance. Third-party display-driver cleanup tools are optional troubleshooting measures, not mandatory steps for an ordinary update.
Bottom line
Intel 32.0.101.8509 is significant because it extends XeSS 3 MFG platform support to Arc A-Series and B-Series discrete GPUs and to integrated Arc graphics in Meteor Lake, Lunar Lake, and Arrow Lake H systems. Install it when you have a qualifying Arc platform and a specific reason to use MFG or one of the fixes. Otherwise, especially on OEM-tuned laptops and handhelds or in games listed with known issues, waiting for a later validated driver may be the more sensible choice.
Once enabled, judge MFG by rendered frame rate, latency, frame pacing, and image artifacts—not by the final FPS counter alone. Source: Intel’s 32.0.101.8509 release notes.
