Intel’s 31.0.101.5534 Driver Adds Game On Support for F1 24 and MultiVersus

Intel’s 31.0.101.5534 graphics driver added Game On support for F1 24 and MultiVersus, but offered no official FPS figures. Find out which hardware qualified and whether the historical Non-WHQL driver is still worth installing.

Intel’s graphics driver 31.0.101.5534, released on May 28, 2024, added Intel Game On support for F1 24 and MultiVersus. The package was marked Non-WHQL and targeted Intel Arc A-series graphics cards and Intel Core Ultra processors with built-in Intel Arc graphics.

That wording does not establish a specific frame-rate increase. Intel’s release notes list launch and compatibility support, but provide no FPS uplift, benchmark settings, or game-specific performance percentage.

What Intel’s Game On support means

Intel uses “Game On” to identify driver support prepared for a new or newly supported game. That work can involve compatibility changes, game profiles, shader handling, or performance tuning. However, the 31.0.101.5534 release notes do not quantify the effect for either title.

The accurate claim is therefore that Intel added official driver support for F1 24 and MultiVersus—not that every supported Intel GPU was guaranteed to run either game faster.

  • High-Performance Memory: 8GB GDDR6 on a 256-bit interface running at 16 Gbps, delivering excellent bandwidth for 1440p gaming and creative workloads.
  • Factory Overclocked: Engine clock set at 2000 MHz out of the box, providing optimized performance for smooth gameplay and multimedia tasks.
  • Advanced Dual-Fan Cooling: Features a dual-fan design with striped axial fans and an ultra-fit heatpipe for efficient thermal management. 0dB Silent Cooling stops fans completely at low temperatures for silent operation.
  • Durable Construction: Includes a stylish metal backplate for enhanced PCB rigidity and a premium aesthetic, backed by ASRock's Super Alloy components for long-term reliability.

Which hardware was covered?

Intel’s release notes associate the Game On entry with:

  • Intel Arc A-series discrete GPUs
  • Intel Core Ultra processors with built-in Intel Arc graphics

This should not be read as identical support for every Intel integrated GPU. Intel recommends checking the complete release notes or ReadMe for platform compatibility rather than relying on the driver number alone. Its driver-version guidance also recommends comparing the full seven-digit build number.

What the release notes do not claim

The May 2024 package does not provide:

  • FPS or frame-time improvement figures
  • Test resolutions, presets, or hardware configurations
  • Separate results for Arc A580, A750, A770, laptop Arc GPUs, or Core Ultra graphics
  • A specific F1 24 or MultiVersus bug fix
  • Game-specific changes to ray tracing, XeSS, HDR, frame generation, or upscaling

Later game updates, Windows versions, and driver revisions can also change performance independently. Any before-and-after test should record the GPU, processor, Windows version, game build, resolution, preset, upscaling settings, and frame-generation settings.

Arc A-series graphics

  • Possible intermittent crashes in No Rest for the Wicked with DX11
  • Possible crashes in Enshrouded with Vulkan
  • Flickering corruption in Doom Eternal with Vulkan
  • Incomplete PugetBench Extended Preset runs
  • Topaz Video AI export errors with some enhancement models

Core Ultra processors with built-in Arc graphics

  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora crashes during loading
  • Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection crashes while loading into gameplay
  • PugetBench failures
  • Blender crashes in some scenes and memory configurations
  • Topaz Video AI benchmark and export errors
  • VSync may remain enabled after Endurance Gaming is disabled; Intel’s workaround was to relaunch the application

Intel also documented an Arc Control problem in which scheduled driver updates could intermittently fail.

Should you install this driver today?

For most users, no. Version 31.0.101.5534 is a historical, Non-WHQL package. Intel’s current Arc graphics download page lists the newer 32.0.101.8974 WHQL Certified package and provides access to historical drivers.

Use 31.0.101.5534 when you need to reproduce a May 2024 benchmark, investigate a problem tied to that exact driver, or test the original launch-support state on qualifying Arc hardware. Otherwise, install the current package appropriate for your GPU, processor, and Windows edition.

Laptop owners should first check their manufacturer’s support page. Intel warns that its generic driver can overwrite OEM customizations, including platform-specific display, power-management, sleep, HDR, or switchable-graphics behavior. If the manufacturer requires its own package, use that driver instead.

How to update safely

  1. Identify the exact Intel GPU or processor graphics device.
  2. Check Intel’s current driver page and the release notes for hardware and Windows compatibility.
  3. For a laptop or prebuilt PC, compare the generic Intel package with the manufacturer’s driver.
  4. Save the current installer or note the previous working driver before upgrading.
  5. Install the selected package and restart Windows.
  6. Confirm the complete driver version in Device Manager or Intel’s graphics software.
  7. Test the game using the same settings and game build as before.

If the update causes problems, reboot once, then reinstall the previous known-good Intel or OEM driver. For game crashes, temporarily disable overlays, ray tracing, frame generation, and other advanced options before rolling back. On laptops, return to the OEM package if display switching, power management, external monitors, HDR, or sleep behavior becomes unreliable.

Important edge cases

On laptops with switchable graphics, Windows may launch the game on integrated graphics instead of the intended Arc adapter. Desktop systems with both an Arc card and integrated graphics can create the same testing mistake. Verify which adapter the game is using before attributing any result to the driver.

A newer driver is also not automatically better for every workload: it may improve support for one title while exposing a regression elsewhere. Conversely, “Game On” support does not guarantee a visible FPS gain at every resolution, preset, or GPU.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Intel’s 31.0.101.5534 release added Game On support for F1 24 and MultiVersus on Arc A-series and qualifying Core Ultra Arc graphics, but Intel published no evidence of a universal performance increase. Treat it as a historical launch-support driver; for a new installation, prefer the current WHQL or OEM package.
