If this assignment refers to KRAFTON’s inZOI, the smoothest starting point is the game’s first-launch hardware selection, followed by Performance upscaling or a lower resolution scale, ray tracing turned off, and selective reductions to shader, background-detail and shadow quality. That combination prioritizes frame-time consistency without forcing every visual option to its lowest value. Your best settings still depend on your GPU, processor, display resolution and tolerance for softer images. This is an inZOI-specific guide; other open-world life simulations use different menus and performance limits.
At a glance
| Name | Best for | Key spec | Platforms | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Performance-first | Highest frame-rate priority | Performance upscaling, ray tracing off, Medium preset (KRAFTON’s March 2025 example) | Windows PC | Oct 2026 |
| Balanced | Keeping detail while solving uneven play | First-launch auto-selected settings, then lower resolution scale or individual detail options | Windows PC | Oct 2026 |
| Image-quality-first | Sharper output and richer lighting | Quality or Off upscaling; ray tracing only when the system has adequate headroom | Windows PC | Oct 2026 |
What are the best PC graphics settings for a smooth inZOI experience?
Start with the settings selected automatically on the first launch. They are a useful baseline because the game chooses among hardware tiers rather than assuming one preset works for every PC. If movement or camera pans are uneven, change the settings in this order: select DLSS, FSR or XeSS in Performance mode; reduce resolution scale or enable dynamic resolution; disable ray tracing; then lower shader, background-detail and shadow quality. Test each change in the same demanding part of your city so you can tell which adjustment helped.

KRAFTON describes four hardware tiers and eight graphics/performance combinations. Its March 2025 performance-oriented example paired Performance upscaling, ray tracing off and a Medium preset. That example is a starting point from that guidance, not a current-version frame-rate guarantee. There is no universal “best” preset: a 1080p player with a strong GPU may prefer sharper output, while a 4K player may need aggressive upscaling to keep frame times stable.
How do I make inZOI run smoother?
Use this sequence instead of dropping every option to Very Low immediately. It preserves visual quality where possible and makes each trade-off easy to reverse.

- Keep the first-launch selection as your baseline. Record the selected preset and display resolution before changing anything. If you later need to restore a known state, you can return to that baseline rather than guessing.
- Choose an upscaler or reduce resolution scale. If your PC offers DLSS, FSR or XeSS, start with its Performance mode when GPU load is the problem. If no suitable upscaler is available, lower the resolution scale. Dynamic resolution is an alternative that adjusts internal resolution to protect frame-rate consistency; it does not have to be enabled at the same time as every other reduction.
- Turn ray tracing off. KRAFTON says disabling ray tracing cuts GPU work from lighting calculations and raises FPS. This is usually a larger smoothness lever than reducing a minor environment-detail setting.
- Lower shader quality. Shader work affects the complexity of materials and effects. Reduce it one level, revisit the same demanding scene, and keep it higher if the visual difference is more noticeable than the performance benefit.
- Reduce background detail. Dense scenery and distant objects can add work while you move through a large neighborhood. Lowering this option can provide headroom without changing the entire image.
- Lower shadow quality. Shadows are another targeted way to reduce GPU demand. Try one step at a time before switching to a global Low or Very Low preset.
- Use Very Low or Low only when targeted changes are insufficient. KRAFTON notes that these presets improve performance but reduce texture and effect quality. They are a practical fallback for systems that remain uneven after the earlier steps.
Make one adjustment at a time and allow the scene to settle. A setting that helps while standing indoors may not solve drops during a crowded outdoor simulation, so judge the result where your frame rate normally suffers.
DLSS, FSR or XeSS: which upscaling mode should I use for better FPS?
For a smoothness-first setup, use whichever of DLSS, FSR or XeSS your installation supports in Performance mode. The available data does not establish a universal winner among them, and the available option depends on your graphics hardware and game build. Performance mode renders fewer internal pixels and reconstructs the output, trading some fine detail for lower GPU work.
Performance mode
Choose Performance when the GPU is the limiting component or when you need the largest frame-time cushion. Thin geometry, foliage and distant signage can look softer, especially at a low display resolution, so inspect the image at your normal viewing distance before deciding whether the trade is acceptable.
Quality mode
Quality upscaling keeps more internal detail and is the sensible middle ground when your frame rate is close to stable. It costs more GPU time than Performance mode, so move back to Performance if city travel or camera rotation still produces visible hitching.
Off
Off preserves native-resolution rendering but carries the highest pixel workload. It is appropriate when sharpness matters more than extra headroom and your hardware already maintains even frame times at the chosen resolution.
Dynamic resolution
Dynamic resolution changes internal resolution as workload changes, helping avoid sudden drops in a busy scene. Because it can make sharpness vary from moment to moment, compare it with a fixed resolution scale and keep the option that feels more consistent to you.

Should I turn ray tracing off?
Yes, if smoothness is your priority. KRAFTON’s official settings guidance states that disabling ray tracing reduces the GPU load from lighting calculations and raises FPS. Turning it off removes ray-traced lighting effects but leaves the rest of the rendering pipeline available for higher texture, object or shadow settings.

Ray tracing can remain on for a quality-first profile when your system has substantial headroom at its target resolution. Change it only after establishing a stable baseline, because it can amplify drops that are not obvious in a quiet interior. KRAFTON also documents a Fallback Mesh option intended for some high-end situations, but warns that it may cause crashes on high-end systems. Treat that option as a troubleshooting experiment rather than a universal performance fix, and revert it if stability worsens.
Which settings should I lower before sacrificing every visual option?
Lower shader, background-detail and shadow quality first. These controls directly target effect complexity, distant-scene workload and shadow calculations, allowing you to keep more of the texture and overall preset quality than an immediate switch to Very Low.
| Setting | What reducing it changes | When to try it |
|---|---|---|
| Shader quality | Less complex materials and effects | When effects-heavy scenes cause GPU pressure |
| Background detail | Less distant environment and scene complexity | When movement through large neighborhoods is uneven |
| Shadow quality | Lower-cost shadow calculations | When lighting-heavy scenes produce drops |
| Texture and effect quality via Very Low/Low preset | Broad reduction in image detail | When targeted changes do not provide enough headroom |
Apply these changes incrementally. Lowering several options together makes it difficult to identify the cause of an improvement and may leave image quality worse than necessary.

Resolution is one of the primary performance levers because the GPU must shade every rendered pixel. KRAFTON’s March 2025 explanation uses 4K versus 1080p to illustrate that 4K requires about four times as many rendered pixels as 1080p. That is a rounded comparison intended to explain workload, not a promise of a particular FPS ratio.
Set your target display resolution first, then choose upscaling or resolution scale. A 4K monitor does not require native 4K rendering if stable motion is more important than maximum sharpness; Performance upscaling or dynamic resolution can reduce internal workload while still outputting to the display’s resolution. Conversely, a 1080p display may allow Quality upscaling or native rendering on the same hardware.
What preset should I use for my PC?
Use the game’s hardware selection as a guide, not as a guarantee of a fixed frame rate. KRAFTON divides systems into four hardware tiers and provides performance-oriented and graphics-oriented combinations for those tiers. The official examples are categories for choosing settings; they are not comparative benchmark results.
Performance-first systems
Use Performance upscaling, ray tracing off and a Medium-style preset as the practical starting point described in KRAFTON’s March 2025 guidance. If play remains uneven, lower resolution scale, then shader, background detail and shadows.

Mid-range or mixed-priority systems
Keep the first-launch selection and use Quality upscaling if frame times are already close to stable. Move to Performance mode before cutting every detail option when outdoor simulation causes drops.
High-end systems
Begin with the auto-selected settings and native or Quality output if the image is your priority. Ray tracing can stay enabled only when the resulting frame pacing is acceptable; it is an optional visual feature, not a requirement for playing the simulation.
What PC hardware does inZOI require?
KRAFTON’s live Windows requirements list 12 GB of system RAM and 40 GB of SSD storage at minimum. The recommended figures are 16 GB of RAM and 60 GB of SSD storage. These are system-memory and storage requirements, not VRAM targets.
| Tier | System RAM | Storage | Graphics examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 12 GB | 40 GB SSD | RTX 2060 with 6 GB VRAM or RX 5600 XT with 6 GB VRAM |
| Recommended | 16 GB | 60 GB SSD | RTX 3070 with 8 GB VRAM or RX 6800 XT with 16 GB VRAM |
The listed capacities describe the requirement published by KRAFTON, not a guarantee that the same amount of free space will remain sufficient after future updates. KRAFTON also cautions that the game may not run properly on integrated graphics or on some low-spec mobile GPUs. If your hardware is below the listed baseline, settings changes may not remove crashes, missing assets or severe stutter.
Can an SSD or more RAM fix stuttering?
An SSD can improve map loading and texture streaming, according to KRAFTON, but the available information does not establish a measured increase in average FPS from changing drives. Keep the game on an SSD with enough free capacity for the installation and updates, and verify that any replacement drive uses an interface your PC supports.
Insufficient memory can contribute to drops when the simulation, assets and other applications compete for RAM. Moving from below the official 12 GB minimum toward the 16 GB recommended amount addresses a documented system requirement, but it does not replace graphics tuning when the GPU is the bottleneck. Close unnecessary applications and check memory usage before assuming a graphics option is solely responsible.
How should I compare settings without misleading myself?
Compare settings at your own display resolution and in the same demanding scene. A useful routine is to load a busy neighborhood, perform the same camera movement, and observe whether motion remains even after the scene has finished loading. Change one option, repeat the route, and keep notes on visual compromises rather than relying on a single quiet interior.

This process helps separate an average-frame-rate issue from a frame-time or streaming issue. It is a repeatable decision method, not a published benchmark and not a claim that any setting delivers a fixed FPS on every PC.
What optional tweaks come from the community?
A player-authored guide revised for version 0.10.1 discusses options such as an FPS cap, frame generation and population-density changes. These can be useful troubleshooting ideas, but the author’s hardware and preferences cannot be generalized to every system. Try them only after the official settings workflow is stable, and undo one change at a time if input response, image quality or stability becomes worse.
FPS caps
A cap can reduce swings between very high and very low frame rates, particularly when your PC frequently hits a workload ceiling. Choose a cap that your system can sustain rather than chasing a number the hardware reaches only in empty scenes.
Frame generation
Frame generation may increase displayed motion smoothness on compatible hardware, but it can alter latency and artifact behavior. Treat it as an optional layer after base rendering is stable, not as a substitute for lowering an overloaded GPU setting.
Population density
Reducing simulated population can lower the amount of activity the CPU and GPU must process in crowded areas. Because it changes the life-sim experience itself, reserve it for systems that remain uneven after resolution, ray tracing and targeted detail changes.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Why is the game still stuttering after I lower settings?
First determine whether the problem is GPU load, system memory, storage streaming or hardware below the official baseline. If Performance upscaling and ray tracing off do not help, check RAM usage, confirm the game is installed on an SSD, and compare your hardware with KRAFTON’s minimum examples. Integrated graphics and some low-spec mobile GPUs may not run the game properly regardless of preset.
Stutter that appears only while entering a new district may be related to loading or texture streaming rather than a setting that affects every frame. Stutter that persists during a repeatable camera route points more strongly to sustained rendering or simulation load. Use the same scene and one-change-at-a-time method before making broad reductions.

What are the most common graphics-setting mistakes?
- Changing everything at once: You lose the ability to identify which option solved the problem.
- Assuming native resolution is mandatory: Resolution scale and upscaling are legitimate ways to keep the display output while reducing internal GPU work.
- Leaving ray tracing on by default: It adds lighting workload when smoothness is the priority.
- Confusing VRAM with system RAM: KRAFTON’s 12 GB and 16 GB figures refer to system memory, while the named GPU examples include their own VRAM capacities.
- Expecting a new SSD to raise FPS by a known amount: KRAFTON connects SSDs with loading and texture streaming, not a guaranteed average-FPS increase.
- Treating a player guide as a universal preset: Community advice reflects the author’s version, hardware and preferences.
- Ignoring the display target: The right balance for 1080p is not automatically right for 1440p or 4K.
How often should these settings be checked?
Graphics menus and hardware requirements can change with patches. KRAFTON’s cited settings articles date from March 2025, while the live requirements page was checked in October 2026. Recheck the current requirements and menu labels after major updates; the historical Medium, Performance-upscaling example should not be presented as an October 2026 benchmark.
How we picked these recommendations
- Official KRAFTON guidance was prioritized over player preferences.
- Resolution scale and upscaling were treated as primary levers because they directly change rendered-pixel workload.
- Ray tracing was separated from general quality because KRAFTON specifically identifies its lighting calculations as GPU work.
- Shader, background-detail and shadow reductions were ranked ahead of a global Very Low preset to preserve more image quality.
- Hardware requirements were kept distinct from performance claims: listed RAM, SSD and GPU examples describe compatibility tiers, not guaranteed frame rates.
- No fixed FPS promise or percentage uplift is attached to any setting because no independent current-version controlled benchmark establishes one.
What is the practical order for a smooth setup?
Keep the first-launch baseline, select Performance upscaling or lower resolution scale, disable ray tracing, and then reduce shader, background detail and shadows one at a time. Use Very Low or Low only when those targeted changes are not enough. Check RAM, SSD storage and GPU compatibility before buying hardware, and treat community options such as caps or frame generation as optional troubleshooting rather than universal prescriptions.

Does inZOI support all three upscalers on every graphics card?
No. DLSS, FSR and XeSS availability depends on the hardware and the game build. Use the option exposed by your installation; the guidance does not establish that one vendor’s upscaler is universally superior.
Is 4K rendering always a bad choice for a life simulation?
Not necessarily. Native 4K can be reasonable on a system with enough headroom, but it requires roughly four times the rendered pixels of 1080p, so Quality or Performance upscaling may be the better compromise when city scenes become uneven.
Should I enable dynamic resolution and an upscaler together?
They are alternatives for controlling internal resolution, not mandatory companions. Try each approach separately first so you can judge whether you prefer steadier motion from dynamic scaling or the more consistent sharpness of a fixed upscaler mode.
How much free disk space should I leave beyond the listed requirement?
KRAFTON lists 40 GB minimum and 60 GB recommended SSD capacity, but those figures do not guarantee room for future patches or temporary update files. Leave additional space according to your update habits rather than treating the published capacity as a permanent free-space target.
