On October 16, 2024, IO Interactive announced that its third-party publishing division, IOI Partners, would publish and distribute Build A Rocket Boy’s MindsEye globally. GamesBeat described it as IO Interactive’s first external publishing partnership. The announced services included marketing, localization, distribution, quality assurance, and game support. The partnership was presented as more than a one-time release arrangement: IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak said the companies saw common ground in delivering an experience and growing its universe over time, comparing that ambition to IO Interactive’s World of Assassination. Those were promotional remarks made at the announcement, not a guarantee of a particular release or post-launch plan.
Who publishes MindsEye now?
The available reporting establishes that IOI Partners is no longer the publisher, but does not establish who, if anyone, replaced it. Game Developer reported on September 16, 2026, that IOI Partners had stepped down as publisher earlier in 2026. Its report did not confirm a successor. What happened to Build A Rocket Boy?
Build A Rocket Boy’s official homepage says administrators Allister Manson and Mark Harper of Opus Restructuring LLP were appointed to Build A Rocket Boy Ltd. on September 23, 2026, and to Build A Rocket Boy Games Ltd. on October 2, 2026. The company’s Terms of Use, effective March 25, 2026, identifies MindsEye as an interactive video game and lists Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, and PlayStation among third-party platforms. That is not confirmation that the game is currently listed, purchasable, or supported on each platform. Why did IO Interactive take on MindsEye?
IO Interactive said it was interested in the game’s vision and the possibility of building an evolving world together with Build A Rocket Boy. At the October 2024 announcement, Abrak called the prospect exciting and pointed to similarities with IO Interactive’s own approach to the World of Assassination. Build A Rocket Boy game director Leslie Benzies described MindsEye as the studio’s first premium triple-A game and an “ever-evolving universe.” These statements explain the partners’ stated ambitions at signing; they should not be read as evidence that every planned element was delivered.

Abrak also reflected on IO Interactive’s status as an independent AAA developer, calling independence a rare position amid industry layoffs. That comment was part of the same 2024 interview context, not an explanation of the later publisher change.
