The developer also warned players against third-party listings: it said those plushies were unlicensed and that some sellers used AI-generated promotional artwork.
What did the developer actually announce?
On May 14, 2025, Sandfall Interactive warned players about websites claiming to sell Esquie plushies. In its statement, as quoted by GameSpot, the studio said: “Any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed. Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources.”

The developer added: “We are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can.” That is an expression of interest, not a production or release confirmation. Game Informer’s May 15, 2025 report likewise describes an official plush as something the team was considering.
Can you buy an official Esquie plush now?
No confirmed official Esquie plush listing, retailer, or launch is established by the available reports. Sandfall’s official merchandise page includes products and merchandise partners, but its accessible Esquie Plush item page is a placeholder rather than a usable product listing. It should not be treated as proof that the plush is available to order.

Sandfall’s warning applies specifically to the third-party websites it addressed: it said their Esquie plushies were not officially licensed and advised against buying from them. A listing’s use of Esquie artwork or the game’s name does not, by itself, establish that it is authorized.
Who is “that” character?
Esquie is a companion in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The game’s official character page describes him as a mythical being whose adventures are told to children in Lumière. Legends say he can fly through the heavens and dive beneath the sea; he is also described as lazy.

The official merchandise page names products and partners across categories including apparel, a beret, vinyl, collectibles, and other licensed goods. The team’s 2026 anniversary post specifically documents an Orcival striped shirt and a Le Béret Français beret collaboration. Those items are separate from the unconfirmed Esquie plush; availability and stock can vary.
The game also has physical editions, which are a separate, documented product option. The official Collector’s Edition page covers physical editions and regional distribution.

No release date or price was established in the cited announcement coverage. Sandfall’s phrase “looking into making” does not say whether the plush has entered production, when it might be announced, or which retailers or regions would carry it. Until the studio or an authorized seller publishes a proper product listing, treat any claimed date or price as unverified.
