BrokenLore: MIKI-CHAN is part of the same connected universe as the other BrokenLore games, but the developer says each story is designed to stand on its own. You do not need to play a specific earlier entry first. The release-order guide below is a practical way to follow the series; it is not a complete story chronology.
How MIKI-CHAN connects to the BrokenLore universe
Serafini Productions describes BrokenLore as fragmented storytelling: each game has its own characters and themes, while attentive players can connect details across the entries. As CEO and founder Sebastiano Serafini put it, “each game can stand on its own and explore its own characters and themes, but players who are curious enough to look deeper can gradually connect those fragments.” (Xbox Wire, September 10, 2026.)

That makes MIKI-CHAN a connected entry rather than a direct continuation that requires a particular game beforehand. Miki-chan also appears in BrokenLore: DON’T LIE; in MIKI-CHAN, she becomes the central virtual assistant in Kazuaki’s story.
What MIKI-CHAN is about
The game is a first-person psychological horror story about Kazuaki, a Japanese student preparing for the Teidai entrance exam and hoping to win over the girl he loves. He finds a USB drive containing a study-support program and meets Miki-chan, a virtual assistant whose jealousy turns possessive. (Steam.)
According to the Epic Games Store listing, Miki-chan takes control of a simulation and traps Kazuaki in unstable school environments. He can use the Rewriter to alter parts of those environments, defend himself, and solve puzzles. Epic also describes the game as revealing a new piece of the mystery surrounding BrokenLore and Elysium.
BrokenLore release order
This list follows release dates, not a confirmed chronological order of events in the stories. Dates can differ by region; for LOW, the announcement gave February 21 in Japan Standard Time and February 20 Pacific Time.

The available official material does not establish a complete chronological order for every game. The clear exception to assuming release order equals story order is FOLLOW: Steam calls it a prequel to UNFOLLOW. That relationship does not establish where every other entry fits.
If you only want to start with MIKI-CHAN
You can start with MIKI-CHAN without first completing another entry. That follows the studio’s stated approach of making each game stand on its own; playing DON’T LIE first may give you context for Miki-chan’s earlier appearance, but it is not presented as a prerequisite.
When does BrokenLore: MIKI-CHAN come out?
MIKI-CHAN is unreleased. Steam currently gives no exact date and lists it as “To be announced.” Coverage of the October 1, 2026 announcement reported a 2027 release window for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, including Steam and Epic Games Store; treat 2027 as a reported window, not a confirmed launch date.
