What happened to the 12% PC pre-order offer?
The original headline described a limited-time promotion, but its retailer, region, original price and end date are not established by reliable information. It should not be treated as a live discount. Civilization VII launched worldwide on February 11, 2025, according to 2K’s game page and the launch announcement.
For a current deal, check the price and any sale end date shown directly on the store page for your region. The official PC purchase options listed by 2K are Steam and Epic Games Store; neither source establishes the old 12% pre-order promotion as active.
Where can you buy Civilization VII on PC?
The PC editions listed on Steam and the Epic Games Store are digital only, according to the official edition FAQ. Compare the edition contents and any separately sold add-ons before purchasing; do not assume every add-on is part of the base game.

Which edition should you compare?
Both stores list a base game alongside higher editions. Steam lists Standard, Deluxe and Settler’s editions; Epic lists the base game, Deluxe and Settler’s editions, along with separately sold downloadable add-ons. The official FAQ says Deluxe and Settler’s include additional content, and Settler’s bundles multiple collections and packs. Exact contents can differ, so use the current list on the store you choose.

The FAQ also mentions a physical Collector’s Edition with themed collectibles. That does not establish that it includes a PC game disc or that it is currently available from a particular retailer.

What kind of game is Civilization VII?
Civilization VII is a turn-based strategy game from Firaxis Games, published by 2K. Its campaign spans three Ages—Antiquity, Exploration and Modern—and gives you choices at Age transitions: keep your civilization, move to a new one or hybridize. Leader selection is separate from civilization selection. The stores also describe settlement growth, wonders, technological advancement, diplomacy and combat, with solo and multiplayer play.
The franchise had sold more than 73 million copies by the 2025 launch announcement; that figure refers to the Civilization franchise, not Civilization VII alone.

What to check before buying the PC version
- System requirements: Steam lists a Windows minimum of 8 GB RAM and 20 GB storage. Those two figures are not a complete compatibility check; review the full current requirements, especially the processor and graphics card, on the Steam listing.
- Online play: Multiplayer requires an internet connection and a 2K Account. Steam says single-player does not require a linked account.
- Regional price and sale terms: Check the live listing for your region, including the price and any stated sale end date. Store pricing and offers can change.
- Included content: Compare the selected edition with any add-ons you want, so you do not pay twice for content already bundled.
