DeadPoly is not permanently free on Steam. The polygonal zombie survival game from TFL Games had a limited free-access weekend that ended on October 26, 2026. On October 27, Steam lists it as a paid game at $9.99, with a temporary 42% discount bringing the price to $5.79 through October 30. The promotion let people try the game without converting it to a free-to-play title or granting permanent ownership.

What is DeadPoly?

DeadPoly is a polygon-style arcade zombie survival looter shooter built around scavenging, crafting and deciding how much risk to take. TFL Games describes survival as the only mandatory objective; base construction, quests and other activities are optional ways to support a run.

The game combines a character-creation system with a broad survival sandbox. You can gather wood, stone and metal, search for loot, craft hundreds of items, modify guns with attachments and establish or fortify a base. Hunger and thirst meters make supplies part of combat preparation rather than a cosmetic feature.

  • Day/night and weather cycles that change the feel of exploration
  • Vehicles for moving through the world
  • Farming, hunting and fishing as additional sources of supplies
  • Vaulting, collecting and a grid-based inventory
  • Leveling and questing alongside looter-shooter combat

Is DeadPoly still free on Steam?

No. The October 2026 offer was a time-limited Steam free weekend, reported as running through October 26. Players who only accessed the game during that event do not keep permanent access unless they purchase it.

Steam prices and promotions can change by region and date, so check the store page immediately before buying. The free-weekend wording should not be read as a permanent free-to-play conversion.

How long did the DeadPoly free weekend last?

The promotion ended on October 26, 2026. That date marks the end of the free-access window, not a deadline for keeping a copy you never purchased. If the game is still shown in your library after the event, launch rights can disappear when the promotional entitlement expires.

Can you play DeadPoly with friends?

Yes. DeadPoly supports solo play, online co-op, online PvP and server-based multiplayer, so you can choose whether other players are allies, opponents or absent altogether.

Solo and cooperative play

A solo run lets you control the pace of looting, base work and quests without coordinating a group. Online co-op is suited to players who want to split gathering, defend a shared position or tackle danger together; a USB gaming headset with a microphone is optional equipment for voice communication, not a game requirement.

Competitive and server-based options

Online PvP adds the possibility that another player is a threat while you are carrying supplies or returning to a base. Server-based multiplayer can provide a more persistent social setting, but the available data does not establish server sizes, hosting costs or moderation rules, so those details should be checked in the current Steam documentation.

What do you do in DeadPoly?

The central loop is to leave a defensible location, search for materials and equipment, survive encounters and return with enough resources to improve your next outing. Crafting and base building turn gathered materials into storage, defenses and equipment, while weapon attachments let you tune firearms for different situations.

  • SILLY YET STRATEGIC - Each zombie has 1 or more traits (flying, invisible, climbing, bulletproof, fireproof, timid, exploding) that you must overcome in order to defeat it. For example, a flamethrower is a great defense on your farm until a fireproof or invisible zombie comes along! So choose your defenses wisely and watch out for various events that can change the course of the game!
  • CAN YOU SURVIVE THE BOK-BOK-ALYPSE? Or will the zombie chickens prevail?

Managing survival needs

Hunger and thirst add logistical pressure to exploration. Farming, hunting and fishing broaden the ways to obtain food, while vehicles can shorten travel across a large scavenging route. Weather and the day/night cycle make timing part of a plan: a trip that is safe in daylight may be harder when visibility and threats change.

Progression and optional objectives

Leveling, quests, collecting and vaulting provide goals beyond simply staying alive. Because the developer frames those systems as optional, players can focus on building, combat, exploration or a mixture instead of following a single campaign path.

What PC does DeadPoly require?

Steam’s published minimum specification calls for a Windows 10 PC with a mid-range processor and graphics card from the 2016-era performance class. These are minimum requirements, not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution or Steam Deck experience.

Component Minimum requirement
Operating system Windows 10
Processor Intel i5-6600K or Ryzen 3 1300-class CPU
Memory 8 GB RAM
Graphics AMD RX 580 or Nvidia GTX 1060-class GPU
Graphics API DirectX 12
Storage 10 GB available space

Allow additional free disk space for updates and save backups. If your hardware is close to the minimum, reduce resolution and visual settings first and treat performance as system-dependent rather than guaranteed.

Is DeadPoly still in Early Access?

Yes. Steam lists January 12, 2027 as the planned Early Access exit date. TFL Games says it chose Early Access because core features are still being developed while the game is already playable.

That status matters when deciding whether to buy: systems, balance, content and technical behavior can change before the planned full release. Players who prefer a finished, stable feature set should wait for a later milestone; players comfortable with an evolving survival sandbox can use the current discount to start earlier.

How well is DeadPoly reviewed?

Steam shows 79% positive from 4,201 English-language reviews and 86% positive from 157 recent reviews, figures recorded in 2026. Review percentages are snapshots that move as more players submit feedback, and they do not predict performance on every PC or the quality of a particular multiplayer server.

Should you buy DeadPoly after the free weekend?

Buy it now if you want a flexible zombie sandbox with solo, co-op and PvP choices, extensive crafting and base systems, and you accept Early Access changes. The $5.79 daily-deal price listed through October 30 is lower than the regular $9.99 price, but the free weekend itself has ended. Wait if permanent free access, a completed game or independently verified performance results are essential to your decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the DeadPoly free weekend give me the game permanently?

No. A free-access event grants play time only for its stated window. Permanent access requires purchasing the game, unless a later promotion uses different terms.

Is DeadPoly single-player or multiplayer?

It supports both approaches. You can play alone, join online co-op, enter online PvP or use server-based multiplayer, choosing the format that fits your group and tolerance for player conflict.

Can I run DeadPoly on a gaming laptop?

A laptop can run it if it meets or exceeds the published Windows 10, 8 GB RAM, DirectX 12 and RX 580/GTX 1060-class minimums. Mobile GPU naming and cooling vary, so compare your exact graphics chip rather than assuming a laptop model qualifies.

Will DeadPoly receive more updates before full release?

The Early Access listing and the developer’s explanation indicate that core features are still being worked on, with January 12, 2027 shown as the planned exit date. That schedule is a target, not a guarantee that every planned change will arrive on that day.
