Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet counted 14.8 million Facebook Gaming hours watched in Q2 2026, compared with 4.52 billion on Twitch. Those figures put the competitive question in perspective, though they measure tracked watch time—not every viewer, creator, or Facebook video placement.
What was fb.gg?
Facebook introduced fb.gg in June 2018 as a destination for finding gaming videos already hosted on Facebook. Meta described it as a place that brought live and prerecorded gaming video together. Its launch design drew on Facebook’s social graph: videos from creators and games a person followed, Pages they liked, and Groups they belonged to. Meta’s 2018 announcement framed fb.gg as a discovery layer within Facebook, not a separate streaming network with an independent creator base.

That distinction matters when comparing it with Twitch. fb.gg’s original proposition was to make gaming content easier to discover inside a broad social platform. The available evidence does not establish how fb.gg works today, whether it has formally shut down, or what a visitor currently sees at its address. Its original description should not be mistaken for a verified account of the present interface.

How large is Facebook Gaming compared with Twitch?
In Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet’s Q2 2026 report, Facebook Gaming had 14.8 million hours watched, down 45.5% quarter over quarter and 64.8% year over year. That was roughly 0.1% of the tracked industry watch time. Twitch recorded 4.52 billion hours watched in the same report. The figures indicate a substantial scale gap in that dataset, not a complete count of all viewing on either company’s services. See the Q2 2026 report from Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet.

For historical context, a separate Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet report counted 5,142,762,709 Twitch hours and 66,511,853 Facebook Gaming hours in Q3 2024. Because these are separate reports and measurement periods, those numbers should not be combined with Q2 2026 into a trend line without checking that the underlying methodology is comparable. The Q3 2024 report is useful as a dated snapshot, while the Q2 2026 report is the newer comparison.
What does the creator-program change mean?
Facebook announced that its Gaming Creator Program would be retired in 2026. Social Media Today reported that Facebook said dedicated partner support for the group would end starting October 31, 2025, while creators could continue using monetization tools until the program itself ended. The report said Facebook directed creators to Content Monetization and Facebook Subscriptions. The precise end date in 2026 is not established in the available reporting, nor does it verify the program’s current enrollment status. Social Media Today’s report quotes Facebook’s announcement.

Meta’s broader creator payouts are a separate measure, not evidence that the gaming-specific partner program continues. Meta said it paid Facebook creators nearly $3 billion during 2025, 35% more than in 2024, across its creator monetization programs. Meta’s 2026 announcement describes that broader total. Meta describes Content Monetization as a combined program for eligible Reels, longer videos, photos, and text posts; it is not proof of a continuing gaming-specific partnership. Meta’s explanation of Content Monetization outlines those formats.
What should streamers know about setup and video retention?
Streaming equipment
Facebook’s materials describe using streaming software or external hardware, but do not make a capture card a platform requirement or identify a specific model. Whether external hardware is useful depends on the streaming setup—for example, whether a console or another video source needs to feed a computer. Meta’s streaming-tools guidance covers the broad options.

Live-video replays
Meta said that new Facebook Live broadcasts made from February 19, 2025 would be removed after 30 days unless the creator downloaded or otherwise preserved them. Streamers who need an archive should account for that retention rule and save important broadcasts before removal. Meta’s Facebook Live storage guidance explains the change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. So, is fb.gg a challenger to Twitch?
fb.gg was built to help people discover gaming video through Facebook’s existing social connections, which gave it a different starting point from a dedicated streaming destination. But the latest cited audience comparison shows Facebook Gaming at roughly 0.1% of tracked watch time in Q2 2026, against Twitch’s 4.52 billion hours watched. The announced retirement of Facebook’s Gaming Creator Program also marks a change in dedicated creator support; it does not establish that fb.gg or Facebook streaming has formally closed. On the available evidence, Facebook’s gaming hub has not displaced Twitch in measured viewing scale.
