No—GTA 6 crossplay and cross-progression are not confirmed. Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026. Since no online multiplayer mode is included in the launch announcement, there is currently no confirmed way for PS5 and Xbox players to share a session or move saves, characters, purchases, or other progress between platforms.
Rockstar’s announced launch platforms are PS5 (including PS5 Pro Enhanced support) and Xbox Series X|S. PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One are not listed for launch.

Is GTA 6 cross-platform?
GTA 6 is not confirmed as cross-platform. Rockstar’s official announcement and platform materials identify PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but they do not announce crossplay between those consoles. Any claim that PS5 and Xbox players will definitely play together is speculation until Rockstar publishes a specific feature announcement.
Cross-platform or crossplay normally means players on different systems join the same multiplayer session. That feature requires an online mode and supporting platform services; neither has been announced for GTA 6’s launch product.

What has Rockstar actually announced for launch?
Rockstar’s June 24, 2026 announcement describes GTA 6 as “a single player experience, coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.” Take-Two’s release announcement gives the same date and launch systems. Rockstar’s support information, updated August 18, 2026, lists Standard and Ultimate editions in digital and physical formats.

Can PS5 and Xbox players play GTA 6 together?
There is no confirmed PS5-to-Xbox multiplayer support. Rockstar’s current platform, preorder, and release materials do not mention crossplay, and no launch online mode has been announced. You should therefore buy GTA 6 on the platform you intend to use rather than assuming a friend on another console can join your game.
This status can change if Rockstar announces an online component or adds a cross-platform feature later. Until then, “crossplay coming” should be treated as an unverified rumor, not a published feature.

Will GTA 6 have cross-progression?
Cross-progression is also unconfirmed. In a game that supports it, a player might carry a save, online character, purchases, achievements, or account progress from one platform to another. Rockstar has not promised PS5-to-Xbox or Xbox-to-PS5 transfers for GTA 6.
Do not plan a console switch around shared GTA 6 progress. Keep your purchase and intended play system aligned, and wait for Rockstar to specify what kinds of data—if any—would be transferable.

“Not announced” does not establish that a later version will never exist; it means there is no confirmed launch listing. A future PC, PS4, or Xbox One release would require a separate announcement.

What should you know before buying the physical edition?
The physical GTA 6 package described by Rockstar is a boxed download-code edition, not a disc-based copy. Check whether the package is for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S before ordering, and verify the territory and retailer listing because a code is tied to the platform and regional terms shown by the seller.
Digital and physical editions are listed as Standard and Ultimate formats. The edition names do not, by themselves, confirm crossplay, cross-progression, a PC version, or access to an unannounced online mode.
What would confirm crossplay or cross-progression?
Look for a Rockstar or Take-Two announcement that explicitly names the feature and supported systems. A reliable confirmation should state whether PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can share multiplayer sessions, whether an online mode is available at launch or later, and which progress categories transfer.

What does this mean if your friends own another console?
If you and your friends are buying at launch, choose the same supported console family if playing together is important. The announced product is single-player, and Rockstar has not confirmed a shared online environment across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Players without a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S should not assume that the physical download-code edition works on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Those systems are not listed for launch.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC at the same time as consoles?
No simultaneous PC launch has been announced. Rockstar’s current launch materials name PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, so there is no confirmed PC release date to plan around.

Does PS5 Pro support mean GTA 6 is a separate PS5 version?
PlayStation lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, which indicates enhancements on that console. It does not indicate a separate platform, crossplay entitlement, or transfer of progress to Xbox.
Will GTA 6 include GTA Online on day one?
Rockstar’s launch announcement describes GTA 6 as a single-player experience and does not announce an online multiplayer mode or an online release schedule. Treat any day-one online claim as unconfirmed until Rockstar publishes details.

Both consoles are in the confirmed Xbox Series X|S launch family, but Rockstar has not published a GTA 6 save-transfer policy. Do not assume how saves, purchases, or other data will be handled across consoles until the company documents it.
