No official Horizon 3 release date has been announced. A 2025 rumor report suggested the third mainline game could arrive in 2027 after a multiplayer Horizon title, but Guerrilla has not confirmed either the date or that release order. The studio later announced Horizon Hunters Gathering, a separate co-op game, without giving it a launch date.
Where did the 2027 Horizon 3 claim come from?
CQ-Esports published the rumor on May 13, 2025, and updated its report on May 25, 2026. It attributed the claim to TCMF Games: Guerrilla was reportedly working on both a multiplayer Horizon project and a third mainline game, with the multiplayer project expected first and 2027 suggested for the mainline release. What Guerrilla has officially confirmed
Horizon Hunters Gathering is a separate co-op game
On February 4, 2026, Guerrilla announced Horizon Hunters Gathering for PS5 and PC. The co-op action game supports up to three players and features two announced modes, Machine Incursion and Cauldron Descent, alongside a narrative campaign. Guerrilla described the game as canon. The announcement did not confirm a launch date or release order
Guerrilla’s announcement gave no release date for Hunters Gathering and did not say it would launch before Horizon 3. The fact that the co-op game is now official does not verify the earlier leak’s predicted order.
In the PlayStation Blog announcement, game director Arjan Bak said, “What we can say is that Hunters Gathering is fully canon and its story doesn’t stop at launch!” That confirms how Guerrilla describes the co-op game’s narrative status; it says nothing about Horizon 3’s schedule. What later reporting says about Horizon 3’s timing
On February 10, 2026, GameSpot reported that Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier had said “most” of Guerrilla was working on Hunters Gathering. GameSpot also relayed a Kotaku report citing a source who estimated the next mainline game might be three to five years away. From the report’s February 2026 date, that would imply a 2029–2031 range—not an official window, and not a confirmed current forecast.
