League of Legends Worlds 2022 reached a peak of 5,147,701 concurrent viewers during the DRX–T1 grand final on 5 November 2022, according to Esports Charts data cited by Guinness World Records. That is the maximum simultaneous audience—not the total number of distinct people who watched any part of the tournament—and Esports Charts says its figure excludes Chinese streaming services.
How many people watched Worlds 2022?
The tournament’s peak was 5,147,701 concurrent viewers. Guinness World Records lists that exact figure and attributes it to Esports Charts; Esports Charts’ event report rounds it to more than 5.1 million. The peak came during the second map of the final between South Korean teams DRX and T1. DRX won the best-of-five series 3–2.

The final took place on 5 November 2022 at Chase Center in San Francisco. Worlds 2022 ran from 29 September to 5 November, with matches held at venues in Mexico and the United States.

It is a peak concurrent-viewership figure: the highest number of viewers watching at the same time. It does not count everyone who tuned in at different times across the tournament. Esports Charts also reports 141.9 million hours watched and an average audience of 987.4 thousand for the event. Those figures describe different measures and should not be substituted for the peak.

Does the figure include viewers in China?
No. Esports Charts says its reported results exclude statistics from Chinese streaming services because of concerns about the reliability of their data. The 5,147,701 figure should therefore be described as the reported peak in the services Esports Charts measured, not as a complete worldwide count that includes China.
How does Worlds 2022 compare with other esports events?
Esports Charts described Worlds 2022 as setting a new League of Legends esports record for peak concurrent viewers at the time. That is narrower than saying it was the most-watched esports event by every measure. Its report says Worlds 2022 ranked second to Worlds 2021 in total hours watched, despite airing nine hours longer. A comparison is meaningful only when the metric and coverage match: peak against peak, average against average, or hours watched against hours watched, with platform and regional coverage taken into account.

Riot Games’ account of the 2022 broadcast says its global events team worked with 22 broadcast partners producing shows in 21 languages, with regional teams adapting presentation and stories. This describes the international broadcast operation; it is not an independent measurement of the 2022 audience. Riot’s often-cited 73.8 million concurrent-viewer figure in that article refers to the 2021 final, not Worlds 2022.
