Mai Shiranui is playable in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves and is part of the game’s base roster—not one of its Season Pass 1 DLC fighters. SNK included her in the game’s February 2025 open-beta lineup, ahead of its April 24, 2025 launch.
Mai is a base-roster fighter, not Season Pass 1 DLC
SNK revealed Mai as a launch-roster character in August 2024. The publisher later listed her among the eight fighters available in the February 2025 open beta. At launch, SNK described the game as having 17 main-roster characters alongside five Season Pass 1 DLC fighters.

The five Season Pass 1 fighters are Ken, Chun-Li, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, and Mr. Big. Mai is not among them. SNK’s open-beta announcement and launch-date announcement distinguish the playable beta roster and the launch game’s main roster from those DLC characters.

Nintendo Switch 2 release
SNK announced a digital Nintendo Switch 2 release for October 22, 2026. That date is in the future as of October 8, 2026, so the Switch 2 version has not yet reached its announced digital launch date. SNK also scheduled a physical Switch 2 Starter Edition for Japan on January 21, 2027; the announcement did not specify physical-release details for other regions. See SNK’s Switch 2 announcement for the regional and edition details.
Does the Switch 2 preorder costume mean Mai is DLC?
No. SNK identifies the Classic Mai costume as a Switch 2 preorder bonus, which is a costume offer and does not change Mai’s status as a playable base-roster character. SNK says the costume may be offered later as paid DLC on all platforms. The offer applies to the costume, not access to Mai as a fighter.
