What OMEN Gaming Hub does
HP describes OMEN Gaming Hub as software for supported Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs and accessories. The available controls depend on the associated product. Two OMEN computers can therefore expose different menus, and an OMEN-branded system does not automatically support every feature described in HP’s general documentation.
Performance and power modes
On supported notebooks, the Hub may offer modes such as Balanced, Performance, ECO, Comfort, or related options. The labels vary by product and software generation. Performance mode can dynamically allocate power between the processor and graphics processor, while ECO mode is intended to reduce power consumption and fan noise.
Some notebooks also expose manual thermal controls, custom fan curves, Max Fan, Smart Performance Gain, or maximum battery-drain controls. These are useful when you want to trade noise, heat, battery life, and performance deliberately. They are not universal OMEN features, however. The model-specific compatibility information from HP is the authoritative check.
On supported desktops, newer Hub releases use OMEN Desktop Performance Control in place of the older Fan Control interface. Balanced and Performance modes are documented, while an Extreme mode exists on selected high-end desktops. Extreme mode can unlock system power limits and is intended for advanced users; HP displays a warning about risks and potential warranty implications before enabling it.
Removing the Hub does not necessarily make the hardware unusable. The computer can still operate with firmware defaults, BIOS settings, and Windows behavior. But there is no universal guarantee that every app-managed profile, fan setting, or tuning option will remain available after uninstalling. The result depends on the model, firmware, app version, and supporting components.
System Vitals and temperature monitoring
The Hub’s System Vitals view can show CPU and GPU utilization and temperatures in real time, with color categories indicating relative temperature status. This is convenient when testing a performance mode or watching temperatures during a demanding game.
It is not required to monitor a PC. Windows and other hardware-monitoring tools can provide alternatives, and games can run without the dashboard. Keep the Hub for this feature only if the integrated view is useful to you.

Optimizer and Cleaner
Optimizer can temporarily disable selected services and processes while a game is running and restore them afterward. Its Cleaner function scans for system buildup and can change low-level operating-system settings in an attempt to free space or optimize the system. HP documents Booster as enabled by default in the described configuration.
These are convenience features, not gaming prerequisites. You can manage startup applications, processes, storage, and background activity through Windows. Also be cautious with any tool that changes low-level settings: do not assume it will improve frame rates on every PC, and do not treat a claimed optimization as a guaranteed benchmark result.
Network Booster
Network Booster can show application bandwidth use and, when supported and enabled, prioritize applications or assign traffic to Ethernet and Wi-Fi through Dual Force. That can be useful if you deliberately manage which applications receive network priority.
It can also be a troubleshooting variable. HP has documented a case in which Network Booster reduced internet speed and directed users toward a newer OMEN SDK package. If your connection became slower after enabling the feature, disable or troubleshoot Network Booster before deciding that the entire Hub must be removed—or that the entire Hub is defective.
RGB lighting and peripherals
On compatible hardware, OMEN Gaming Hub can control keyboard lighting, supported desktop memory-module lighting, and other device lighting. OMEN Light Studio provides more customized effects. Some OMEN mice also require macro functionality to be enabled on the mouse before macros can be used.
These controls matter if you own compatible OMEN hardware and want to customize it. They are not needed for a standard keyboard, mouse, monitor, or game controller to function. If lighting profiles are important, record or export your preferred settings where the software allows it before uninstalling; HP’s documentation confirms that profiles and controls exist, but the exact behavior of those profiles after removal varies.
Game launcher and live features
The Hub also provides gaming-oriented services, a unified interface, and launcher-style features. These may be convenient, but they do not make the app a requirement for PC gaming. If you already launch games through Steam, the Xbox app, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, or another service, uninstalling the Hub does not remove those game platforms.

When uninstalling OMEN Gaming Hub makes sense

HP support materials describe removing the application through Windows Settings and reinstalling it through the Microsoft Store. That means the Hub is not presented as an irremovable Windows component.
How to uninstall it safely
- Check what you use first. Open OMEN Gaming Hub and look for custom performance, fan, lighting, tuning, Optimizer, or network settings. Take screenshots or write down settings you may need later.
- Check your model’s feature compatibility. Do not assume that a menu documented for one OMEN notebook or desktop exists on yours—or that it will be available in BIOS after removal.
- Update before deciding whether the app is unnecessary. Use the Microsoft Store to update OMEN Gaming Hub. Run Windows Update and install relevant HP, Intel, AMD, and Realtek driver updates when appropriate. If HP directs you to update the OMEN Gaming Hub SDK, install that package as well.
- Uninstall through Windows. In Windows 11, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find OMEN Gaming Hub, select the three-dot menu, and choose Uninstall. In Windows 10, use Settings > Apps > Apps & features, select the Hub, and choose Uninstall. Labels can vary slightly by Windows update.
- Restart and test. Confirm that Windows starts normally, your games launch, your network works, and your keyboard, mouse, display, and other peripherals behave as expected.
- Reinstall if a needed control disappeared. HP support materials identify the Microsoft Store as the reinstall route. If the Hub returns without its expected controls, check the SDK, BIOS, drivers, model compatibility, and Windows security settings.
Uninstalling the Hub is not a guaranteed way to improve frame rates, temperatures, battery life, or boot time. It may reduce one source of background activity for some users, but the supplied HP documentation does not establish a universal measured benefit.
What to do before removing it because of a problem
Update the Hub, SDK, Windows, BIOS, and drivers
Missing menus and failed controls can result from outdated software rather than from the Hub being unnecessary. Consequently, a missing fan or tuning option does not automatically prove that the Hub is broken or that you do not need it. First determine whether your Windows security configuration is blocking the feature. Do not weaken security settings casually; if a change is being considered, understand the security trade-off and follow HP’s model-specific guidance.

Consider the 2025 security bulletin correctly
HP published a 2025 security bulletin involving OMEN Gaming Hub and HP System Event Utility. For that bulletin, HP listed OMEN Gaming Hub version 1101.2511.101.0 or higher as the minimum version that remediated the specified potential arbitrary-code-execution issue, while noting that newer versions might be available.
That number is a historical minimum for the cited bulletin—not proof that it is the newest release. If security is your concern, update from the Microsoft Store and check current HP security guidance rather than stopping at that version.
Should you remove the OMEN SDK too?
Do not remove supporting HP components blindly. The Hub and OMEN SDK are not interchangeable, and a feature problem may involve the SDK, HP System Event Utility, a driver, BIOS, or VBS. Before removing related packages, identify which component HP’s troubleshooting instructions reference and record the current installation state.
If you uninstall the Hub because you do not use any OMEN controls, Windows may remain perfectly usable. But removing additional HP components without checking dependencies can make later troubleshooting harder. A conservative approach is to remove only the Hub first, restart, and test.

Will games stop working if I uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub?

Why is manual fan control missing?
