On an Xbox console, online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription sold separately. On PC, the Steam listing confirms online multiplayer features, but it does not establish any PlayStation subscription requirement.
The direct answer
If you are asking whether you need PlayStation Plus to race online in Forza Motorsport, the answer is no. The official platform information lists the game for Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Microsoft Store and Steam. Neither the official Xbox listing nor the official Forza announcement reviewed identifies a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 version.

That makes PlayStation Plus the wrong subscription to investigate for this title. The relevant question is which platform you are using:

- PC: The Steam listing marks the game as supporting Online PvP and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. The sources reviewed do not establish a PlayStation Plus requirement for PC play.
- PlayStation: The official listings reviewed do not identify a PlayStation release, so they do not establish a Forza-specific PlayStation Plus rule.
These are platform-specific terms. A subscription that enables multiplayer on one platform does not transfer to another platform merely because a game supports cross-platform play.

Which platforms officially list Forza Motorsport?
The Forza.net announcement from Turn 10 Studios describes Forza Motorsport as available on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Xbox product page likewise presents the game for Xbox console and PC, including access through the Microsoft Store and Steam.
Neither of those official pages, as reviewed on October 13, 2026, identifies a PlayStation version. That is more precise than saying that every possible future distribution plan is impossible: platform catalogs and product pages can change. It means there is no PlayStation edition or PlayStation-specific subscription rule established by the current official listings used for this answer.
The platform distinction also explains why a search for “Forza Motorsport PS Plus” can be misleading. Search results may combine PlayStation’s general subscription policy with information about a different platform. Start with the game’s supported hardware, then apply that platform’s online-access rules.

Subscription requirements by platform
| Platform | Official availability identified | Online multiplayer evidence | Subscription conclusion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | Listed by Xbox and Forza.net | The Forza announcement describes Featured Multiplayer as an online competition mode. | Xbox states that online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription, sold separately. |
| PC via Microsoft Store | Listed by Xbox and Forza.net | PC availability is confirmed; the reviewed material does not give a separate PC multiplayer-subscription rule. | No PlayStation Plus requirement is established. |
| PC via Steam | Listed by the official Steam page | Steam marks the game as supporting Online PvP and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. | Those feature labels do not create a PlayStation subscription requirement. |
| PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 | No PlayStation version identified in the official listings reviewed | No Forza-specific PlayStation multiplayer listing was identified. | No Forza-specific PlayStation Plus requirement is established. |
The table separates three ideas that are often conflated: where the game is sold, whether online modes exist, and which subscription—if any—the platform uses for console multiplayer.

What Xbox console players actually need
Online console multiplayer
The Xbox product page includes this explicit notice: “Online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription (subscriptions sold separately).” That statement applies to playing online on an Xbox console. If your goal is multiplayer racing on Xbox Series X|S, this is the subscription condition identified by Xbox—not PlayStation Plus.
The wording matters because it describes online console multiplayer, not every way of obtaining the game. Xbox’s page separately says the game is available by purchase or through certain Game Pass plans. The page does not make those two statements interchangeable: access to the game and the subscription used for online console multiplayer are distinct questions.
Buying the game versus accessing it through a catalog
You can therefore encounter two separate checks on Xbox:
Recommended Free Tools
- Game access: whether you own Forza Motorsport or have access through an applicable Game Pass plan.
- Console multiplayer access: whether your account has the Xbox Game Pass subscription required by Xbox for online console multiplayer.
The official page does not specify in the quoted notice which particular Game Pass tier applies, and the terms can change. Check the current Xbox product listing for the plan name and eligibility shown when you sign in or attempt to play.

- Gameplay rewind and auto-tuning that cater to how each individual drives and evolves with you over time.
- Auction House and Deep Tuning Garage that along with content via Xbox LIVE, allow players to express their car passion through user-generated content.
Featured Multiplayer
The official Forza announcement describes Featured Multiplayer as an online competition mode. That description confirms the game includes an online competitive activity on its supported platforms; it does not turn PlayStation Plus into a requirement or alter Xbox’s separate console-subscription notice.
What PC players need to know
Steam features
The Steam listing for Forza Motorsport marks the game with “Online PvP” and “Cross-Platform Multiplayer.” Those labels are evidence that the PC listing supports online player-versus-player activity and multiplayer across supported platforms.
They are not evidence of a PlayStation release. Cross-platform multiplayer describes how supported players may interact; it does not mean the game is sold on every console or that one console’s subscription policy applies to PC users.
Microsoft Store PC access
The Xbox and Forza.net listings identify PC availability through the Microsoft Store as well as Steam. The reviewed sources do not state a separate PC subscription requirement comparable to Xbox’s “online console multiplayer” notice. Consequently, do not add a PlayStation Plus subscription to a PC setup based on the game’s online features or its cross-platform label.

If you are deciding between PC storefronts, verify the current store page for the edition and access method you intend to use. The available evidence establishes the platforms and online features, but it does not provide a universal claim about every account, purchase, or catalog arrangement.
Why PlayStation’s general Plus policy does not answer this game-specific question
PlayStation Support says that most PS4 and PS5 games require PlayStation Plus for online multiplayer, while some games are exceptions. It advises players to check the individual PlayStation Store listing for title-specific requirements.
That is a general PlayStation rule, not proof that Forza Motorsport has a PlayStation version or a PlayStation Plus requirement. Applying the policy requires an actual PlayStation Store listing for the title. The official Forza and Xbox pages reviewed here do not provide one.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThis distinction prevents a common reasoning error: “Most PlayStation online games need Plus, therefore Forza needs Plus.” The first statement can be true as a general policy while the second remains unestablished when the game itself is not listed for PlayStation.

How to verify your situation before you try to play
- Identify the device. Confirm whether you intend to play on Xbox Series X|S, a Windows PC through the Microsoft Store, or a Windows PC through Steam. Do not begin with the subscription name; begin with the platform.
- Open the matching official listing. Use the Xbox page for console details, the Forza.net announcement for the platform announcement, or the Steam page for Steam’s feature labels. Check the page’s current wording because availability and subscription terms can change.
- For Xbox console play, read the multiplayer note. Look for Xbox’s statement that online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription sold separately. Treat this as the console-multiplayer condition, separate from how you obtained the game.
- For PC play, check the storefront entry. Steam’s listing identifies Online PvP and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. The reviewed material does not instruct PC players to obtain PlayStation Plus.
- If you only have a PlayStation, check the PlayStation Store directly. PlayStation Support recommends using the individual store listing to confirm a game’s rules. If no official Forza Motorsport listing appears, there is no title-specific Plus requirement established by the sources used here.
- Recheck before purchase or renewal. The platform pages and subscription policies are changeable. A current listing is more reliable than an old forum answer, a search snippet, or a generic statement about another game.
Common situations and the correct interpretation
“I own a PS5 and want to race in Forza Motorsport.”
The official platform listings reviewed do not identify a PS5 edition. Because there is no identified PlayStation edition to attach a multiplayer rule to, buying PlayStation Plus would not solve a Forza access question established by those listings.
“I have an Xbox Series X|S and bought the game.”
Ownership addresses game access, but Xbox’s product page separately requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription for online console multiplayer. Check that console requirement independently of the purchase.
“I play on Steam and see Cross-Platform Multiplayer.”
That label describes a Steam-supported online feature. It does not indicate that PlayStation Plus is needed, nor does it by itself prove that a PlayStation version exists.

“The game is included in a Game Pass plan.”
Catalog access and console multiplayer access are separate claims on the Xbox page. Confirm both the plan that provides the game and the subscription condition for online console multiplayer; do not assume one statement automatically answers the other.
What the available evidence does—and does not—show
- It shows official Xbox Series X|S and PC availability.
- It shows that Xbox attaches a Game Pass subscription requirement to online console multiplayer.
- It shows Steam support for Online PvP and Cross-Platform Multiplayer.
- It shows PlayStation’s general rule that most PS4 and PS5 online multiplayer games need Plus, with exceptions and title-by-title checking.
- It does not identify a PlayStation version of Forza Motorsport.
- It does not provide a named statistic, a PlayStation Store listing, or a PlayStation-specific Forza subscription rule.
Accordingly, the safest current answer remains platform-specific rather than a blanket statement about every future release or service change.
Bottom line
PlayStation Plus is not required for Forza Motorsport online multiplayer. The game’s official listings reviewed here cover Xbox Series X|S and PC, not PlayStation. Xbox console players should follow Xbox’s separate Game Pass requirement for online console multiplayer; PC players should use the requirements of their chosen PC storefront.
