Supercell has not confirmed a current Surge Star Power activation bug or said a fix is underway in the official material available here. Its June 2026 release notes describe reworks to both of Surge’s Star Powers, while a June 2024 note records an older fix for Serve Ice Cold. Neither confirms a present-day issue.
Has Supercell acknowledged a current Surge Star Power bug?
No current acknowledgment or repair commitment is established by the official sources cited here. Supercell’s June 2026 release notes explain how the reworked Star Powers are meant to work; they do not announce an activation bug or say that a fix is underway. The June 25, 2024 update notes mention a fix for Serve Ice Cold, but do not give enough detail to connect it to a current problem. Supercell’s June 2026 release notes and its June 2024 Classic Brawl Update notes should be read as separate, dated updates—not evidence of an ongoing issue.
How Surge’s Star Powers work after the June 2026 rework
Older descriptions may not reflect the current mechanics. Supercell’s June 2026 notes describe these changes:
| Star Power | Behavior described by Supercell |
|---|---|
| To the Max! | Surge’s main attack now bounces off walls. Its Buffie creates two smaller projectiles when the attack bounces off walls. |
| Serve Ice Cold | “Surge always spawns with Super.” Its Buffie grants a speed boost when Surge uses Super while in Stage 3. |
These are the intended mechanics in the June 2026 release notes, not proof that every reported activation symptom is a confirmed bug.

Why isn’t Serve Ice Cold working?
A June 2024 Reddit post described Serve Ice Cold not preserving Surge’s upgrade after the player died; commenters also raised similar reports. One player said the ability “doesn’t seem to be working as intended,” and another described it as “does not keep the stage.” Those are anecdotal reports about the earlier version of the Star Power. They do not establish that the reworked ability has the same problem today. The Reddit discussion is player testimony, not an official bug confirmation.
If what you see differs from the behavior Supercell describes, first check that the game is updated and that you are comparing it with the reworked ability rather than an older description. The available official notes do not identify a specific trigger, affected mode, device, or group of accounts, so none can be treated as an established cause.

How to report a reproducible issue
Supercell Support provides troubleshooting and routes for bug reports and technical assistance. To make a report more useful, gather the following details; these are practical suggestions, not stated support requirements:
- Game version and selected Star Power.
- Game mode and the sequence of actions that produced the symptom.
- A screen recording or screenshot, if possible.
Submit the report through Supercell’s Brawl Stars Support. There is no confirmed timeline for a fix, and a report does not guarantee an individual response.
